The Kansas City Chiefs made no secret of their offseason plans to upgrade the wide receiver position. Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Mike Evans was speculated to be at the top of the wish list during free agency but decided to stay with the franchise.

During NFL Network’s recent training camp coverage, Evans spoke with Gerald McCoy about his decision to re-sign with the Buccaneers.

“In the back of my mind, I’m thinking Houston, (and) Kansas City,” said Evans. I love Pat Mahomes’ game. I’m thinking those two teams. And I’m obviously thinking the Bucs.”

The multiple-time Pro Bowler credited his family and the feeling of home in Tampa Bay as his reasons to re-sign with the team he led to a Super Bowl victory over the Chiefs in 2020. Evans is the only player in NFL history to record ten consecutive 1,000-yard seasons to start his career. In 2023, he had 79 catches for 1,255 yards and a league-leading 13 touchdowns.

The Chiefs are pleased with their signing of veteran receiver Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown, who is expected to make an immediate impact this season.

Aqib Talib praises Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ offensive weapons ahead of the 2024 season

The Kansas City Chiefs offense has been great throughout the Patrick Mahomes era, but last season was the first year without the usual dominance. The addition of several new players to fuel the unit has many critics curious and optimistic about what the team can accomplish in the new year.

Super Bowl champion cornerback Aquib Talib appeared as a guest recently on the ‘Up and Adams Show with Kay Adams’ to discuss the current state of the Chiefs offense.

“You almost got a Tyreek. You got a Tyreek. You got almost two of them. Now you have Hollywood (Marquise Brown) and (Xavier) Worthy.” said Talib. “You can stretch the field with both of those good guys. Then you have one of the best catch-and-run guys underneath, Rashee Rice (who) is almost like a Deebo Samuel type. And then you got (Travis) Kelce. And you then got a great running back. And then they got Andy Heck. No matter who you give him on the O-Line, he seems to revamp them. Have them Super Bowl ready.”

The Chiefs’ offense has impressed many, who have viewed the many clips online from training camp featuring several of Mahomes’ weapons making incredible plays.

“They got a bunch of guys who can play football. So, and then Mahomes is just now getting to his OG veteran days. So I don’t know, man,” said Talib, “we may be looking at the GOAT.”

Mahomes’s labeling as a GOAT by another Super Bowl winner and former defensive star is a further testament to his greatness. He and the rest of the Chiefs’ offense hope for a breakout season.

Marquise’ Hollywood’ Brown discusses Chiefs wide receiver room: ‘Sky’s the limit’

Marquise’ Hollywood’ Brown discusses Kansas City #Chiefs wide receiver room: ‘Sky’s the limit’ | @EdEastonJr

The addition of new weapons on offense for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is expected to re-energize the unit in 2024.

Chiefs wide receiver Marquise’ Hollywood’ Brown opened up to the media on Wednesday about working with his teammates, including the younger receivers.

“I mean, it’s my job. Really just come in and show the guts that if I could come in, I could be on top of things,” said Brown. I just got here; it pushes everyone else to be better and raises the competition in the room.”

During his last season with the Arizona Cardinals, Brown started 14 games, collecting 51 receptions, 574 yards, and four touchdowns. He is optimistic about his new teammates, especially in the wide receivers’ room.

“I’m excited. God willing, we all stay healthy, and we just keep building, keep pushing each other,” said Brown. The sky’s the limit of what we could do.”

The Chiefs’ wide receiver depth can potentially be explosive this season. However, the final roster breakdown will greatly determine certain players’ fate with the franchise.

Chiefs WR Hollywood Brown: ‘Everyone is on the same page’

The Kansas City Chiefs’ mandatory minicamp sessions were a significant period to reacclimate the team before next month’s training camp. The addition of new players and proven veterans working together to build early chemistry are all ingredients for another Super Bowl run.

After Wednesday’s practice, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown spoke with reporters about his adjustment to the Chiefs offense and trust in the personnel.

“I feel like everyone is on the same page; everyone has the same goal and mission,” said Brown. “The way we compete out there in practice and then – we teach each other like we help each other, defense talks to offense, offense talks to defense, so I feel like that’s a big part of it.”

During his last two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, Brown had 118 receptions for 1,283 yards and seven touchdowns. He made a name for himself as a member of the Baltimore Ravens, with his best season in 2021, earning praise around the league with 91 receptions for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns.

“I’m excited to be here. (I’m) trusting (Head) Coach (Andy) Reid, (Offensive Coordinator) Coach (Matt) Nagy and Pat (Mahomes).” Said Brown. “I’m just excited for the opportunity and what’s ahead.”

The Chiefs have plenty of speed projected on their 2024 roster at the wide receiver position. As the veteran, Brown is expected to produce immediately as the younger talent finds their way.

Kansas City Chiefs’ most underrated player: WR Marquise Brown

New Chiefs receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown could be the key to re-igniting Patrick Mahomes’ deep passing game.

Not that the Chiefs have a lot to repair this offseason — when you win two straight Super Bowls, and you don’t lose a lot of personnel, it’s all good. But Patrick Mahomes completed just 24 of 76 passes of 20 or more air yards in the 2023 season for 817 yards, two touchdowns, six interceptions, and a passer rating of 49.1 — the worst in the league among starting quarterbacks. The marquee move to try and correct the deep receiver deficit Mahomes has had since his team traded Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins was the selection of Texas speed receiver Xavier Worthy with the 28th overall pick in the draft, but let’s not underestimate one signing that could pay off — former Ravens and Cardinals receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to a one-year, $7 million deal.

Last season with the Cardinals, Brown caught just six passes of 20 or more air yards on 21 attempts for 175 yards and a touchdown, but it could also be said that Brown’s quarterback deficit was roughly equivalent to Mahomes’ receiver deficit, so maybe this pairing could pay off for all involved.

“He’s a smart kid and he just kind of gets it,” Andy Reid said of Brown on May 22. “Pat [Mahomes] and he – there’s so much talking going on which I look at and I think that’s important. As long as the receivers are willing to listen and then share what they saw and it’s accurate, you normally can develop a pretty good relationship relatively quick as you go.”

As Greg Cosell and I discussed in a recent edition of “The Xs and Os,” Brown’s tape shows a speed separator who might be a perfect fit in his third NFL offense.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid reveals early plans for Texas WR Xavier Worthy

#Chiefs head coach Andy Reid revealed his plans for Texas WR Xavier Worthy, who was Kansas City’s first-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft.

The Kansas City Chiefs made moves late in the first round of the NFL draft, trading up with their AFC nemesis, the Buffalo Bills to move from pick No. 32 to No. 28.

Ultimately, Kansas City selected Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy,  indicating their high hopes for the talented speedster.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke with the media immediately following Worthy’s selection, sharing his thoughts on the former Longhorn. Reid already has a plan for utilizing his record-breaking speed in the game plan and special teams.

“I think he is a heck of a football player,” Reid explained. “Number one, he does a few different things. He’s a good wide receiver and also a good special teams returner. He’ll end up doing both to start things off with.

“We’ll just work him into that rotation when we get him (into) the wide receiver rotation, and with Hollywood (Marquise Brown) and Rashee (Rice) and (Travis) Kelce, you know, the other folks, so it should give Pat (Patrick Mahomes) another weapon to use.”

The announcement that the Chiefs and Bills were making a deal shocked many critics, but Reid shed some light on Kansas City’s mindset.

“We wanted him, and we just felt that he started getting down there; somebody might jump us and pick him up,” said Reid. “Brett does a great job of this; he got a real good feel for the people that have interest in that position and that player and then where he needs to go to attack it.”

Reid has thrived with slim and speedy receivers, as he mentioned his experience with former receiver DeSean Jackson during his time with the Philadelphia Eagles. The longtime head coach was enticed to select Worthy because of his desire and eagerness to play football.

“I like his makeup,” Reid continued. “I like the fact that he can go all day and that he loves football. And you guys know how we’re wired here. Brett (Veach) makes that a real characteristic that he likes. Likewise, as coaches, we love that. If you find that out about a guy and you can tell he’s passionate about the sport, I think you’ll see this when you meet him. And he loves to play. And he’s good at it.”

Hopes are high for what Worthy can bring to the Chief’s offense, as the possibilities are endless as day one of the NFL draft comes to a close.

WATCH: Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes throws to Marquise Brown in offseason workout

Check out this video of #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes throwing to Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown in an offseason workout

The 2024 NFL season is months away, but Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes didn’t want to wait much longer to test his arm with his new wide receiver. The three-time Super Bowl MVP was back on the field showing off his arm in a video with his newly signed teammate Marquise “Hollywood” Brown.

Mahomes posted a video of him tossing passes to Brown on his Instagram account and a highlight reel of a suspected independent workout. The video was accompanied by the Big Sean song Precision, and it appeared that the new teammates were already in sync.

The pair was spotted working out with trainer Bobby Stroupe last month, so a positive bond seems to have formed well before organized team activities.

Skyy Moore is also featured in the video. After a rough 2023, he hopes to significantly contribute to the team’s offensive plans in the upcoming season.

The Chiefs could still be in the market for a wide receiver during this month’s NFL Draft, but it’s good to see the current crop getting some early work under their belts.

Andy Reid is confident WR Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown’s speed will benefit Chiefs’ offense

#Chiefs head coach Andy Reid expressed his confidence that Marquise “Hollywood” Brown’s speed will benefit Kansas City’s offense

The Kansas City Chiefs are focused on improving their quality of play at the wide receiver position heading into the 2024 season. Marquise Hollywood Brown’s signing at the start of free agency is a significant step towards fixing some issues plaguing the group last season.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is in Florida for the NFL’s annual meetings this week. According to CBS Sports’ Jeff Kerr, he discussed Brown’s signing and its potential impact on the offense.

“I think Marquise gives you that speed element on the outside, or inside, for that matter,” Reid explained. “He’s played all the different spots. I think he’s a smart kid. He’ll complement with Rashee [Rice] and Trav [Travis Kelce] well.”

In 2023, the Chiefs’ receivers suffered from too many drops and unforced errors, leading many to criticize the personnel choices. In his rookie season, Rice emerged as a budding star in the offense, and Brown could be the proven veteran needed alongside him in the receivers room.

“I gotta see how he does. I think his main thing is just staying healthy. It’s been an issue up to this point,” said Reid. “He looks like he’s in great shape. He’s in a good frame of mind.”

Brown has a reputation for making big plays and has the personality to fit in with the many characters in the Chiefs locker room. Coaches, players, and fans have good reason to be excited about their chances at a three-peat.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce shares excitement about Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown signing

#Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce shared his excitement about Kansas City’s signing of Marquise “Hollywood” Brown.

The addition of wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown this offseason has immediately addressed a need for the Kansas City Chiefs. The one-year deal is the bandaid sought after a season of unusual drops from the receiver position during the Chiefs Super Bowl run.

In the latest episode of New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, Travis shared his thoughts on the Brown signing and his research into his new teammate.

“I’m pumped about this one man (the) guy can absolutely fly,” Kelce explained. “[I] talked to my guys, my Oklahoma Sooners, on what type of guy he is, and everybody just raves about the person he is in the building.

“I saw him on Twitch streaming the day he signed, the day he confirmed it, and he was having a good old time, man. I think it’s gonna be a great addition to the locker room as well as on the field, man. I’m pumped to get in the building and get to work, baby.”

Brown has all the skill and character to fit the Chiefs’ locker room alongside the polarizing Kelce. The chemistry on the field will be something fans can’t wait to see when training camp gets underway in July.

Chiefs Patrick Mahomes, Rashee Rice train with new teammate Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown

#Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Rashee Rice trained with their new teammate Marquise “Hollywood” Brown this week.

The journey to three Super Bowl titles in a row is underway for some members of the Kansas City Chiefs. The offseason workouts not sanctioned by the team are early indicators of the players’ camaraderie and trust before heading into organized team activity.

Well-known trainer Bobby Stroupe has notably worked with Chiefs players such as Patrick Mahomes, George Karlaftis, and his various athlete clients. He posted images from workouts featuring Mahomes, Rashee Rice, and newly signed receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown on his X account early Thursday morning.

In the initial image featuring Rice and Brown, Stroupe details the importance of working on footwork to avoid serious injuries.

In recent years, Stroupe has been featured for his work with Mahomes, especially during his battles with lower leg injuries. The three-time Super Bowl MVP showed plenty of flexibility during his AFC Championship game performance against the Baltimore Ravens, due in part to the work with Stroupe.

Mahomes is still working out in the offseason, and his receivers, Rice and Brown, are joining him. The group is building the chemistry off the field needed for the 2024 season.
