Jonathan Mingo listed as limited participant on Thursday with Achilles injury

Panthers rookie WR Jonathan Mingo was a limited participant in Thursday’s practice due to an Achilles injury.

The Carolina Panthers just lost one of their 2023 draft picks for the rest of the season, as guard Chandler Zavala hit injured reserve on Wednesday. And unfortunately, they may have to keep their eyes on the health of another rookie.

Wide receiver Jonathan Mingo was added to Thursday’s injury report with an Achilles issue. He was a limited participant for today’s practice.

Mingo is coming off one of his best performances of the season, where he reeled in four receptions for 60 yards in the Week 12 loss to the Tennessee Titans. The second-rounder is now up to 286 yards on 28 grabs on the campaign.

Additionally, three players did not participate in the session—safety Vonn Bell (shoulder), outside linebacker Marquis Haynes Sr. (back) and tight end Hayden Hurst (concussion).

Panthers Week 11 inactives: Terrace Marshall Jr. a healthy scratch vs. Cowboys

Panthers WR Terrace Marshal Jr. is a healthy scratch for the Week 11 clash with the Cowboys.

Well, Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich won’t have to worry about forgetting Terrace Marshall Jr. this week.

The third-year wide receiver is a healthy scratch for Sunday’s matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Marshall Jr., who was reportedly granted permission to seek a trade earlier this season, has recorded 18 catches for 134 yards in eight games.

Carolina’s offense will also be without tight end Hayden Hurst, who is currently in concussion protocol. Fellow tight end Ian Thomas should, however, provide some depth—as he was officially activated from injured reserve on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthersm additionally, won’t have cornerbacks Jaycee Horn (hamstring) and CJ Henderson (concussion) nor outside linebacker Marquis Haynes Sr. (back)—all of whom were ruled out on Friday.

Here is the full group of inactives for the team in Week 11:

  • OLB Marquis Haynes Sr.
  • CB CJ Henderson
  • TE Hayden Hurst
  • G Nash Jensen
  • OT Ricky Lee
  • WR Terrace Marshall Jr.

And here’s who’s down for Dallas:

  • CB Noah Igbinoghene

Panthers Week 11 injury report: Jaycee Horn among 4 players out vs. Cowboys

The Panthers have ruled out CBs Jaycee Horn and CJ Henderson, OLB Marquis Haynes Sr. and TE Hayden Hurst for Week 11.

The Carolina Panthers have quite the task ahead of them this weekend in the red-hot Dallas Cowboys. And unfortunately, they’ll be without a few key defenders for the contest.

Cornerbacks Jaycee Horn (hamstring) and CJ Henderson (concussion) as well as outside linebacker Marquis Haynes Sr. (back) have all been ruled out of Sunday’s matchup. Tight end Hayden Hurst, who is currently in concussion protocol, will also be a no-go.

Carolina will, at least, have their top pass rusher in Brian Burns. The two-time Pro Bowler missed the Week 10 loss to the Chicago Bears due to a concussion.

Top takeaways from Panthers’ snap counts in Week 10 loss to Bears

Despite playing a team-low 17 defensive snaps, Panthers OLB Marquis Haynes Sr. registered a team-high five pressures in Week 10.

Did the Carolina Panthers find any answers from their most disheartening defeat of the season?

Let’s siphon some meaningful takeaways out of Thursday night’s snap counts.

DJ Chark inactive for Week 10 vs. Bears

Panthers WR DJ Chark, who was listed as doubtful for Week 10 with an elbow injury, is officially inactive tonight.

The Carolina Panthers knew their latest wave of injuries was going to leave them without at least four players in Week 10—outside linebacker Brian Burns, cornerback CJ Henderson, wideout Laviska Shenault Jr. and tight end Stephen Sullivan. And, as expected, they’ve added a fifth.

Receiver DJ Chark is officially inactive for tonight’s matchup against the Chicago Bears. Chark was listed as doubtful on yesterday’s final injury report with an elbow issue.

For insurance measures at the position, the Panthers have elevated Mike Strachan from the practice squad. Strachan, a former Indianapolis Colt under head coach Frank Reich, was signed back on Sept. 13.

Carolina has also padded their roster with two outside linebackers. Marquis Haynes Sr., who missed the first eight games due to a back injury, has been activated while Eku Leota is up for his third straight elevation.

Here’s the full list of inactives for the Panthers:

  • OLB Brian Burns
  • WR DJ Chark
  • CB CJ Henderson
  • G Nash Jensen
  • WR Laviska Shenault Jr.
  • TE Stephen Sullivan

And here’s who’s out for the Bears:

  • FB Khari Blasingame
  • OL Nate Davis
  • QB Justin Fields
  • LB Tremaine Edmunds
  • WR Velus Jones Jr.
  • DL Dominique Robinson
  • DB Terell Smith

Panthers roster heading into Week 10 vs. Bears

Carolina Panthers roster for Thursday night’s matchup with the Bears

The Carolina Panthers called up some help ahead of their Thursday night showdown against the Chicago Bears.

Heading that charge is outside linebacker Marquis Haynes Sr., who was activated after finally being designated to return from injured reserve earlier this week. He’ll be joined by fellow backer Eku Leota and wideout Mike Strachan, both of whom were elevated from the practice squad.

So, let’s take a look at who the Panthers will have at their disposal in Week 10:

Marquis Haynes Sr. activated before Thursday night game vs. Bears

The Panthers have activated OLB Marquis Haynes Sr. ahead of tonight’s matchup against the Bears.

An unsung hero of the Carolina Panthers defense has returned just in time.

As announced by the team on Thursday afternoon, just a few hours ahead of kickoff for tonight’s matchup against the Chicago Bears, outside linebacker Marquis Haynes Sr. has been activated. The sixth-year defender, who missed the first eight games of the season with a back injury, was designated to return from injured reserve earlier this week.

Carolina will already be without a slew of edge rushers for their Week 10 outing. Two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Brian Burns has already been ruled out due to a concussion while Justin Houston (hamstring) and Yetur Gross-Matos (hamstring) are currently on injured reserve.

Haynes Sr. finished with a career-high 5.0 sacks last season, the third-highest total on the unit. He also recorded bests in combined tackles (29), tackles for a loss (seven), quarterback hits (13) and passes defensed (four).

In addition to Haynes Sr., the Panthers are also carrying fellow outside backers Amaré Barno and DJ Johnson on their active roster.

Marquis Haynes Sr. designated to return from injured reserve

Panthers OLB Marquis Haynes Sr., who has been sideline all season with a back injury, has been designated to return from IR.

The Carolina Panthers just made a much-needed withdrawal from the shelf.

As announced by the team on Monday afternoon, outside linebacker Marquis Haynes Sr. has been designated to return from injured reserve. The 29-year-old has been out since the summer due to a back issue.

Haynes Sr. first sustained the injury during early on in training camp. He’d then, according to head coach Frank Reich, suffer a setback towards the end of August.

Carolina has already placed 12 players on injured reserve this season, with the majority coming from the defensive side of the ball. Those on the unit who are currently sidelined include linebackers Shaq Thompson, Yetur Gross-Matos and Justin Houston, safety Jeremy Chinn and cornerback Jaycee Horn.

The group could also be without another handful of key defenders on their short turnaround this week. Two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Brian Burns and starting cornerback CJ Henderson both left Sunday’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts due to concussions and may not clear protocol before Thursday’s showdown with the Chicago Bears.

Haynes Sr., who is now eligible to practice, will have 21 days to be activated to the main roster.

Jaycee Horn, Xavier Woods ‘ahead of schedule’ in recovery from hamstring injuries

Panthers HC Frank Reich provided an encouraging update on both CB Jaycee Horn and S Xavier Woods this afternoon.

All things considered (and things being a flurry of injuries and a not-so-complementary offense), the Carolina Panthers defense has been quite solid this season. But they’ll be a whole lot better when a particular pair of hamstrings finally heal up.

Those hammies belong to cornerback Jaycee Horn and safety Xavier Woods, who have now missed multiple weeks due to their early setbacks. Head coach Frank Reich was asked about their statuses on Wednesday.

“Making very good progress,” he replied. “Making very good progress. I don’t wanna put a timetable on ’em, but really encouraged with Jaycee’s progress and Xavier. I would say they’re both ahead of schedule—and encouraged by that.”

Horn went down in the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons. The 2021 eighth overall pick, who now has missed 21 of a possible 38 career games, subsequently underwent surgery on his hamstring.

Woods would pull up with his injury a few weeks later in Seattle. He has been sidelined for the last two outings.

Reich was also asked about outside linebacker Marquis Haynes Sr., who hasn’t appeared in any games in 2023.

“Marquis is doin’ well,” he said. “It’s probably gonna be another minute. Talked about him this morning, and he’s makin’ good progress. But we’re still goin’ week to week on that.”

Haynes Sr. injured his back early in training camp. He was placed on injured reserve to begin the regular season.

Panthers’ updated active roster as Marquis Haynes Sr. heads to IR

The Panthers are currently down to a 51-man active roster after placing OLB Marquis Haynes Sr. on IR.

The Carolina Panthers have temporarily lost another member of their active roster to injured reserve.

As announced on Monday, outside linebacker Marquis Haynes Sr. was shelved due to his back injury. Per head coach Frank Reich, the sixth-year defender—who was very confident of his availability for Week 1—sustained a setback in his recovery.

So, with two spots in the locker room now open, here’s how the 51-man roster currently stands:
