Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco preaches preparation alongside QB Patrick Mahomes

Ed Easton Jr. chats with Kansas City #Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco about his work with Little Caesars and quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Kansas City Chiefs starting running back Isiah Pacheco continues to defy the odds after starting his career as a seventh-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He’s quickly ascended to the lead running back role and hasn’t looked back as the Chiefs attempt to win consecutive Super Bowl titles.

Pacheco and the NFL’s official pizza partner, Little Caesars, have joined forces to provide extra excitement for fans. Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. recently sat down with Pacheco to discuss his work with Little Caesars’ Pizza!Pizza!® Pregame and the importance of being prepared to play with quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

“The Little Caesars’ Pizza!Pizza!® Pregame is special because if you’re watching Sunday football, you can order pizza online,” said Pacheco, “you can win a free trip and some perks from Little Caesars. And that is amazing for me, and I can’t wait to see who wins.”

Chiefs fans who order their game-time meal win instant prizes or perks with any purchase. They will be automatically entered into a grand prize drawing for a trip to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium.

“There’s the preparation for the different opponents each week. Coach (Andy) Reid preaches to us to find the edge,” said Pacheco. “Finding that edge is so important because when you have to scout those opponents, you got to know what you’re looking for. I was a quarterback in high school. In college, it was my first year as a running back. So, I have to be prepared for the defense of the linebackers because I’m a running back, and (part of) that is protecting the quarterback, which is Pat (Patrick Mahomes).”

Pacheco is learning from the reigning league MVP on the field and with his focus on repetition.

“Oh, it’s been great, phenomenal working with him,” Pacheco explained. “He comes to work every day with the same mindset and is as superstitious as I’ve watched him be. And for me, I’m getting his (tendencies) rubbing off on me a little bit superstitious things in the way I park in the facility every day, just being consistent in the way you do things. And I see that in Pat (Mahomes) and for me as a younger guy looking up to him. To find ways to get better on that field with him.”

Pacheco and the Chiefs return to action this Sunday for another AFC West matchup with the Denver Broncos.
