Hannah Cifers makes two-week turnaround to fight Mariya Agapova on Saturday

Two weeks removed from her last fight, Hannah Cifers is jumping right back into the octagon.

[autotag]Hannah Cifers[/autotag] will be jumping in as a replacement just two weeks removed from her last fight.

Melissa Gatto has been forced out of Saturday’s UFC event, and Cifers will step in to face [autotag]Mariya Agapova[/autotag]. MMA Junkie confirmed the news following an initial report from Combate.

The UFC’s Saturday event, set for the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, hasn’t been formally approved by the Nevada Athletic Commission but is expected to be later Monday.

After scoring back-to-back wins over Polyana Viana and Jodie Esquibel, Cifers (10-5 MMA, 2-3 UFC) has dropped her last two fights, most recently losing by first-round submission to Mackenzie Dern on May 30. She will look to avoid a three-fight losing streak when she faces newcomer Agapova.

Kazakhstan’s Agapova (8-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) suffered her first professional loss to Tracey Cortez on Dana White’s Contender Series last July but eventually signed with the UFC earlier this year after scoring two consecutive first-round finishes with Invicta FC.

I woke up every day, and watched the inscription on the sheet that I would fight in the UFC in 2020. And I went to ATT. Fighters from all over the world, from different states, are training there. And we have no one here but each other. We are really a huge family. And I’m incredibly happy that there are so many amazing people around me, and that I have become part of a huge family. In one family you are born, and one family you find(c) @brian666werner I’ll write a book soon guys. And now this book has a happy ending! And thanks to my beautiful followers, my suns for your help, donations and support! You were my ray of light in bad moments! A post shared by Maria Agapova (@mma.mashka) on

Agapova (8-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC)), who currently trains at American Top Team, had her first taste at a UFC opportunity when she competed on “Dana White’s Contender Series” this past July but fell short to Tracey Cortez. Following the loss, Agapova signed with Invicta FC, picking up two finishes over Alexa Conners and Marilia Santos, before signing with the UFC.

The UFC is rumored to be heading to Kazakhstan in June, which would be a perfect event for Agapova to make her promotional debut. Her next fight is yet to be announced.

Seven fights have been announced for the first Invicta FC card of 2020, including two intriguing fights at the top of the bill.

Invicta FC has a date, location, and lineup for its first event of 2020.

Friday, Feb. 7, Invicta FC 39 takes place at Memorial Hall in Kansas Ciry, Kan, the promotion announced in a press release Thursday. In addition, the promotion announced seven bookings are set for the event.

Invicta FC 39 marks the second time the two fighters have squared off. At Invicta FC 24 in July 2017, the two women competed in a three-round fight. After the two combatants utilized the full 15 minutes, the judges unanimously declared Frey the victor.

Also featured on the card, former Invicta FC title challenger [autotag]Pearl Gonzalez[/autotag] takes on [autotag]Miranda Maverick[/autotag]. Gonzalez (10-4 MMA) has won four out of five outings since being released from the UFC in late 2017. As for Maverick (6-2 MMA), the 22-year-old flyweight defeated three opponents in one night at Phoenix Series 2 in September.

Invicta FC 39 streams live on UFC Fight Pass (8 p.m. ET).
