Panthers 2024 offseason workout program dates announced

The dates for the Panthers’ 2024 offseason workout program are officially set.

It’s almost time for Dave Canales and his Carolina Panthers to get to work.

On Friday, the NFL announced the offseason workout program dates for the 2024 campaign. Here’s what the Panthers are scheduled for in the coming months:

  • First day: April 8
  • Voluntary minicamp: April 23-25
  • OTA Offseason Workouts: May 20-21, May 23, May 28-29, May 31, June 3-4, June 6
  • Mandatory minicamp: June 11-13

And in case you need a refresher, here—per the league’s official release—is what each phase of the program entails . . .

Phase One:

Phase One consists of the first two weeks of the program with activities limited to meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation only.

Phase Two:

Phase Two consists of the next three weeks of the program. Onfield workouts may include individual or group instruction and drills, as well as “perfect play drills,” and drills and plays with offensive players lining up across from offensive players and defensive players lining up across from defensive players, conducted at a walkthrough pace. No live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted.

Phase Three:

Phase Three consists of the next four weeks of the program. Teams may conduct a total of 10 days of organized team practice activity, or “OTAs”. No live contact is permitted, but 7on7, 9on7, and 11on11 drills are permitted.

Being that they have a new head coach (again), the Panthers are entitled to conduct an additional voluntary veteran minicamp—which must take place before the 2024 draft (April 25-27).

Making a case for Skyy Moore as Chiefs’ WR1 in 2023

Our @LazarczykLogan continues his four-part series exploring potential WR1’s for the #Chiefs in 2023 with a look at second-year WR Skyy Moore.

[anyclip pubname=”2103″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8036″]

Kansas City Chiefs WR Skyy Moore is looking to take a second-year leap in 2023 and he has received a ton of offseason buzz so far.

The 22-year-old WR is coming off a disappointing rookie season in terms of his on-field production. Winning a Super Bowl and catching a touchdown in the game is not something to gloss over for a rookie player. However, that was Moore’s only touchdown during his rookie campaign and it came against a broken defensive coverage.

Despite playing 16 games, Moore caught just 22 passes for 250 yards and no touchdowns during the regular season. There were moments on the road against the Chargers when the Western Michigan product came down with monumental catches to preserve drives. Hard work this offseason can propel Moore into what Chiefs fans thought he might be when he was selected in the second round of last year’s draft.

Throughout the offseason programs, specifically mandatory minicamp, Moore has been a standout player. Moore has gained a rapport with Chiefs’ starting QB Patrick Mahomes throughout the offseason, and it has shown in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 team drills. Andy Reid even said that Moore was targeted often and had among the most receptions during OTAs and mandatory minicamp.

Last season, Moore was moved around the field, playing in the slot and out wide. Coming into the NFL, it was assumed that the former second-round pick would orchestrate predominantly from the slot. The fact that he wore so many hats as a rookie really didn’t allow him to get comfortable with any singular role. That could change in 2023, with Moore playing a lot of the snaps vacated by JuJu Smith-Schuster. Route running and creating separation has never been a question mark with Moore, as he was quite impressive in that department for a stretch last season.

There is a strong chance that Moore will see a consistent role in the slot in 2023. Although you rarely see a slot receiver become a team’s WR1, it is not out of the realm of possibility in this iteration of the Chiefs’ offense.

Andy Reid shares thoughts on Chiefs rookie OT Wanya Morris

At the conclusion of mandatory minicamp, #Chiefs HC Andy Reid was pleased with what he’s seen from rookie OT Wanya Morris.

The Kansas City Chiefs invested a third-round draft pick in Oklahoma OT Wanya Morris during April’s NFL draft.

Early returns on the pick are high, at least in the eyes of Chiefs HC Andy Reid. While there is still a lot to learn about the prospect and player when the pads come on at training camp in July, Morris has met every challenge to this point. His familiarity with his teammates on the offensive line certainly hasn’t hurt as he adjusts to life in the NFL.

Speaking to reporters following mandatory minicamp on Thursday, Reid provided a first impression on the team’s rookie addition in the offensive trenches.

“Yeah, I like him. I like his ability,” Reid told reporters on Thursday. “I think that was a good pick there. So, we’ll just see how it all works out once we get going, but he held his own.”

Morris earned some repetitions at left tackle with the first-team offense during voluntary OTAs when Donovan Smith was absent. He’s worked with every unit from the first- through third-team offensive line thus far.

“He rotated in a little bit with the one’s and as (Offensive Line Coach) Andy (Heck) does, he kind of gets everybody going there,” Reid continued. “I’m curious to see how he does once we get going and he’s tired mentally and physically. Let’s see what happens then.”

Reid is anxious to see what Morris is able to handle during the dog days of training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri. That will be the true test and one that could set him apart from the rest of the rookie class heading into the 2023 NFL season.

5 standout players from Chiefs mandatory minicamp

Our @goldmctNFL takes a glance at five of the standout players from the #Chiefs’ mandatory minicamp practices:

The Kansas City Chiefs completed their three-day mandatory minicamp last Thursday, holding two practice sessions and a mock conditioning test during the week.

Mandatory minicamp is the first time that all 90 players are required to be in the building during the offseason program. It amounts to what Andy Reid has come to refer to as a “passing camp.” Basically, they’re focusing solely on the passing game because they’re not playing in pads, going full speed and engaging in contact practices yet.

Who impressed most during the two days on the practice field in Kansas City? Here’s a look at five players that stood out above the rest:

4 takeaways following conclusion of Chiefs’ mandatory minicamp

Here are some of the things @goldmctNFL is taking away from #Chiefs mandatory minicamp:

The Kansas City Chiefs wrapped up their three-day mandatory minicamp on Thursday, giving the team just a taste of what’s to come at training camp next month.

The team held two practice sessions and a miniature conditioning test on Thursday before calling it for the next month. Even with just two practices, there was still plenty to take away prior to the team traveling to St. Joseph, Missouri in July for training camp.

Here are four quick takeaways from everything that transpired at minicamp:

Here are the highlights from Broncos’ mandatory minicamp

This is the last we’ll see of Broncos players on the practice field until training camp begins next month.

After wrapping up organized team activities last week, the Denver Broncos held a mandatory minicamp this week to wrap up spring training.

The Broncos give limited windows for video and photography opportunities to media members during minicamp. Consequently, there aren’t many highlights from camp, but the team’s official Twitter page did post a short 20-second video on social media:

Denver’s players will now get a month-plus summer break until training camp begins in late July. Based on previous years, the team’s training camp schedule should be announced any day now.

Following training camp, the Broncos will have three preseason games in August — against the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams. After their preseason finale, Denver will have to trim the roster from 90 players down to 53 players by Tuesday, Aug. 29.
