Florida making a good impression on this 4-star TE

Florida offered Luka Gilbert on Feb. 7 and the Gators’ coaching staff has made a solid first impression on the four-star tight end.

The latest recruit to be linked with Florida is Lakota West (Cincinnati, Ohio) tight end [autotag]Luka Gilbert[/autotag], according to Corey Bender of Gators Online.

Gilbert is a 6-foot-7-inch, 242-pound behemoth who is being pursued by Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State among other Power Five programs. The Buckeyes are considered the favorites to land the in-state recruit, but there is still plenty of time for other teams to jump out in front.

That’s exactly what Florida is trying to do. Tight ends coach Russ Callaway offered Gilbert over the phone on Feb. 7. The hope is to get him on campus during the spring, but Gilbert only mentioned Kentucky, Miami and Ohio State when listing his next stops.

The idea of playing for Florida still intrigues Gilbert, though.

“It’s definitely up there,” Gilbert said of UF. “Obviously, it’s an SEC school and that’s the best conference in the country. That’s big for me, playing against top competition and iron sharpens iron.”

Gilbert is a consensus four-star recruit, ranked the highest by On3 at No. 64 overall in the class of 2025. The On3 industry ranking, which considers all four major recruiting services, puts Gilbert at No. 147 nationally and No. 8 among tight ends.

Penn State offers Class of ’25 four-star tight end Luka Gilbert

Penn State sent another Class of 2025 four-star recruiting target home with a scholarship offer this weekend.

Penn State made sure to put on a good showing while hosting a number of recruits this weekend for a junior day event on Saturday. And in a few cases, the Nittany Lions made sure to send some top prospects home with a scholarship offer. One player returning home from the weekend with an offer in hand was tight end Luka Gilbert, a four-star player from Ohio.

“After a great Junior Dat at [Penn State], I’m blessed and honored to have received an offer,” Gilbert shared on his X (formerly known as Twitter) account on Saturday evening.

Gilbert is a 6′-7″, 233-pound tight end in the Class of 2025 from West Chester, Ohio. Gilbert is rated as the no. 9 player overall in the state of Ohio by 247Sports and is the no. 7 tight end in the nation according to the 247Sports composite rankings. On3 is even higher on Gilbert with the no. 4 ranking among tight ends in the nation and the no. 2 ranking overall out of Ohio.

Gilbert has a number of offers already on the table, including Ohio State, Kentucky, Michigan, Iowa, Michigan State, Rutgers, Duke, Miami, and more. There are no crystal ball predictions for Gilbert’s commitment available on 247Sports at this time. The On3 recruiting prediction machine currently calculates 37.4% chance he commits to Ohio State, and just a 6.3% chance of Penn State securing the commitment from Gilbert.

Penn State’s Class of 2025 currently consists of seven commits and ranks no. 8 in the nation early on in the recruiting cycle according to the updated 247Sports team rankings. On3 ranks Penn State at no. 12 in their updated Class of 2025 team rankings.

Ohio State misses out on 2025 Oklahoma tight end who commits to Midwest power

The Buckeyes still haven’t found a 2025 tight end #GoBucks

[autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] was in the running to add 2025 Oklahoma tight end [autotag]Nate Roberts[/autotag] after being named one of his top schools and hosting him on a visit earlier this month.

The old recruiting adage of getting the last shot to impress a prospect turned out to be true this time around as Roberts’ last visit to was South Bend. The 6-foot, 4-inch and 230 pound tight end selected Notre Dame from his final contenders.

It would have been nice to see Roberts end up in Columbus but at the current moment there are multiple other players at his position that the Buckeyes are recruiting heavily.

Georgia’s [autotag]Emaree Winston[/autotag] is high on Ohio State and there is potential for [autotag]Luka Gilbert[/autotag] to stay home and play for the Buckeyes as well. The search for a 2025 tight end commit continues.

Rutgers football joins the race for four-star Ohio tight end Luka Gilbert

Luka Gilbert was offered by Rutgers football this week.

Luke Gilbert added a Rutgers football offer on Thursday as the Scarlet Knights joined what is essentially the rest of the Big Ten for the Ohio tight end.

A four-star recruit from Lakota West (West Chester, OH), Gilbert is class of 2025 recruit. He is ranked as the No. 118 player in the nation as well as the fourth-best tight end and the second-best player in the state in his class per 247Sports.

His offer list includes Power Five programs such as Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio State among others.

Gilbert has an impressive build and frame at 6-foot-7 and 225 pounds. He catches the ball at it’s high point and is physical on the line. He does a nice job of getting separation down the field on his routes and has good footwork.

The footwork isn’t a big surprise given that Gilbert is also a standout basketball player.

On the football field, however, Gilbert was a huge part of a powerhouse program. Lakota West finished last season 13-1.
