Margot Robbie gave an incredibly classy response to Barbie’s Oscar snubs

Margot Robbie had the classiest response to Barbie’s Oscar snubs.

After Barbie lead Margot Robbie and filmmaker Greta Gerwig missed out on Oscar nominations in Best Actress and Best Director, respectively, Robbie has issued an incredibly thoughtful response to their exclusions in those categories.

Robbie and Gerwig did land Academy Awards recognition for the film in other categories, the former nominated for producing the film and the latter nominated for her work on the script along with husband Noah Baumbach.

However, that still left the two biggest contributions to the blockbuster film without nominations in a very competitive year for both categories.

Variety shared comments from Robbie at a recent SAG-AFTRA event where she talked about the omissions and why she’s still very thankful for how the entire process has gone for her with the movie.

“There’s no way to feel sad when you know you’re this blessed,” Robbie shared. “Obviously, I think Greta should be nominated as a director. What she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing. What she pulled off, it really is. But it’s been an incredible year for all the films.”

Robbie also commended the work of her fellow collaborators and said that the film’s ultimate goal has already been achieved.

“Everyone getting the nods that they’ve had is just incredible, and the Best Picture nod.” Robbie said. “We set out to do something that would shift culture, affect culture, just make some sort of impact. And it’s already done that and some, way more than we ever dreamed it would. And that is truly the biggest reward that could come out of all of this.”

Barbie‘s astronomical box office success ($1.446 billion worldwide) and its clear impact on the zeitgeist made it the cinematic event of 2023. Earning eight Oscar nominations for a film based on an intellectual property also was an achievement in and of itself, even if it missed in key categories for Robbie and Gerwig.

However, it sounds like Robbie is more than content with how the process has played out with her incredibly classy comments how the Oscar nominations unfolded.

Margot Robbie stuns at the Golden Globes in her dress channeling 1977’s Superstar Barbie

Absolutely gorgeous look from the Barbie star.

It’s Barbie’s dreamworld, and we’re just living in it. Greta Gerwig’s summer blockbuster Barbie made over $1.4 billion at the box office and helped revive the return to theaters that Hollywood so badly wanted.

Margot Robbie, the titular Barbie, looked fabulous throughout the press tour, often styled to look like iconic Barbie dolls from the past.

Well, the Golden Globes were no different for Robbie. She emerged from the limo in a gorgeous bright pink (no surprise there!) gown that sparkled and shone. For Barbie aficionados, the look was familiar as she channeled Superstar Barbie from 1977.

Absolutely flawless.

Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling and the entire Barbie cast shone on the pink carpet for the movie premiere

Plenty of pink, iconic looks and star power.

Barbie is one of the most highly anticipated movies of the summer, with Greta Gerwig’s comedy on everyone’s favorite doll hitting the big screens on July 21. For Monday night’s world premiere in Los Angeles, the stars took to the fittingly pink carpet to celebrate.

Barbie herself, Margot Robbie, and her Ken, Ryan Gosling, stunned in picture perfect outfits, while costars Issa Rae, America Ferrera, Michael Cera and Kate McKinnon stole the show.

Cera perfectly mimicked Gosling’s look, paying homage to the fact that the Allan doll could “fit all of Ken’s clothes.”

Barbie’s Margot Robbie, Greta Gerwig delightfully recreated Tom Cruise’s summer movie ticket photos

Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig are keeping Tom Cruise’s good movie theater vibes going.

Barbie star Margot Robbie and filmmaker Greta Gerwig are keeping the movie-loving goodwill alive that Tom Cruise started earlier this week.

On Tuesday, Cruise posted a series of photos with his Mission: Impossible –  Dead Reckoning Part One collaborator Christopher McQuarrie showing support for other films coming out this summer.

In the pictures, Cruise and McQuarrie posed with posters and tickets for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Barbie and Oppenheimer to show solidarity for the theatrical experience.

Well, Gerwig and Robbie delightfully decided to return the favor by recreating those pictures in front of posters for Oppenheimer, Indiana Jones and Mission: Impossible.

Well, isn’t this just the coolest thing?

While these films are competing against each other at the box office, they’re all united in helping support the theatrical experience, one that faced an uncertain future during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’ll take the entire industry to keep movie theaters strong, and one film’s success is a success for every film these days.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny filmmaker James Mangold also supported Cruise’s post by saying he’ll be showing up for all the other films that have been mentioned.

All that’s left now is for Oppenheimer director Christopher Nolan and star Cillian Murphy to do their own recreation of Cruise’s now-viral set of photos.

The newest trailer for Barbie finds the beloved doll out of the box

The newest trailer for Barbie has the beloved doll out of the box.

Barbie is out of the box in the latest trailer for Greta Gerwig’s cinematic imagining of the classic Mattel doll.

The film, starring Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, has its newest trailer out to give audiences their best glimpse yet into what Gerwig has planned for her Barbie movie.

As folks astutely pointed out that the previous trailer had Wizard of Oz allusions abounding, the film indeed shows Barbie and Ken traveling from their perfect dollhouse world into ours.

The trailer also gives audiences a better glimpse into Will Ferrell’s as the CEO of a toy company. Is this the film’s version of a villain? Will the Barbie movie even have a villain other than whatever existential crisis our heroine is going through? Could Ken be the bad guy all along?

We really don’t know, but we can’t wait to find out.

The film is set for release on July 21, going up against Christopher Nolan’s biopic Oppenheimer.

The new Barbie trailer is here and we still have no idea what this movie is

But it looks AMAZING.

Greta Gerwig, Margot Robbie and Barbie. What more could you ask in a movie? This July, we’ll get a feature film on the iconic toy, and we just got more cast photos and an official trailer.

Unsurprisingly, it’s very pink, and Margot Robbie (Barbie) looks incredible. Ryan Gosling (Ken) and Simu Liu (also Ken) seem to be mortal enemies — possibly fighting over our titular queen — in beautiful Barbie Land.

There’s an incredible supporting cast that includes Issa Rae (also Barbie), Kate McKinnon (another Barbie), Emma Mackey (yes, Barbie) and Dua Lipa (you guessed it, Barbie), plus humans in the mix with Will Ferrell playing the Mattel CEO. Add in Michael Cera (Allan), America Ferrera (Gloria) and Helen Mirren (Narrator), and you have a recipe for success.

The trailer looks incredible, but there’s just one problem. What is actually going on in this movie? Barbie seems to be living in Barbie Land and wants to head to the real world, but is the doll going to become a human? Regardless, I cannot wait.

Barbie hits theaters July 21, 2023.

The trailer for Wes Anderson’s new film Asteroid City is ridiculous and so is the cast

This is a who’s who of Oscar nominees.

There’s a popular cliché that all Wes Anderson movies look the same, which is a misunderstanding of the reality that no other movies look like Wes Anderson movies. The girls who get it, get it, and for those that appreciate the visual majesty, weird humor and heartfelt sentimentality of Wes Anderson, the arrival of his latest film is always a cause for celebration.

The trailer for Anderson’s Asteroid City has now arrived and the first thing that will hit you, outside of the absolutely STACKED cast list (we’ll get to that in a moment) is the stark yet beautiful color palette inspired by the 1950’s southwest.

The film, which centers around a group of characters confined together at the site of an ancient asteroid, has some movie fans buzzing already about Oscar potential for next year. The movie stars what can only be described as a galaxy of Hollywood stars:

Scarlet Johansson
Tom Hanks
Tilda Swinton
Bryan Cranston
Edward Norton
Steve Carell
Adrien Brody
Willem Dafoe
Hong Chau
Matt Dillon
Margot Robbie
Jeff Goldblum

Is that the entire cast? No, it’s not. That is just a list of the members of the Asteroid City cast who have been nominated for Oscars.

Take a look at the trailer and see if you can spot any other familiar faces.

There’s been a pause on the production of movies and other shows during the coronavirus outbreak, but people have nothing but time to go through movies and shows, if they are available. The James family, or at least the youngest member of it, seems to have found a new favorite.
