UFC Fight Night 191: Paddy Pimblett vs. Luigi Vendramini odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 191 odds and lines between Paddy Pimblett and Luigi Vendramini, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a lightweight bout on the main card, Paddy Pimblett faces Luigi Vendramini Saturday at UFC Fight Night 191 – also known as UFC Vegas 36 – at the UFC’s APEX Facility. Below, we analyze the UFC Fight Night 191: Pimblett vs. Vendramini odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The entire card can be viewed on ESPN+ with the prelims beginning at 7 p.m. ET and the main card at 10 p.m. ET.

Pimblett makes his UFC debut. His most recent fight was a victory over Davide Martinez by way of submission/rear-naked choke at CW 122 March 20. In 19 career professional bouts he has 13 finishes, winning five fights via KO/TKO (5-0) and seven bouts by way of submission (7-1).

Vendramini is looking to bounce back after a disappointing majority-decision setback against Fares Ziam at UFC 263 on June 12. Since joining the promotion, Vendramini has won just once in three fights with two bouts ending via KO/TKO (1-1).

UFC Fight Night 191 Pimblett vs. Vendramini: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Records: Pimblett (16-3-0) | Vendramini (9-2-0)

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

PIMBLETT (-160) is a solid play in his UFC debut as he looks to push past the disappointing Vendramini (+125). Two of Pimblett’s past three victories have been by way of submission with the rear-naked choke his speciality.

Take PIMBLETT BY SUBMISSION (+300) lightly for a chance to triple up.

Over/Under (O/U)

Playing NO (-170): WILL THE FIGHT GO THE DISTANCE? is a little expensive but a good play in this one. Pimblett has had stoppages in three of his past four fights while just one of Vendramini’s 11 professional bouts have needed the assistance of the judges. UNDER 2.5 ROUNDS (-133) is a worthwhile play, too.

The UFC is back in Las Vegas this week with a middleweight clash at the top of the bill.

UFC Fight Night 191 takes place Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card streams on ESPN+.

(Click here to open a PDF of the staff picks grid in a separate window.)

In the main event, [autotag]Derek Brunson[/autotag] (22-7 MMA, 13-5 UFC) takes on former welterweight title challenger [autotag]Darren Till[/autotag] (18-3-1 MMA, 6-3-1 UFC) in what could prove to be a key middleweight fight. Till is a fairly sizable favorite at -190 at Tipico, but our 13 editors, writers, radio hosts and videographers are siding with the underdog, Brunson, at a 9-4 clip.

In the co-feature, [autotag]Tom Aspinall[/autotag] (10-2 MMA, 3-0 UFC) meets [autotag]Serghei Spivac[/autotag] (13-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) in a light heavyweight fight. Aspinall is the biggest favorite on the main card at -260, and he’s our only unanimous pick at 13-0.

Also on the main card, [autotag]Alex Morono[/autotag] (19-7 MMA, 8-4 UFC) fights [autotag]David Zawada[/autotag] (17-6 MMA, 1-3 UFC) at welterweight. Morono is a slight favorite at -140, and he’s got a big 11-2 lead in the picks from our staff members.

[autotag]Modestas Bukauskas[/autotag] (11-4 MMA, 1-2 UFC) takes on [autotag]Khalil Rountree[/autotag] (8-5 MMA, 4-5 UFC) in a light heavyweight bout. Bukauskas is the betting favorite at -160, but it’s underdog Rountree with a 9-4 lead from our pickers.

And to open the main card, [autotag]Paddy Pimblett[/autotag] (16-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) makes his promotional debut at lightweight against [autotag]Luigi Vendramini[/autotag] (9-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC). Pimblett is a -165 favorite, and only two of our pickers are taking Vendramini in an upset.

In the MMA Junkie reader consensus picks, Till (57 percent), Aspinall (84 percent), Morono (80 percent), Rountree (57 percent) and Pimblett (82 percent) are the choices.

Paddy Pimblett vs. Luigi Vendramini added to Sept. 4 UFC event in London

Paddy Pimblett set to make UFC debut against Luigi Vendramini at a UFC event in London on Sept. 4.

[autotag]Paddy Pimblett[/autotag] has a date and opponent for his highly-anticipated UFC debut.

The former Cage Warriors featherweight champion has been scheduled to take on [autotag]Luigi Vendramini[/autotag] on Sept. 4 at a UFC event in London, England. The news was confirmed by MMA Junkie on Friday after an initial report from Combate.

Pimblett (16-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is looking to get his first UFC win and extend his winning streak to three in a row. The Englishman won the Cage Warriors 145-pound belt in 2016 and subsequently lost the title in the following bout. “The Baddy” last fought in March when he submitted Davide Martinez.

Meanwhile, Luigi Vendramini (9-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) is out to bounce back from his defeat to Fares Ziam last month at UFC 263. The Brazilian made his UFC debut in August 2018 and has only been able to compete three times since, going 1-2.

Luigi Vendramini vs. Fares Ziam added to UFC 263 on June 12

A battle between lightweight prospects Luigi Vendramini and Fares Ziam is the latest addition to UFC 263.

A battle between lightweight prospects is the latest addition to UFC 263.

[autotag]Luigi Vendramini[/autotag] (9-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) will take on [autotag]Fares Ziam[/autotag] (11-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) on June 12 in an event that does not yet have an announced venue or location.

Two people with knowledge of the matchup informed MMA Junkie of the booking on Friday but asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

Vendramini had an impressive showing in his UFC debut in September 2018, but was ultimately stopped by Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos. An ACL surgery forced him to the sidelines for more than two years until he finally made his return at UFC on ESPN 16 this past October. He made quick work of Jessin Ayari to earn a “Performance of the Night” bonus for his first-round knockout.

French-Algerian Ziam also has split his first two UFC appearances. After getting outgrappled by Don Madge in his promotional debut at UFC 242, the 23-year-old rebounded with a unanimous decision win over Jamie Mullarkey at UFC Fight Night 180 this past October.

With the addition, the UFC 263 lineup now includes:

  • Champ Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno – for flyweight title
  • Jake Collier vs. Carlos Felipe
  • Luigi Vendramini vs. Fares Ziam

Video: Luigi Vendramini gets UFC on ESPN 16 started with a bang

For someone who was out two years, Luigi Vendramini sure seemed in a rush to get in and out of the octagon Saturday night.

It had been more than two years since [autotag]Luigi Vendramini[/autotag] last fought, but he sure seemed like he was in a rush to get in and out of the octagon Saturday night.

The Factory X fighter got UFC on ESPN 16 off to a sensational start when he needed just 72 seconds to finish [autotag]Jessin Ayari[/autotag] in their lightweight bout.

The end came fast when Vendramini (9-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) clobbered Ayari (16-6 MMA, 1-3 UFC) with a perfect counter right, then pushed forward and landed left and right hands. A beautiful head kick in close landed shin clean on chin, and that was all she wrote.

After the win, Vendramini, whose last fight was in September 2018, leaped into the arms of his father and cornerman, Augusto, and burst into tears. He then explained the basis for his emotions in his post-fight interview.

[lawrence-related id=556596,556598,556690]

“I waited for two years, two surgeries. I hurt my shoulder – terrible,” said Vendramini, who has all nine of his career wins by finish. “Everything that happens here is for a reason. It’s amazing now.”

UFC on ESPN 16 took place Saturday at Flash Forum at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The main card aired on ESPN and streams on ESPN+ following prelims on ESPN+.
