Country music star Luke Combs among Panthers fans already fed up after Week 1

Country music star Luke Combs was just one of many Panthers fans who were beat up over Sunday’s outcome in New Orleans.

The Carolina Panthers have been no strangers to the loss column in recent years, just as country music star and Luke Combs has been no stranger to expressing his frustration about the team that he loves. And that, even with the start of a new campaign, seemingly hasn’t changed.

On Sunday, the Panthers opened their 2024 regular season with an abysmal and embarrassing 47-10 loss to the New Orleans Saints. First-year head coach Dave Canales and company were thoroughly bested at every turn—as the offense chalked up more turnovers (three) than successful third-down conversions (one) while the defense allowed a score in each of their first nine drives.

Combs, who has previously gotten on the team earlier this year about owner David Tepper as well as their trade of Pro Bowl pass rusher Brian Burns, bleeds the Carolina black and blue. But he still couldn’t help but vent out once again . . .

Oh, and he wasn’t alone . . .

Well, the good news is that there’s still 16 games to go. But, uh, the bad news is also that there’s still 16 games to go.

WATCH: Texans QB C.J. Stroud joins Luke Combs on stage at NRG Stadium, owner Cal McNair shotguns beer

C.J. Stroud and Cal McNair were the stars on Saturday night opposite Luke Combs.

First, it was Glen Powell.

Now, it’s C.J. Stroud.

The Houston Texans quarterback joined Grammy Award-winning country artist Luke Combs on stage at NRG Stadium for night No. 2 of his back-to-back sellout crowd concert.

Several other Texans players joined the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year on stage, as did CEO and owner Cal McNair. Known for shotgunning beers with a select few folks before one of his hit songs, Combs toasted McNair before ripping one back.

Stroud looked the part of a native Texan, donning a white cowboy hat and Carhartt jacket. Several other Texans players were also seen wearing similar attire, embracing the culture of life at the home of the largest rodeo in the state.

It was a moment to remember for both Stroud and McNair, two fixtures of last season’s turnaround under first-year coach DeMeco Ryans. Fans cheered when Stroud took the stage, but erupted when McNair shotgunned on stage to cap off a memorable evening.

Combs might be gone, but the Texans have arrived following their 11-day road trip away from home. They’ll host the New York Giants on August 17 for their preseason home opener.

Kickoff is scheduled for noon CT.

Country music star Luke Combs, a big-time golfer, to be featured on 2024 U.S. Open coverage

Sports and music intersections take place all over.

Sports and music intersections take place all over.

For example, golf nut Justin Timberlake, while on stage performing, took a practice swing for LIV Golf’s Sergio Garcia to review. Guess JT is working on his takeaway.

If you like country music, get ready for some Luke Combs on the U.S. Open TV coverage next week.

NBC has announced that Combs will serve up the intro for Saturday’s open to the broadcast ahead of round three and will have some vignettes sprinkled in the weekend coverage.

Combs is a big-time golfer and last week, when his concert tour was in Arizona, made time for a pit stop at Ping to test out some gear.

You could tell he was thrilled when he got access to the gold putter room at Ping.

Then, during his concert at State Farm Stadium where the Arizona Cardinals play, Jon Rahm joined him on stage for some beverages.

Golfweek’s Adam Schupak contributed to this article.

Caitlin Clark got the coolest surprise after being drafted with a message from Luke Combs

This was a big night for Caitlin Clark and Luke Combs fans.

Caitlin Clark finally got her chance to go pro on Monday night as she was finally picked first-overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft to the Indiana Fever.

Right after that life-changing moment, Clark got a really neat surprise as her favorite music artist, country singer Luke Combs, wished her well after being drafted by Indiana.

We’re sure that Clark was stunned by such an awesome note of encouragement from someone whose music she loves, as this has to be one of the cool perks of being a sports superstar on such a monumental night.

Maybe Combs will invite Clark to a concert sometime soon?

Luke Combs shredded the Panthers for their questionable Brian Burns trade

Luke Combs was MAD.

Luke Combs is apparently a huge Carolina Panthers fan, something I just learned about the country star who covered Fast Car thanks to a post he threw up on X (formerly Twitter) on Day 1 of NFL free agency 2024.

Combs caught wind of the Panthers dealing pass-rusher Brian Burns to the New York Giants, getting a second-rounder and a fifth in return for a player who was rumored to be worth more according to reports that the Los Angeles Rams had offered two first-rounders previously.

His tweet was fiery as he wondered: “Are we just fire bombing the whole team here or what?”

Whew!

Country music star Luke Combs blasts Panthers for Brian Burns trade

Panthers fan Luke Combs may want a ticket to anywhere . . . but Bank of America Stadium.

Luke Combs has had it.

On Monday, the Carolina Panthers parted ways with yet another marquee name—trading two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Brian Burns to the New York Giants. The deal for the talented outside linebacker brought back a 2024 second-round pick, a 2024 fifth-round pick swap and a 2025 fifth-round pick.

And Combs, a well-known Panthers fan, doesn’t seem to be digging the decision . . .

The country music star also still doesn’t appear too keen on the organization’s trade of Christian McCaffrey back in 2022. That swap with the San Francisco 49ers got Carolina three picks in 2023 and one in 2024—none of which were first-rounders.

While he was one of the game’s premier rushers as a Panther, McCaffrey has emerged into superstardom out west—as an NFC champion and the 2023 AP Offensive Player of the Year.

So if Burns achieves similar success in the Big Apple, Combs might want a ticket to anywhere but Bank of America Stadium.

Fans were elated Tracy Chapman got her flowers during the Grammy performance of Fast Car with Luke Combs

This performance was fantastic.

Legendary singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman’s beloved anthem “Fast Car” was one of the biggest songs of its time, and for good reason.

Country artist Luke Combs’ 2023 cover blew up the charts as the fresh take reminded everyone of how good the original was while putting a new, satisfying spin on it.

During Sunday’s latest Grammys ceremony, Chapman and Combs finally joined together to perform the song live, and everyone was thrilled to see this collaboration finally take place.

The two did a fantastic job of balancing out each other’s takes on the song, and everyone in the room at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles loved the performance.

All the viewers at home were thrilled to see Chapman and Combs take on the song together, as it put Chapman back in the spotlight to earn some very deserving love as her biggest hit re-entered the zeitgeist with Combs’ cover last year.
