New Mexico State at Louisiana Tech odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s New Mexico State at Louisiana Tech odds and lines, with college football expert picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New Mexico State Aggies (5-3, 3-1 Conference USA) and Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (3-5, 2-2) are lined up for a Tuesday night tussle.
Kickoff at Joe Aillet Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the New Mexico State vs. Louisiana Tech odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

New Mexico State has won 3 straight games. The most recent of those was a 28-7 win at UTEP last Wednesday. The Aggies covered as 2.5-point favorites in that game and have won 3 in a row against the spread (ATS). NMSU runs 1 of the slowest-tempo offenses in FBS, but the Aggies are averaging a robust 7.7 yards per play (4th in FBS).

The Bulldogs last played Oct. 10 (31-23 loss to Middle Tennessee), and they sport more of a middle-of-the-road offense. Their 5.8 YPP ranks 64th. Louisiana Tech has lost 4 of its last 5 games.

Tuesday’s contest in northern Louisiana will mark the 1st meeting between the Aggies and Bulldogs since 2012.

New Mexico State at Louisiana Tech picks and predictions

Prediction

New Mexico State 31, Louisiana Tech 24

Moneyline

New Mexico State has hit the moneyline in 9 of its last 12 games (+16.75 units, 35% ROI).

The Aggies have the advantage in this one with regard to how their offense stays on schedule. LTU is solid against the run, and that fits well against an NMSU strength, but the Aggies can also move the ball through the air, as evidenced by a respectable 237.5 yard-per-game average in passing gains.

The Bulldogs defense has often benefited from a bend-don’t-break ability to slow opponents inside its own 40. But look for New Mexico State — a team on a better trend line — to have success on 1st downs and create better scoring chances.

Consider putting half-a-unit on the AGGIES (+120) and a half-unit on …

Against the spread

… the AGGIES +2.5 (-105) as a bit of insurance.

NMSU is an overall moderate lean here against a Louisiana Tech squad that may well exhibit some rust in its return to play in Ruston.

Over/Under

The Aggies defense can fall off schedule as much as its offense stays on. A decent back-and-forth scoring spiral could well develop in this one. The Over is a lean but there is a decent chance of a double-digit breeze tamping down the passing a bit. PASS.

Western Kentucky at Louisiana Tech odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Western Kentucky at Louisiana Tech odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (3-2, 1-0 CUSA) and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (3-3, 2-0) meet Thursday at Joe Aillet Stadium in Ruston, La., for a Conference USA tilt. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ESPNU). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Western Kentucky vs. Louisiana Tech odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Hilltoppers picked up a 31-10 victory against Middle Tennessee last Thursday in their CUSA opener as they bounced back from consecutive road losses at Ohio State and Troy. Western Kentucky cashed as a 6.5-point favorite as the Under (60.5) connected. and has covered the past 2 games to improve to 3-2 against the spread (ATS) overall.

The Bulldogs halted a 2-game skid with a 24-10 win at UTEP last Friday, its 2nd win in as many tries in conference play. Louisiana Tech has covered 2 in a row, and 3 of the past 4 games overall, while cashing the Under in the past 2 outings. The Under is 4-2 in the past 6 games overall, too.

Western Kentucky at Louisiana Tech picks and predictions

Prediction

Western Kentucky 36, Louisiana Tech 25

Moneyline

Western Kentucky (-250) will cost you 2 1/2 times your potential return, which is too much risk and not enough reward for a road team in a conference battle.

The Hilltoppers have dropped both of their games on the road this season while Louisiana Tech is 2-1 SU in 3 games at home this season, although it lost against North Texas in Ruston in the most recent home contest.

AVOID.

Against the spread

WESTERN KENTUCKY -6.5 (-105) is worth a look in this road game, especially if it remains under 7. The road team has cashed the past 2 meetings in this series.

The Hilltoppers have cashed in 2 straight games (at Troy, vs. Middle Tennessee) while going 3-1 ATS in 4 games against FBS opponents. The only non-cover for WKU is a road game against Ohio State. Back the ‘Toppers.

Over/Under

OVER 59.5 (-110) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.

The Under has cashed in each of the past 2 games for Western Kentucky, although this offense averages 284.6 passing yards per contest while racking up 31.6 PPG. On the flip side, the Hilltoppers defense struggles with 472.8 total yards per game, and 205.2 rushing yards per contest, both ranked 125th or lower in FBS.

WKU has coughed up 29.2 PPG too, so there is the opportunity for Louisiana Tech to flourish.

Louisiana Tech at Clemson odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Louisiana Tech at Clemson odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (1-1) travel to Death Valley to take on the Clemson Tigers (2-0) Saturday. Kickoff is 8 p.m. ET (ACC Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Louisiana Tech vs. Clemson odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Bulldogs enter the game coming off a 52-17 win against FCS school Stephen F. Austin after an opening 52-24 loss against the Missouri Tigers. QB Parker McNeil led the way with 197 yards passing along with 3 TDs while RB Marquis Crosby added 196 yards rushing and 2 TDs. WRs Tre HarrisGriffin Herbert, and Smoke Harris each had a TD reception as the Bulldogs offense totaled 515 yards. They will hope for some explosive plays to get on the board early against a much stronger Clemson team.

The Tigers beat FCS school Furman last week 35-12 after a 41-10 win over Georgia Tech in the opener. QB DJ Uiagalelei had 21 completions for 231 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT while RB Will Shipley rushed for 68 yards with 2 TDs on 10 carries. In an atypical fashion, the Tigers struggled to bury their opponent. They had 2 turnovers and gave up more yards than they gained (384-376). They also had 6 penalties for 45 yards.

Clemson has beaten Louisiana Tech the 3 times they’ve played with the last meeting in 2006.

Louisiana Tech at Clemson picks and predictions

Prediction

Clemson 45, Louisiana Tech 13

Money line

PASS. The -10000 odds will not return the rewards to make the risk worth the play.

Against the spread

LOUISIANA TECH +33.5 (-112).

The Bulldogs are a sound team coming off a game in which they were able to fine-tune their strengths. Although the Tigers will most likely separate themselves by halftime, LA Tech should be able to score enough points to cover. Furthermore, Clemson is just 1-8 ATS in September in their last 9 games.

Over/Under

UNDER 53.5 (-112).

This is not the offensive-dominant Clemson team that we have seen in previous years, rather the defense is the strong point of this team. For that reason, the under is a strong play. The under is 4-0 in the previous 4 Tigers games overall and 5-0-1 in their last 6 non-conference games.

Louisiana Tech at Missouri odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Louisiana Tech at Missouri odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Missouri Tigers kick off the 2022 season Thursday against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. Kickoff from Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium in Columbia, Mo., is set for 8 p.m. ET (ESPNU). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Missouri vs. Louisiana Tech odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Tigers finished 6-7 last season and have toed the .500 line for two years under coach Eli Drinkwitz. They’ll look to get above the average hump this season with quarterback Brady Cook leading the way. Cook went 27-for-34 with 238 yards and 2 total touchdowns in the team’s 24-22 bowl loss against Army last year.

New Bulldogs coach Sonny Cumbie has his work cut out for him as he tries to turn around a 3-9 squad from 2021. With Cumbie comes a new quarterback, TCU transfer Matthew Downing, who was recently named the Week 1 starter. Downing has yet to play a complete game in college and could be on a short leash if the offense isn’t working early in the season.

Louisiana Tech at Missouri picks and predictions

Prediction

Missouri 38, Louisiana Tech 24

Money line

It’s safe to go ahead and PASS on the money line for this matchup, which sees a minimal 10 percent return for playing Missouri as the winner. Missouri generally wins games it should, winning 14 of its last 16 games in Week 1, but early season shenanigans make this not worth putting down so much for such little return.

Against the spread

With such a huge line, LOUISIANA TECH +19.5 (-110) is probably a safer bet in this matchup. This will most likely be an easy win for Missouri but the Tigers tend not to cover even against weaker programs.

Last season Missouri failed to cover against Central Michigan, Southeast Missouri State and North Texas despite being double-digit favorites in each game.

Over/Under

The OVER 60.5 (-108) is worth a play considering the offensive-mindedness of these teams. Missouri will look to air it out early, getting 5-star freshman wideout Luther Burden as much work as possible. Louisiana Tech should carry a similar pass-heavy approach and could earn a heap of second-half points against a Missouri defense that has improved on paper but still carries plenty of question marks heading into the season.

Southern Miss at Louisiana Tech odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Southern Miss at Louisiana Tech odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles (1-9, 0-6 CUSA) and Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (3-7, 2-4) meet Friday for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff at Joe Aillet Stadium in Ruston, La. Below, we look at the Southern Miss vs. Louisiana Tech odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Southern Miss lost to Texas-San Antonio Saturday and has dropped eight straight games. The Golden Eagles had just 189 total yards against UTSA, and they have averaged an anemic 202.6 yards per contest since Oct. 9. The Eagles’ season average (245.8 yards per game) ranks last in FBS.

The Bulldogs had a losing skid of their own going until they defeated the Charlotte 49ers 42-32 Saturday. The 42 points marked LTU’s most in a single game since Sept. 11. RB Marcus Williams Jr. logged season highs in carries (29) and rushing yards (131) in a contest that saw him score four touchdowns. Louisiana Tech tallied a season-high 504 total yards.

Southern Miss at Louisiana Tech odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Louisiana Tech 30, Southern Miss 21

Money line

PASS: look to leverage a slight advantage on a USM side against the spread.

Against the spread

Louisiana Tech likes to pass and while Southern Miss has given up a slew of big plays through the air it’s otherwise near-average in keeping opponents off schedule. The Eagles’ overall defense has underlying numbers that spell a better fate than yielding 29.9 points per game.

With regard to the exchange on fumbles and interceptions, peg the Bulldogs as being a shade “turnover lucky” through 10 games.

The underdog is 5-1 across the last six games of this series. TAKE SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI +15.5 (-112) in Friday’s contest.

Over/Under

The Eagles’ offense has been awful, yes, but USM is up against a shaky LTU defense that ranks 113th nationally in total yards allowed (448.7 per game) and is particularly iffy against the pass (285.8 yards per game). The Eagles figure to have more success in their aerial game than usual Friday.

On a decent-weather night and with an extra possession or two, LEVERAGE SOME VALUE ON THE OVER 47.5 (-120).

Louisiana Tech at UTEP odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Louisiana Tech at UTEP odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (2-3, 1-0 CUSA) and UTEP Miners (5-1, 2-0) meet Saturday for a Conference-USA West Division game with a 9 p.m. ET kickoff at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas. Below, we look at the Louisiana Tech vs. UTEP odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Louisiana Tech enters this game off a hard-fought loss at then-ranked North Carolina State followed by a bye week. The Bulldogs are a throw-first team with a quarterback – Austin Kendall – who can also produce with his legs. Can LTU be productive on the road, though? Dating back to last season, the Bulldogs are 1-5 over their last six road games.

The Miners have been solid defensively, especially against the run. They are coming off a 27-13 win at Southern Miss in which they held the Golden Eagles to just 15 rushing yards. UTEP has held foes under 2.7 yards per rushing attempt in back-to-back games. The Miners enter this game on a three-game win streak.

Louisiana Tech at UTEP odds, spread and lines

Louisiana Tech at UTEP odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

UTEP 31, Louisiana Tech 27

Money line

Underappreciated Team from El Paso. UTEP is a live underdog in this home game and a genuine threat to pull off the outright victory, which would run the Miners home mark to 4-0.

Texas-El Paso may well show some improved passing numbers in this game: Louisiana Tech coughs up 320.6 aerial yards per contest, which ranks 129th in the nation. La. Tech doesn’t cause much havoc, and UTEP could find some success if it can leverage the play-action game.

The Miners are solid on the defensive line, and they do create havoc. That could spell a close game late for the Bulldogs.

TAKE UTEP (+205).

Against the spread

The Miners have been iffy on finishing offensive drives, but LTU struggles defensively in that same category. If UTEP can just be successful at a near-average level, the Miners have a solid opportunity to keep this game within a field goal.

TAKE UTEP +6.5 (-107): consider pairing this play with the above, using partial units on both.

Over/Under

Lots of cross signals here: PASS.

Louisiana Tech at Mississippi State odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Louisiana Tech Bulldogs at Mississippi State Bulldogs odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and Mississippi State Bulldogs will meet in the season opener at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Miss. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Louisiana Tech at Mississippi State odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

MSU was 4-7 last year, 3-7 in SEC conference play, in their first season under head coach Mike Leach. They made a statement in their first game last year, though, knocking off eventual national champs LSU in their house 44-34. Leach is leaning toward quarterback Will Rogers in the opener. Rogers took over midway through last season and completed 69.1 percent of his passes for 1,976 yards, 11 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.

Louisiana Tech was 5-5 last season with a 4-2 mark inside the Conference USA. They’re returning 18 starters with 10 of them on the defensive side of the ball. Head coach Skip Holtz hopes to get their offense rolling early as they know the steep task ahead on the road.

Louisiana Tech at Mississippi State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Mississippi State 31, Louisiana Tech 20

Money line

Mississippi State (-3000) will cost you 30 times your potential return, and that’s just too much risk for not much reward. Just focus on the spread instead.

AVOID.

Against the spread

LOUISIANA TECH +22.5 (-108) is not a pushover, having made seven consecutive trips to a bowl game. The offense gets a big shot in the arm with incoming transfer RB Marcus Williams from Appalachian State. The big question is whether QB Luke Anthony will be able to return to his pre-injury form after an ugly leg injury in December.

Mississippi State -22.5 (-112) should be able to win this game, but they have work to do. Leach has found it a slow-go trying to implement his “Air Raid” offense in Starkville, Miss.

Over/Under

UNDER 52.5 (-110) is worth a look for a small-unit play. While the focus on Mississippi State last season was its struggling offense, the defense quietly put together a great campaign. The Bulldogs allowed just 5.48 yards per play, fourth-best in the ultra-competitive SEC.

Week 1 first look: Louisiana Tech Bulldogs at Mississippi State Bulldogs odds and lines, MSU expected to cruise

Previewing the college football Week 1 matchup between the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and Mississippi State Bulldogs, with odds, trends and head-to-head records.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and Mississippi State Bulldogs open their 2021 regular season Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Louisiana Tech vs. Mississippi State odds and lines; check back for our college football picks and predictions.

Last year ended on a sour note for Louisiana Tech as it was thumped 38-3 by Georgia Southern in the New Orleans Bowl, but it was still a successful season. The Bulldogs were 0-3 SU/ATS against non-Conference USA FBS teams in 2020.

Mississippi State won just four games, but it capped off its seasons with a win in the Armed Forces Bowl over Tulsa. The “Air Raid” offense of head coach Mike Leach is still a work in progress as he gets more people in place to fit his offensive scheme.

NIT Consolation: Colorado State vs. Louisiana Tech odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Colorado State vs. Louisiana Tech odds and lines, with NIT Consoloation Game picks and predictions.

The No. 1 seed Colorado State Rams (20-7) take on the No. 4 seed Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (23-8) Sunday in the NIT Consolation Game at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on ESPN. Below, we analyze the Colorado State-Louisiana Tech odds and lines, with March Madness NCAA Tournament picks and predictions.

The Rams were no match for Memphis in the NIT semifinals and were blasted 90-67. Colorado State’s defense had been in lockdown mode in the first four postseason games while allowing an average of 64.5 points per game and the Under hit in each outing.

Memphis then blew the doors off, and that game easily cashed the Over. The Under is still 8-3 across Colorado State’s last 11 games.

The Bulldogs also didn’t put up much resistance in their NIT semifinal, falling 84-62 to Mississippi State. After allowing just 62.3 PPG in the first four postseason games, the defense struggled mightily in the loss. The Under is 13-7-2 across the past 22 games for the Bulldogs.

Colorado State vs. Louisiana Tech: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Colorado State 69, Louisiana Tech 66

Money line (ML)

COLORADO STATE (-120) is worth playing on the money line, as opposed to the spread. The Rams closed the regular season on a roll, and their only losses are to Utah State, an NCAA Tournament team, and to Memphis.

The Rams have a decent offense with 75.9 PPG, they’re a good free-throw shooting team and they play a strong brand of defense, too.

While Louisiana Tech made a nice run in the postseason, losing to eventual tournament team North Texas in the Conference USA tournament, it’s not as battle-tested as the Rams. Look for CSU to get onto NIT podium for a third-place finish.

Against the spread (ATS)

There is no real good reason to play Colorado State -1 (-110) rather than just play the money line. Essentially it’s the same bet, unless you truly have some sort of a model which suggests to you that this will be a one-point game. Even then, you would simply push. AVOID, just play the ML.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 142.5 (-110) is my favorite play on the board in this consolation game, as I really like what I have seen from Colorado State’s defense.

Add in the fact Louisiana Tech hit the Over last time out, and it hasn’t hit consecutive Overs since Dec. 15-19, and the Under looks really good.
