The nation’s top quarterback recruits are gathered in Los Angeles for the Elite 11. Among those who accepted an invite is Penn State Class of 2023 commit [autotag]Marcus Stokes[/autotag], and he is receiving some good praise for his performance after the first day of the nation’s elite passing camp.

247Sports ranked Stokes as one of its top five quarterbacks after the first day of the Elite 11. Dante Moore, an uncommitted quarterback from Detroit, took the top spot in the ranking, followed by Oklahoma commit Jackson Arnold, USC commit Malachi Nelson, and Baylor commit Austin Novosad. Stokes is ranked No. 5 on the list, one spot ahead of Miami commit [autotag]Jaden Rashada[/autotag].

Here is what 247Sports had to say about Stokes after his first day at the Elite 11;

Stokes was fun to watch and might have had the quickest release in the event. He has quick feet as well and plays with a nice tempo to him. He has plenty of arm strength and doesn’t need much of a windup to generate the velocity to get the ball down the field. He’s a different type of quarterback than what Penn State landed in Drew Allar last year. Where Allar was a traditional drop back quarterback, Stokes can stress a defense with his arm and his legs and we like what both bring to the table.

Stokes confirmed his commitment to the Nittany Lions while out at the Elite 11. Stokes reportedly said he will not be making any more official visits and is locked in with his commitment to Penn State, thus shutting down any speculation that Florida may be able to convince him to stay closer to home.

Penn State Class of 2023 QB shuts down recruitment

Penn State can rest easy knowing this Class of 2023 commit says he is not making any more visits and is locked in.

Penn State will not have to worry about Class of 2023 commit Marcus Stokes looking elsewhere for potential recruiting opportunities. Stokes has reportedly shut down his recruitment and will not be taking any additional visits.

According to a report from 247Sports on Tuesday, Stokes confirmed he will not be taking any more college visits and is firmly committed to Penn State.

“Penn State has been building a huge recruiting class, one of the fastest growing in the country, and right now the message I give to other recruits is that it’s about family there and our brotherhood is so different,” Stokes told 247Sports while attending the Elite 11. “Everybody looks out for each other there and it’s a great culture.”

The confirmation from Stokes about his recruiting status should be music to the ears of head coach James Franklin after it was believed Florida could make a push to woo Stokes to head to Gainesville. Florida missed out on its top quarterback target to Miami despite reports of having a larger NIL package awaiting him. Stokes is a four-star quarterback from Florida, so it has to sting a little for the Gators knowing a prospect like that is heading up north to play for a Big Ten program.

Penn State’s recruiting efforts in the Class of 2023 continue to be putting together one of the top classes in the nation. Penn State has the nation’s No. 4 class at the moment according to the latest 247Sports composite rankings, and there is some projected momentum in Penn State’s favor with a few notable recruits closing in on their decision dates.

Penn State adds commitment from Yazeed Haynes to Class of 2023

Not long after getting an offer from Penn State, Class of 2023 receiver Yazeed Haynes has committed to the Nittany Lions.

Penn State’s Class of 2023 picked up another commitment from in-state on Sunday. [autotag]Yazeed Haynes[/autotag], a three-star wide receiver from Fort Washington, gave his commitment to the Nittany Lions with a message posted on his Twitter account.

Penn State quickly became a leader in the recruiting process after Haynes backed out of his commitment to Rutgers earlier this year. Haynes, who is entering his senior year of high school football for North Penn High School, was believed to be considering Penn State and Minnesota. Haynes made an official visit to Penn State over the weekend, leading to his commitment decision.

Haynes also just came off a solid showing at Penn State’s recent White Out Camp, where he was routinely paired with Class of 2023 quarterback commit [autotag]Marcus Stokes[/autotag]. It was at this camp where Penn State extended a formal offer to the in-state target.

So, as it turns out, it looks like we could very well be seeing Haynes and Stokes connect again in the future in Beaver Stadium.

Penn State Class of 2023 QB Marcus Stokes heading to Elite 11 Finals

Penn State is sending another quarterback commit to the Elite 11 Finals.

One of Penn State’s top recruits in the Class of 2023 is heading to one of the premier high school football scouting events. [autotag]Marcus Stokes[/autotag], fresh off an impressive showing at Penn State’s White Out Camp, has received an invitation to participate in the Elite 11 Finals later this summer.

Stokes, a four-star quarterback according to 247Sports, committed to Penn State in April. The Florida native was recruited heavily by offensive coordinator [autotag]Mike Yurcich[/autotag], who serves as Penn State’s quarterbacks coach as well. Stokes committed to Penn State a day after making an unofficial visit to the campus, and he has since made another trip to participate in Penn State’s recent camp.

The Elite 11 Finals are scheduled for June 28-June 30 in Los Angeles, California. Just being in attendance for this prestigious and highly competitive instructional camp is an honor itself, but the collection of some of the top talent in the country has proven to be a step along the way to some incredibly successful college careers. In all, 12 of the past 13 Heisman Trophy winners have attended the ELite 11 Finals or an Elite 11 Regional, and 15 of the NFL’s top 20 passers in 2019 attended the Elite 11 Finals or a regional final.

So, simply put, Stokes is already in some great company.

Stokes reacted to the invite on his Twitter account.

This is the second year in a row a Penn State quarterback commit has accepted an invite to the Elite 11 Finals. A year ago it was [autotag]Drew Allar[/autotag] who was looking to make a big impression at the Elite 11 Finals. Other past Elite 11 participants with Penn State ties include [autotag]Sean Clifford[/autotag], [autotag]Christian Hackenberg[/autotag], [autotag]Rob Bolden[/autotag], [autotag]Pat Devlin[/autotag], [autotag]Anthony Morelli[/autotag], and [autotag]Zac Wasserman[/autotag].

Gators eyeing this top-25 QB recruit, sets unofficial visit date

Napier and Co. are digging deep for quarterback recruits this cycle.

Head coach [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] and his staff are hard at work putting all of their efforts into rebuilding a once-storied Florida football program. As the summer months roll in, that endeavor is now laser-focused on the recruiting front, an area where previous coaching regimes have fallen short over the past decade and an imperative for any school looking to tangle among the top teams.

While the Gators are currently in pursuit of California quarterback [autotag]Jaden Rashada[/autotag] as their primary plan, the team is also considering its contingencies in case they fall short of their goal. Among those is three-star QB [autotag]Brock Glenn[/autotag] out of Memphis (Tennessee) Lausanne Collegiate School, who ranks in the top 25 at the position nationally.

According to On3’s Auburn Live, Glenn is planning on an unofficial visit to Gainesville on June 13, having already stopped by to see the Auburn Tigers and TCU Horned Frogs. The Tennessean play-caller also currently holds offers from a plethora of schools, including the Florida State Seminoles, Missouri Tigers, Kentucky Wildcats and Mississippi State Bulldogs, in addition to Florida.

The 6-foot-2-inch, 185-pound passer is the No. 406 prospect overall and the No. 23 quarterback nationally in the 2023 class per the 247Sports Composite, while the On3 Consensus has him at No. 484 and No. 24, respectively. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Auburn out in front in his recruitment with a 96.6% chance of landing him.

Penn State extends offer to former Rutgers commit following White Out Camp

Penn State extends offer to former Rutgers commit following strong showing at weekend football camp.

Penn State may have set its sights on an in-state wide receiver who performed well with a quarterback commit at its White Out Camp over the weekend. [autotag]Yazeed Haynes[/autotag], who previously had been committed to Rutgers, received an offer from Penn State after attending Penn State’s weekend camp.

Haynes is a three-star wide receiver from North Penn High School in southeastern Pennsylvania who committed fairly quickly to Rutgers after receiving a scholarship offer earlier this year. Haynes committed to Rutgers within three weeks of receiving his offer from the Scarlet Knights in March, but he decided to re-open his recruiting process two months later in May. Penn State’s offer is reportedly the first to come in since Haynes reopened his recruitment.

Haynes shared the news of the scholarship offer on his Twitter account on Saturday evening.

The offer to Haynes is notable, of course, because it is a player that a Big Ten division and regional recruiting opponent was pursuing and thought they had locked up. But the timing of Haynes’ offer is of note because he was pairing up plenty of times at Penn State’s White Out Camp with Class of 2023 quarterback commit [autotag]Marcus Stokes[/autotag]. Stokes performed admirably in his showing at the football camp, and Haynes was notably paired up with Stokes on more than one occasion. Perhaps not coincidentally, Haynes was viewed by some as the top receiver performer at the camp.

Could we see Stokes and Haynes teaming up together in Beaver Stadium a few years down the road? That remains to be seen, but Penn State should now be considered a strong contender in the recruiting process for Haynes.

Future Penn State QB Marcus Stokes stands out at White Out Camp

Future Penn State QB Marcus Stokes put on an impressive showing at Penn State’s White Out Camp.

While much of the focus on the Penn State quarterback situation is justifiably placed on what to look for in 2022 with the return of Sean Clifford and the addition of Class of 2022 quarterback Drew Allar, a look a little deeper into the future shows Penn State’s quarterback situation could be in steady shape for years to come. Penn State held its White Out Camp this weekend, and a future Penn State quarterback is receiving some good reviews for his performance.

Marcus Stokes, a four-star quarterback in the Class of 2023, attended the Penn State camp and put on an impressive show. This was his first time getting to do anything in front of head coach James Franklin and offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich since committing to the Nittany Lions in April. And the feedback suggests he did not disappoint. Stokes reportedly looked smooth and comfortable throwing the football and doing what was asked of him.

A report from On3 says Stokes was “easily the top performer” among the quarterbacks in attendance. Stokes also reportedly thrived in individual combine type drills including a 4.8-second 40-yard dash time.

According to Lions247, Allar also showed up to help at the football camp and took some time to catch up and work with Stokes a bit.

Penn State fans have good reasons to be looking forward to the future of the quarterback position in State College. With Allar coming in with the Class of 2022 and Stokes lining up a year behind him in 2023, Penn State looks to have some solid quarterback depth at its disposal in the years to come after Clifford ultimately moves on after the 2022 season.

Recruiting Snapshot: 4-star Quarterback Marcus Stokes

A snapshot profile at Penn State Class of 2024 four-star QB Marcus Stokes.

As we continue through our small (for now) list for 2023 Penn State football recruits, the next up is four-star quarterback [autotag]Marcus Stokes[/autotag]. The Florida quarterback committed to Penn State last month, in what continues a list of young quarterbacks with intriguing competition in the future.

The highly-anticipated signal-caller everyone is expecting to compete for the starting job after Sean Clifford leaves is still Medina High School’s [autotag]Drew Allar[/autotag], an addition in the Class of 2022 to the Penn State roster. However, Stokes is now the first recruited quarterback in Penn State’s 2023 class.

Florida football set to host this 2024 five-star QB

Coach Napier is getting an early jump on one of the top quarterbacks in the class of 2024.

Billy Napier and his recruiting staff will get their first chance to meet with California five-star quarterback [autotag]Julian Sayin[/autotag] on April 20, according to a report from 247Sports.

Despite only being a sophomore, the blue-chip signal-caller has plenty of visits lined up for the spring. He’ll be in Texas the day before he tours UF and will head to Penn State after leaving the Swamp. Florida’s interest in the Carlsbad High product began under [autotag]Dan Mullen[/autotag]’s staff, but Napier’s crew has kept in contact with him since taking over.

Sayin’s main connection at Florida has been offensive analyst [autotag]Ryan O’Hara[/autotag] but he hasn’t spoken with anyone on the new staff just yet. Once those introductions are made, it shouldn’t take long for UF to reoffer him.

Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas A&M and USC are a few of the other schools currently pursuing Sayin, and the list should only grow over the next two years. Florida recently lost out on 2023 quarterbacks [autotag]Chris Vizzina[/autotag] and [autotag]Marcus Stokes[/autotag], leaving the team in a tough spot at the position, so it’s good to see Napier jump on the next class early.

The 247Sports composite ranks Sayin No. 7 overall in the class of 2024 and No. 2 among quarterbacks.

Florida offers this 4-star quarterback out of California

Florida offered five-star quarterback Jaden Rashada in response to four-star Marcus Stokes committing elsewhere.

Florida’s quarterback board took quite a hit this weekend as it saw four-star [autotag]Marcus Stokes[/autotag] commit to Penn State and four-star [autotag]Christopher Vizzina[/autotag] left the Gators off his list of top six schools. Head coach [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] and off-the-field analyst Ryan O’Hara have already started making adjustments to their board as they offered five-star quarterback [autotag]Jaden Rashada[/autotag] out of Pittsburg, California on Friday.

The 247Sports composite ranks Rashada as the 29th best player and as the fifth-best quarterback in the country. He completed 57% of his passes for 2,220 yards, 20 touchdowns and five interceptions last season. Rashada added 193 yards and a touchdown on the ground during his junior campaign.

The Gators’ offer quickly came for Rashada after Stokes awarded his pledge to the Nittany Lions. Gators Online reported that Ole Miss, Oregon and Miami sit in the best spot for Rashada currently.

The next step for Florida is to quickly get him on campus, so it can start making ground up in his recruitment.
