Although a few fan favorites are in the field this week — Jordan Spieth, Viktor Hovland and Matt Fitzpatrick — the galleries are moving their way through Pebble Beach Golf Links, Monterey Peninsula Country Club and Spyglass Hill in search of their favorite celebrities.
Star NFL quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Josh Allen, country music singer Jake Owen and the legendary Bill Murray are only a few names teeing it up in the celebrity division this year.
We thought it’d be a fun idea to go through some of the best celebrity swings at this year’s pro-am.
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll has finally indulged his annual tradition of posting clues about the team’s upcoming draft picks, albeit a little late this year.
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll has finally indulged his annual tradition of posting clues about the team’s upcoming draft picks, albeit a little late this year.
Coach just posted this clue on his personal Twitter account:
“Next year” could mean any number of things, but our best guess is it could mean they’ll wait to target a quarterback in next year’s draft. That would align with our analysis after they re-signed backup QB Geno Smith to a one-year deal, making him the odds-on favorite to start in Week 1. With Drew Lock also under contract, there just isn’t a whole lot of room left in the quarterback room this year. All that said, everything we’ve been hearing leads us to believe the team’s top target is Cincinnati QB Desmond Ridder, even if he’s not the first prospect they take.
Then again, the simplest explanation is that Carroll could just be saying that he’ll take up his usual draft clues again next year. After all, his team is now coming off its first losing season since 2011 and it wouldn’t come as a surprise if the front office is in serious-business mode.
We’ll find out soon. The draft is scheduled to begin in about 20 minutes and Seattle is picking ninth.
Former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has joined the Seattle Kraken hockey team’s investor group alongside Macklemore.
Marshawn Lynch is back in Seattle but not as a Seahawk. On Monday morning, the Seattle Kraken announced the former Seahawks running back, along with Grammy award-winning rapper Macklemore, had joined the hockey team’s investor group.
On God, I’ve been a part of a lot of things, but this is something I never would have imagined. As a young hyena I always dreamed of playing on a professional team but owning one is something special.
As I look back on some of my accomplishments – I retired before I was 30 and now being an owner of a professional club at the age of 35 – I’m gonna continue to count my blessings. Being a part of the Seattle Kraken is something big for me.
It gives me another chance to get a ring after helping bring the first NFL one to the city. And if you thought I was goin’ somewhere, nah Seattle, I’m here! Stand up!!!!
According to the team, in his role as an investor, Lynch will participate in the Kraken’s “Hockey is for Everyone” campaign and work with the club in planning events for young people as well as community activism.
Lynch also indicated he wasn’t afraid to step on the ice himself . . . perhaps a little something for Seattle fans to look forward to.

The rapper Macklemore became hooked on golf a little more than a year ago and is making his debut in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – All it takes is one shot to get hooked on this crazy game called golf.
For Macklemore, the Grammy Award-winning rapper known for hits such as Thrift Shop and Top 10, that moment happened on the day after Thanksgiving 2018 when he had nothing to do so he joined some friends in a round of golf.
“I hit a bunch of houses and then I hit a 5-iron out of the sand pure and I felt I needed to have that experience over and over for the rest of my life,” Macklemore said after shooting a best-ball 67 in the second round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at Monterey Peninsula Country Club’s Shore Course.
Golf has become the new-found passion of the 36-year-old musician born Benjamin Haggerty in Seattle. Macklemore burst onto the music scene in 2012 when he teamed with Ryan Lewis on a studio album, “The Heist.”
“I found something to do besides shopping in every city and being in the hotel room,” he said.
In just over a year, he’s improved to a 15 handicap and got a late invite to make his Pebble Beach debut when another celebrity dropped out. Rhythm and tempo aren’t a problem for him musically, but as for the golf course?
“Not so much,” Macklemore said. “When you catch it, it’s like, ‘Oh, that’s what I’m supposed to do?’ ”
So how did it go on Friday?
“It was inconsistent and at times embarrassing with moments of heroism,” Macklemore said. “You kind of soak in the fact that you’re going to be embarrassed and leave heartbroken at the end of the day, but it’s all about having a good time out here and I’ve been having a lot of fun.”
He is paired this week with Houston Open champion Lanto Griffin, whose cousin is married to Macklemore’s production manager.
“If we can get him a couple of lessons and a few things figured out I bet in four years he can break 80 on a tournament course like Pebble or Spyglass,” Griffin said.
Macklemore also has attracted his share of attention for his colorful outfits. On Friday, he he wore a red cardigan and tartan trousers with a matching racing cap. But Griffin said not to expect them to sport matching uniforms on the weekend.
“I asked Kis (Kevin Kisner) walking down one yesterday, ‘Do you want to play heads up? Whoever loses has to wear his outfit at Augusta this year. He said, ‘Absolutely not.’ ”
This absolutely will be the first of many appearances at the Pro-Am if Macklemore has anything to say about it.
“I wish I had picked up the sport a lot earlier in life,” he said. “I think it’s a fantastic game. It’s a great way for me to get outside of my head and just focus on something for four hours. I love that escape and working to get better.”
