Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco discusses running backs room, preparing for trip to Germany

#Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco discusses running backs room, preparing for trip to Germany

The Kansas City Chiefs have enjoyed consistent rugged and productive runs from starting running back Isiah Pacheco. He has proven to be a game-changer and budding leader in his second NFL season.

Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. recently sat down with Pacheco courtesy of NFL’s official pizza partner, Little Caesars, to discuss the weekly mindset of Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Jerrick Mckinnon, and himself in the running backs room and getting ready for Germany.

“I’ll say the proper preparation of progressive poor performance. And that’s something we have in the room is five Ps.” said Pacheco, “And as a unit, we got to stand on that and persistently help one another out.”

The core values from the running backs room are also translated into the team’s preparation plans for traveling to Germany in Week 9.

“So I’m prepared to get out there to Germany. You know, it’s going to be different the time traveling, so we have a plan. And for us as players, we got to stick to it. What coach (Andy) Reid and the staff has for us.” said Pacheco, “A long trip, so, just being able to have a routine and plan when we get there and understanding what the coaches want, what’s best for us and trust in the process.”

The Chiefs will need their routines set for travel as they match up with the offensive firepower of the Miami Dolphins on November 5th.

Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco explains his push-ups during Week 4 victory over Jets

Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco explains his push-ups during Week 4 victory over the Jets

A unique quality that Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco brings to the team is his fiery play and energy. His passion is often unmatched, and his competitiveness has made him a popular rising star in the league.

Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. recently sat down with Pacheco courtesy of NFL’s official pizza partner, Little Caesars, to discuss community pizza events and his reason for pushups during the Week 4 victory over the New York Jets.

“For me. It’s been an amazing partnership,” said Pacheco about working with The Little Caesars® Love Kitchen®, a restaurant on wheels during an early season event with the Downtown Council of Kansas City’s community services center, The Beehive, and NourishKC’s Kansas City Community Kitchen, with pizza served to more than 600 people.

The tenacity to help others in the community matches Pacheco’s intensity during games. After taking a big hit, he recalled his viral moment doing pushups in the middle of a game at MetLife Stadium this season.

“I’m just making sure that the defenders are not getting the best of me on the field,” Pacheco explained. “When they’re out there tackling me, they lay on you, a little bit bigger than me. So some of the guys try to take advantage of it. And for me. It’s got to be big out there. And so, I did little pushups for the first down celebration, get the crowd going, and start showing me love.”

Pacheco finished the Week 4 homecoming in New Jersey with 20 carries for 115 yards and a touchdown.

Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco preaches preparation alongside QB Patrick Mahomes

Ed Easton Jr. chats with Kansas City #Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco about his work with Little Caesars and quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Kansas City Chiefs starting running back Isiah Pacheco continues to defy the odds after starting his career as a seventh-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He’s quickly ascended to the lead running back role and hasn’t looked back as the Chiefs attempt to win consecutive Super Bowl titles.

Pacheco and the NFL’s official pizza partner, Little Caesars, have joined forces to provide extra excitement for fans. Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. recently sat down with Pacheco to discuss his work with Little Caesars’ Pizza!Pizza!® Pregame and the importance of being prepared to play with quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

“The Little Caesars’ Pizza!Pizza!® Pregame is special because if you’re watching Sunday football, you can order pizza online,” said Pacheco, “you can win a free trip and some perks from Little Caesars. And that is amazing for me, and I can’t wait to see who wins.”

Chiefs fans who order their game-time meal win instant prizes or perks with any purchase. They will be automatically entered into a grand prize drawing for a trip to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium.

“There’s the preparation for the different opponents each week. Coach (Andy) Reid preaches to us to find the edge,” said Pacheco. “Finding that edge is so important because when you have to scout those opponents, you got to know what you’re looking for. I was a quarterback in high school. In college, it was my first year as a running back. So, I have to be prepared for the defense of the linebackers because I’m a running back, and (part of) that is protecting the quarterback, which is Pat (Patrick Mahomes).”

Pacheco is learning from the reigning league MVP on the field and with his focus on repetition.

“Oh, it’s been great, phenomenal working with him,” Pacheco explained. “He comes to work every day with the same mindset and is as superstitious as I’ve watched him be. And for me, I’m getting his (tendencies) rubbing off on me a little bit superstitious things in the way I park in the facility every day, just being consistent in the way you do things. And I see that in Pat (Mahomes) and for me as a younger guy looking up to him. To find ways to get better on that field with him.”

Pacheco and the Chiefs return to action this Sunday for another AFC West matchup with the Denver Broncos.
