BET the MARINERS (+125) because they have an edge in both the starting and relief pitching matchup. The Blue Jays are also struggling at the plate recently and hit worse vs. right-handed pitching.

Gilbert is a young pitcher with nasty stuff who we are buying on a dip since he lost his previous outing, but the Mariners are 4-0 overall in Gilbert’s past four starts as an underdog.

Berrios, on the other hand, grades in the bottom 13th percentile in xBA-xwOBA-xSLG slash line, EV, K% and whiff rate, according to Statcast.

The Mariners’ bullpen is 5th in xFIP (3.43) and Toronto’s bullpen ranks 21st in xFIP (3.96), per FanGraphs.

The Blue Jays’ batters are 27th in wRC+ (82), 26th in both wOBA (.280) and WAR (0.5) over the last two weeks. Seattle’s lineup is 8th in wRC+ (114) and 9th in BB/K rate (0.42) whereas Toronto’s lineup ranks 15th in wRC+ (100) and tied for dead-last in BB/K rate (0.28) against righties.

Even if the Mariners don’t pull off the upset, they should keep it close throughout. Back the MARINERS +1.5 (-115).

Over/Under (O/U)

Even with Ryu struggling, the Seattle offense isn’t a great bet to have a huge day against him.

On the other side, the Toronto bats are likely to have a hard time getting much going against Kikuchi. Look for this total to sneak in UNDER 9.5 (-105).

The BLUE JAYS -1.5 (-120) have outscored the opposition 26-9 during their three-game win streak, including 9-3 in the series opener against the Mariners +1.5 (+100) Tuesday. In fact, Toronto has won by two or more runs in each of its past five victories, and 12 of their past 13 wins dating back to June 5 have been by two-plus runs.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 10.5 (-110) is a great play here mainly due to Sheffield’s inability to keep the ball in the park. That will be especially problematic at the smallish Sahlen Field in Buffalo, N.Y. Toronto is averaging 8.0 runs per game so far on the homestand in its adopted home, and they’ll load up against the erratic Sheffield.
