Former Michigan State football DB transferring to Jacksonville State

Malcolm Jones, a former 3-star recruit in Michigan State football’s 2022 recruiting class, has found a new home. Jones announced on social media on Monday that he is committed to transfer to Jacksonville State.

Jones played in eight games last season as a redshirt freshman.

Another day, another Michigan State football transfer as the program has some clear directions now on who will fit in, and who won’t, with the new schemes being implemented by Jonathan Smith and his staff.

The latest loss is Malcolm Jones, a former 3-star defensive back who MSU was able to flip from Virginia Tech originally.

Michigan State football: Malcolm Jones reinstated to team amid suspension

MSU DB Malcolm Jones was reinstated to the team following suspension after the Michigan tunnel incident:

Eight Michigan State players were suspended following an incident inside of the tunnel at Michigan Stadium at the conclusion of the Spartans and Wolverines rivalry game on October 29th.

Of those suspended, six were charged with criminal misdemeanors and another with a felony. The only player not charged, but suspended, was defensive back Malcolm Jones.

Since being exonerated, Jones was reinstated to the team according to Mel Tucker.

The other seven players involved are still suspended from the team.

Michigan State football suspends four more players as result of Michigan tunnel incident

Four more Spartans have been suspended as a result of the tunnel altercation at Michigan Stadium

Michigan State athletic director Alan Haller and head coach Mel Tucker have released a joint statement as a result of the altercation inside of the Michigan Stadium tunnel following the rivalry game between the Spartans and Wolverines.

The statement includes four more suspensions to the Spartans football program as fallout from the incident.

Michigan State has suspended Jacoby Windmon, Brandon Wright, Justin White and Malcolm Jones as more investigations have concluded with new video evidence coming to light.

Analysis: Malcolm Jones is a heavy hitter at the safety position. He also has the speed and range to play at the free safety spot, as well as playing the strong safety position. Jones will be a versatile piece in rebuilding the secondary in East Lansing.

On the eve of signing day Michigan State has earned the commitment of Georgia DB Malcolm Jones

Michigan State fans were given a signing day eve gift as Malcolm Jones has made his decision to commit to Michigan State public. Jones is a native of Leesburg, Georgia, and plays for Georgia football powerhouse Lee County High School.

Jones was a longtime commit to Virginia Tech, and was 110% locked into the Hokies, growing a strong relationship with then head coach Justin Fuente. After Fuente’s firing, it opened the door for Michigan State to come in and steal Jones’s commitment.

Jones is a 3-star that was given a very nice 88 rating by 247Sports. A nice addition to the Michigan State secondary.

Previewing what to expect for Michigan State on early national signing day:

December 15th marks a very important day in the college football universe. It is the early signing period, where recruits in that year’s respective class can sign their National Letters of Intent, officially binding them with the school they committed to.

The Spartans coaching staff has done a really nice job piecing together their 2022 recruiting class, already holding 20 commitments. When the class is put together this well, it takes some of the drama out of signing day, but it definitely has not taken all the drama away.
