The Atlanta Falcons re-signed long snapper Liam McCullough, the team announced on Friday

The Atlanta Falcons are bringing back long snapper Liam McCullough for another year, the team announced on Friday afternoon. McCullough, 26, signed with the team in 2022 and appeared in every game for the Falcons over the last two seasons.

McCullough is the first player to re-sign with the team this offseason and you can expect more to come now that the NFL has set the salary cap for the 2024 season at $255.4 million. Atlanta has roughly $38.4 million in cap space, according to Over the Cap’s projections.

The team has several free agents set to hit the market this offseason, including Calais Campbell, Bud Dupree, Cordarrelle Patterson and Jeff Okudah. Click here for the full list of Falcons free agents in 2024.

We have been diving into some of the more highly touted recruits in Ohio State history. We recently discussed the quarterbacks, running backswide receiverstight endsoffensive tacklesguardscenterdefensive ends, defensive tacklesinside linebackersoutside linebackerscornerbackssafeties, recruits listed as athletes, punters, and kickers.

Even though 247Sports‘ recruiting rankings only go back to 2000, there are some memorable names, but Ohio State has only picked up two big names since the start of the site. The lack of top-tier talent at long snapper isn’t all the fault of Ohio State though as highly-ranked long snappers are rare.

Falcons re-sign long snapper Liam McCullough

The #Falcons have re-signed long snapper Liam McCullough, the team announced Wednesday

The Atlanta Falcons have re-signed long snapper Liam McCullough, the team announced on Wednesday afternoon.

McCullough, 25, appeared in all 17 games for the Falcons last season. Atlanta signed the former Ohio State Buckeye after placing Beau Brinkley on the injured reserve list back in May.

Long-snapping is one of the least glamorized positions in football. Nonetheless, it’s a job that needs to be done, and McCullough got the job done well enough to keep it for another season.

In other Falcons news, quarterback Marcus Mariota will be featured in an upcoming Netflix series. “Quarterback” follows Mariota, Patrick Mahomes and Kirk Cousins as they go through the 2022 season.

Another Buckeye cashes in on NFL free agency

Another Buckeye cashes in on NFL free agency #GoBucks

It is always fun monitoring how former Ohio State football players are doing in the NFL and free agency always brings a whirlwind of news. In addition to a nice reminder of Buckeyes’ past, free agency also brings a unique insight to the bank account of elite athletes.

This week Liam McCullough signed with the Atlanta Falcons on a one-year deal after spending a portion of the 2021 season with the Las Vegas Raiders. McCullough was a four-year starter as a long snapper at Ohio State and has carved out a nice niche in the NFL since entering the league in 2020.

There sure are a lot of former Ohio State players getting paid in the league. This one may not be one of the biggest deals we’ll see, but seemingly everywhere you look in the NFL, there’s some scarlet and gray involved.

Pittsburgh Steelers sign former Ohio State long snapper Liam McCullough

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced the signing of former Ohio State long snapper Liam McCullough on Thursday.

Another former Ohio State player has signed a deal with an NFL club. Former Longsnapper Liam McCullough inked a deal on Thursday with the Steelers, just a month after he was waived by the Las Vegas Raiders on August 3.

After starting for four-years at Ohio State, this is the first year McCullough has tried to get his career going in the NFL as a rookie. It looks like he will now get a chance after Pittsburgh’s starting long-snapper was lost to injury just recently.

The Steelers have just one other Buckeye on the active roster, but it’s an All-Pro in the person of Cameron Heyward.

In order to make room for McCullough and linebacker Jayrone Elliott, Pittsburgh released linebacker Leo Lewis and waived wide receiver Anthony Johnson.

It’s now up to McCullough to impress enough to find a permanent home on the Steelers’ active roster.

Ohio State players that didn’t go in the 2020 NFL Draft

Ohio State football had ten players go in the 2020 NFL Draft, but there are still some looking for free-agent deals.

The 2020 NFL Draft is officially over, and once again it was a big success for the Ohio State football program. A total of ten players were selected throughout the seven rounds of the first-ever virtual draft.

Despite all of the players that had their names called, some that were hoping to did not. But that doesn’t mean their dreams are over. There’s still a lot of work to do after the draft with the signing of all the undrafted free agents.

So who for the Buckeyes will be hoping to field phone calls, sign a free-agent contract and get a chance to prove themselves? Here’s the complete, and remaining list that we’ll be watching over the next few days.
