Russell Wilson says relationship with Pete Carroll is stronger than ever

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson joined the Dan Patrick Show and explained his relationship with Pete Carroll is “stronger than ever.”

Russell Wilson joined the Dan Patrick Show on Wednesday to discuss a number of topics, including his offseason, the NFL’s expansion to a 17-game regular season and resulting playoff implications, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, baseball, and the desire to win it all in Seattle.

Of course, a chunk of the conversation centered around the myriad of offseason drama surrounding Wilson’s relationship with the Seahawks organization. He assured Patrick his relationship with head coach Pete Carroll is stronger than ever.

“Me and Pete have gotten even closer,” Wilson said. “We’ve always been super close. Pete and I, we’ve always had a great bond. I think we got to have a great heart-to-heart. He’s got goals. I’ve got goals. We want to do great things. To actually really dive into those and really talk about those missions, those goals, it was fun. So, I think me and coach Carroll’s relationship is stronger than ever and I think that’s the best part about it and also my teammates. We’re pumped about the season and getting back to playing ball and snapping the ball and scoring touchdowns and winning games.”

Wilson expressed his excitement about returning to the field with his teammates and getting to see fans at Lumen Field in 2021, but most importantly, getting another chance to win it all.

“I think more than anything else, you know what I care about, I care about winning,” Wilson said. “That’s what I want to do. So I just put my cleats on every day, and that’s always been my focus, that’s always been my goal.”

NFL stadium power rankings: Which team has the best home field?

The NFL has 30 venues within its realm with two of them shared by two teams. Here is a ranking of all of the stadiums across the league.

Although NFL coaches would like you to believe that they can play the game in any venue, or even in the parking lot or on the moon, the stadiums are as much a part of the game as the players themselves.

The stadiums bring their own unique characteristics to the sport. After all, it isn’t called “home-field advantage” for nothing.

In this ranking of NFL stadiums, such factors as fan participation are taken into consideration as well as architectural design and climate.

Football venues have come a long way since they had to share with baseball diamonds. Here is how far NFL stadiums have come.

Instant analysis: Seattle Seahawks fall to Los Angeles Rams in wild-card round

The Seattle Seahawks lost a heartbreaker at Lumen Field on Saturday, falling 30-20 to the Los Angeles Rams in the wild card round.

The Seattle Seahawks’ 2020 NFL season came to an end Saturday afternoon when the team fell to the Los Angeles Rams 30-20 in the wild-card round at Lumen Field. It was one of Seattle’s worst outings of the year.

Both teams struggled to start offensively, trading field goals through most of the first half of the game. The Rams were the first to post a touchdown – (defensive – on an interception return) – but the Seahawks followed quickly after when quarterback Russell Wilson found wide receiver DK Metcalf for 51 yards and the Seattle score.

That’s where Seattle’s offensive “attack” would sputter, however, with the Seahawks only able to muster a Jason Myers’ field goal in the third quarter. Even with Rams’ defensive tackle Aaron Donald absent and in the locker room with a rib injury, the Seahawks were seemingly unable to move the football.

Seattle’s defense had more success on Saturday initially but still wasn’t able to totally stifle Jared Goff, despite the injured thumb on his throwing hand. The final nail in the Seahawks’ coffin came in the middle of the fourth quarter when D.J. Reed fumbled the punt return and the Rams recovered, scoring their final touchdown just four plays later to make it a 30-13 game.

Late in the fourth quarter, Wilson and Metcalf were able to shrink the Rams lead back down to 10 points with another touchdown but it would be too little too late for the Seahawks. Wilson was sacked five times in the game and gave up a pick-six. He completed just 11 of his 27 pass attempts.

Los Angeles beat Seattle 30-20 and now advances to the divisional round next weekend.

Stay tuned for more Seahawks coverage all night and throughout the weekend as we wrap up Seattle’s 2020 campaign.
