On this day: Celtics Waters, Webb debut for Boston; Strickland born

On this day, Celtics Tremont Waters and Marcus Webb made their debut for Boston, and Erick Strickland was born.

On this day in Boston Celtics history, former Boston Celtics two way point guard Tremont Waters made his debut for the team in a 103-102 squeaker of a win over the Sacramento Kings. The former Louisiana State University Tiger had been drafted by the Celtics with the 51st pick of the NBA draft that same year and had already begun to turn heads on his assignment in the G League with the Red Claws, Boston’s developmental affiliate based in Portland, Maine.

Waters scored a solid 7 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal, and 2 blocks with 2 fouls and as many turnovers in just under 20 minutes of playing time.

And while the Connecticut native had trouble finding his shot — he went 2-of-7 from the floor overall, 1-of-5 from beyond the arc, and 2-of-2 from the stripe — he found other ways to contribute.

Every player in Boston Celtics history who wore No. 41

Today’s installment focuses on the 10 players who wore No. 41 over the years as of Aug. 2023.

The Boston Celtics have more retired jerseys than any other team in the NBA, but that doesn’t mean the rest of their jerseys have little history of interest tied to them.

In fact, with 17 titles to their name and decades of competitive basketball played in them, their unretired jersey numbers pack in some of the most history not hanging from the rafters of any team in the league. To that end, we have launched our accounting of that history, with every player in every jersey worn by more than one Celtics player in the storied franchise’s history accounted for.

Today’s installment focuses on the 10 players who wore No. 41 over the years as of Sep. 2023.

On this day: Danny Ainge hired as GM; Rondo scores 28 points, 18 rebounds, 13 assists vs. Cavs

On this date, the Boston Celtics hired former player Danny Ainge as general manager, and Rajon Rondo went off for 28 points, 18 boards, and 13 assists vs. the Cavs.

On this day in Boston Celtics history, onetime Team President and shooting guard Danny Ainge was hired by the franchise in 2003 in his present capacity. Ainge replaced outgoing President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace, who had been with the team in that role since replacing Rick Pitino in 2001.

Ainge had a successful tenure as President of Basketball Operations, winning a title in the 2007-08 NBA season, and making an NBA Finals appearance two seasons later in 2010. His ability to seemingly always get the best of a deal has earned him the moniker “Trader Danny”, ranging from acquiring the contracts of Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett to forge the team that won Banner 17.

Perhaps his best-known trade was moving Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Brooklyn Nets in 2013 which netted what would prove to be one of the most uneven returns in league history.

Seahawks waive DE Marcus Webb to make room for TE Cam Sutton

The Seattle Seahawks waived defensive end Marcus Webb with an injury designation to make room for the signing of tight end Cam Sutton.

Following reports of signing tight end Cam Sutton, the Seattle Seahawks have waived defensive end, Marcus Webb.

Webb received an injury designation, but his injury is unclear at the moment. The Seahawks already had 90 players on their training camp roster, so they had to release someone to make room for Sutton. Unfortunately, Webb turned out to be the victim.

Webb went undrafted in 2020 and did not see any playing time for the Seahawks during the season, so he certainly looked expendable on paper.

Sutton also went undrafted and spent time with the Panthers before the 2020 season, but they waived him in training camp.

The Seattle Seahawks announced they have signed four players to the roster ahead of this weekend’s rookie minicamp, which is set to take place from May 14-16.

Seattle signed safety Joshua Moon, safety LaDarius Wiley, defensive tackle Walter Palmore and defensive end Marcus Webb.

This will mark Webb’s second stint in Seattle as he had signed with the Seahawks last spring as an undrafted free agent.

Seahawks waive UDFA DE Marcus Webb from Non-Football Injury list

The Seattle Seahawks waived undrafted free agent defensive end Marcus Webb from the Non-Football Injury list ahead of the 2020 season.

In the wake of the return of Patrick Carr and Seth Dawkins, the Seattle Seahawks have waived defensive end Marcus Webb off their Non-Football Injury list, reducing their roster to 78 players. The waiver was listed on Saturday’s official NFL transaction wire.

Seattle now has two roster spots available, but who the Seahawks plan to bring in is not clear. Jadeveon Clowney is still without a team, despite his statement that he would sign with a team before the 2020 season starts. The Cowboys have now officially signed Everson Griffen and there are not many high-profile players left in free agency.

The Seahawks could also take a minor player or two for depth purposes or promote someone from the practice squad, but they have the opportunity to make a couple of moves here, whatever the ramifications may be.

Seahawks place 3 rookies on Non-Football Injury list

The Seattle Seahawks have placed three rookies on the Non-Football Injury list to start the team’s 2020 training camp.

The Seattle Seahawks completed a number of roster moves on Monday, correlating with the start of this year’s training camp.

First, Seattle placed running back Rashaad Penny on the Physically Unable to Perform list to buy him some more time to recover from his ACL injury.

Next, the Seahawks placed three rookies on the Non-Football Injury list: tight end Colby Parkinson and defensive ends Darrell Tayler and Marcus Webb. All three will count towards the active roster.

Finally, the Seahawks waived defensive end Josh Avery with a non-football injury designation. Seattle had signed the rookie as a free agent this May.

These four moves have now officially been listed on the NFL’s transaction wire.
