INDIANAPOLIS — For some draft prospects, the scouting combine on-field drills are mere confirmation for NFL teams looking to add a bit to positive tape study and personal interviews. For others, it’s a bigger deal, as great numbers might have some personnel people going back to that tape to see what they might have missed the first time around.

On Thursday afternoon and evening, we saw the defensive linemen, edge defenders, and off-ball linebackers do their thing on the field at Lucas Oil Stadium. While a lot of prospects acquitted themselves well, here are the ones who did the most to stand out, and to potentially see their stocks rise through the next two months before the 2024 NFL draft is in the bag.

Vikings 2024 NFL draft scouting report: Western Michigan EDGE Marshawn Kneeland

Marshawn Kneeland is the seventh member of the All-Forno team. How does he project and where does he go in the NFL Draft?

Welcome to SKOL Search!

This series will be your guide to the 2024 draft class. From scouting reports to mock drafts and exploring different scenarios, we will be covering the NFL draft and the future of the Minnesota Vikings from all angles.

The focus of the draft class in this space will be on the Vikings’ major needs at quarterback, running back, defensive line and edge rusher. We will also focus on wide receiver since it’s a loaded class and an increased chance to get a Stefon Diggs-type steal in the later rounds.

List of linebackers and edges at 2024 Senior Bowl

With the NFL as pass-happy as it is, pass-rushers are extremely valuable. Having a good week in Mobile can also help such players. Just ask the Jets. They have selected an edge that was at the Senior Bowl in the first round in each of the last two drafts — Jermaine Johnson, 2022; Will McDonald, 2023.

Could the Jets add another this year? Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich will get a close eye on some of these players as the American team head coach. Not just Ulbrich, but linebackers coach Nathaniel Willingham as well, as he will be on the coaching staff. Joining Willingham is Imarjaye Albury of the Vikings, Rob Leonard of the Raiders and Cato June of the Colts. 2024 NFL draft: Updated Cleveland Browns 7-round mock draft

2024 NFL draft: Updated Cleveland Browns 7-round mock draft ahead of Senior Bowl week

The Cleveland Browns had a very interesting 2023 campaign. Despite rampant injuries across the offense, Kevin Stefanski’s team finished an impressive 11-6 and earned the top wild card berth in the AFC.

The playoff run ended quickly with a blowout loss in Houston, one that shone the spotlight on some of the Browns’ biggest offseason needs. GM Andrew Berry won’t get to address any of those needs until the second round of the 2024 NFL draft since the Browns already traded away their first-round pick to Houston as part of the Deshaun Watson deal. Cleveland has just two selections in the first four rounds.

Where might Berry and the Browns look in the draft? Here’s one early pathway they can explore.

2024 NFL draft: Bowl season EDGE big board from Draft Wire’s Jeff Risdon

Welcome to winter! For most 2024 NFL draft prospects, it’s now draft prep season. A few still have bowl games on the schedule, but the season to impress NFL talent evaluators on the field is largely complete.

Up next in the positional rankings are the EDGE group. Call them defensive ends or outside linebackers — often changing between the two roles in the same game — these players are primarily pass rushers. It’s a position with one of the highest bust rates but also one where scheme fit matters a ton.
