Watch Luke Farrell’s parents get you ready for the game

Get ready for the game with some love from the tight end’s parents.

We found out earlier in the week that Ohio Stadium would be completely empty with even parents and family not allowed in the stands. But that’s not going to stop parents from doing everything they can to support their sons… and maybe embarrass them a little.

Tight end, Luke Farrell is doing his best to step up his game for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Now mom and dad are stepping up their game with their musical talents. With both dawning their custom No. 89 jerseys, dad on the trumpet and mom on the drums they’re cheering on the whole team today from home. Farrell even gets a “… love you” from mom at the end.

Gotta love parents who will do anything to let their kids know they are loved! Watch and enjoy!

WATCH: Ohio State offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson, tight ends speak to media

Ohio State offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson and three Ohio State tight ends took time to speak to the media on a Zoom call last week.

In the world of a pandemic, most of the media sessions are being done via Zoom calls with media members. The latest included availability from Ohio State offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson and tight ends Luke Farrell, Jake Hausmann, and Jeremy Ruckert.

They had plenty to say and took time to answer a myriad of questions from reporters that were on the call. In case you missed anything that was said, we’ve got it for you here thanks to the Ohio State Buckeyes Twitter account as well as on OhioStateBuckeyes.com.

Click on the below and listen to comments about Justin Fields development and switch to a vegan diet, how the tailback carries will be divided, the role the tight ends will play in 2020, and much more.

Ohio State is set to kick off the season on October 24 against Nebraska. Let the countdown continue.

Tight end Luke Farrell named to Mackey Award preseason watch list

Ohio State tight end Luke Farrell has been named to the John Mackey Award preseason watchlist as announced Saturday.

Another day, another Ohio State football player on a preseason watch list. This time, it’s Buckeye tight end Luke Farrell’s turn, as he has been placed on the Mackey Award preseason watch list. The Mackey Award goes annually to the best tight end in college football and has been handed out since the year 2000 by Nassau County Sports Commission.

Farell is entering his senior season at Ohio State and has blossomed into an all-around tight end. Not only is he dangerous as a pass-catcher downfield, but he’s arguably the best blocking tight end the Buckeyes have. His numbers declined just a bit from 2018 to 2019 because of the emergence of fellow tight end Jeremy Ruckert, but he’s a talent that has a shot at being drafted into the NFL next April.

The Mackey Award is all set to be handed out live on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 10, 2020. We add hopefully to anything relating to awards at this point, but you get the idea.

Ohio State has never had a winner of the John Mackey Award.

Five Ohio State football players selected as Big Ten Distinguished Scholars

Ohio State had five football players honored as Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Athletes Wednesday.

Five members of the Ohio State football team have been recognized as prestigious Big Ten Distinguished Scholars. TEĀ Luke Farrell, WRĀ C.J. Saunders, DLĀ Zaid Hamdan, LBĀ Ben SchmiesingĀ and SAFĀ Ryan Batsch all received the honor. Student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.70 grade point average for the school year to qualify. All five players are first-time honorees.

But that’s not all. Farrell and Schmiesing were among 13 football players in the entire Big Ten to maintain a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the 2019-20 academic year. In addition, Ohio State led the conference in the total number of Big Ten Distinguished Scholars with a whopping 164, surpassing the 131 from last academic year. OSU has led the conference now for five-straight years.

And yet, uneducated folks around the country rail on Ohio State’s academics.

Here are some notes about each of the five players provided in a release by the university.
