Vikings release inactives for Week 9 vs. Falcons

Christian Darrisaw highlights the Vikings inactive list

The Minnesota Vikings have released their inactive list for their week nine matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.

  • LT Christian Darrisaw
  • ILB Brian Asamoah II
  • TE Nick Muse
  • RB Kene Nwangwu
  • S Lewis Cine
  • WR Jalen Nailor
  • DE Dean Lowry

The Vikings will be without Darrisaw for the second week this season. He dressed but didn’t play against the Philadelphia Eagles. Darrisaw injured his groin during practice this week.

Asamoah misses his second consecutive game with an ankle injury.

Muse continues to be inactive, as he hasn’t been active all season.

Nwangwu and Nailor are still out with their respective injuries.

Cine being inactive is a very frustrating one because of his draft capital.

The game kicks off at noon.

Vikings release inactives for Week 8 vs. Packers

The Vikings inactive list against the Green Bay Packers includes Ezra Cleveland for the second week in a row

The Minnesota Vikings have released their inactive list for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers.

  • RB Kene Nwangwu (illness)
  • LG Ezra Cleveland (foot)
  • ILB Brian Asamoah II (ankle)
  • TE Nick Muse
  • OL Hakeem Adeniji
  • CB NaJee Thompson

The Vikings announced on Saturday that Nwangwu would miss the game due to an illness. He appeared on the injury report on Friday seemingly out of nowhere. The same thing happened to D.J. Wonnum before the game against the Miami Dolphins.

Cleveland is still recovering from his foot injury and with Dalton Risner’s performance, it’s a smart move to play it safe.

Muse has only suited up for one game this season but, unlike in 2022, he has been on the active roster.

Adeniji has been inactive every game since the Vikings signed him to the active roster.

Thompson is inactive for the second-consecutive game with the Vikings prioritizing depth at other positions other than a special teams ace.

Lewis Cine is active after missing the last four game with a hamstring injury. He was removed from the injury report before the game against the Chicago Bears but the Vikings still made him an inactive the last two weeks.

The Vikings and Packers kick off at noon.

8 burning questions answered about 2023 Vikings

From Lewis Cine to drafting a quarterback, Tyler Forness answers the burning questions from Minnesota Vikings fans

The 2023 Minnesota Vikings are quite an interesting team. After having poor underlying metrics and a 13-4 season in 2022, they are 2-4 with really good underlying metrics so far this season.

Crazy how the script flipped that drastically right?

It also has the fanbase not sure what to think of the team or the direction. Should they continue to pursue a playoff spot or sell off players that have expiring contracts like they do in baseball?

With a level of uncertainty, until we see the Vikings play out the next two games, we decided to answer some of the questions that the fanbase has. These eight questions tackle a lot of the questions being debated by the fanbase and I answered them all.

Fact or myth: Exploring 7 Vikings narratives

The are many narratives surrounding the Minnesota Vikings and Tyler Forness explores whether they are a fact or a myth

The Minnesota Vikings are a team in transition right now. After moving on form longtime coach Mine Zimmer and general manager Rick Spielman, they shifted directions with the hiring of both Kevin O’Connell and Kwesi Adofo-Mensah.

The message was simple: we want to become offensive-minded and focus on premium positions.

The results so far have been mixed. The Vikings finished the season 13-4 in 2022 but have started 2-4 in 2023. The reasons behind both their success and lack-there-of have been major points of contention for the majority of the fan base.

Today, we are going to parse it all out. We looked at seven different narratives surrounding the Vikings and explored whether they are a fact or a myth.

Lewis Cine and NFL draft QBs: Purple Daily on Draft

On the latest episode of Purple Daily on Draft, the discussion centers around Lewis Cine and the 2024 NFL draft quarterback class

The Minnesota Vikings found a way to squeeze out a win against the Chicago Bears by a score of 19-13. They did so without safety Lewis Cine, who was technically a healthy scratch for the game.

Now, Cine was coming off a hamstring injury he suffered against the Los Angeles Chargers, but he was removed from the injury report on Friday after practicing in full. Did they hold him out for precautionary reasons? How concerned should we be about Cine?

The NFL draft is approaching soon and Kwesi Adofo-Mensah went to watch USC take on Notre Dame live in South Bend. What can we take away from this? Was he there to watch Caleb Williams or other prospects?

To finish the show, the guys answer questions from listeners. What other quarterbacks are intriguing for the Vikings? What about Tua Tagovailoa’s little brother at Maryland?

All of that and more on the latest episode of Purple Daily on Draft, dropping every Monday afternoon on the Purple Daily YouTube channel.

Vikings release inactives for Sunday’s Week 6 game vs Bears

The Minnesota Vikings released the inactives list for Sunday’s week six game against the Chicago Bears

The Minnesota Vikings have released their inactives for Sunday’s week six matchup with the Chicago Bears.

  • S Lewis Cine
  • OLB Andre Carter II
  • TE Nick Muse
  • OT Hakeem Adeniji
  • DL Jaquelin Roy

This is Cine’s third game inactive after suffering a hamstring injury against the Los Angeles Chargers in week three. Considering he was removed from the injury report, this would be a healthy scratch.

Carter has played in one game thus far and got three pressures in 13 pass rush reps against the Carolina Panthers.

Muse has yet to be active this season after making the roster this year.

Adeniji was signed to the active roster last week but was signed for depth purposes. Not a surprise to see him inactive.

Roy being inactive is a slight surprise. In his place is Khyiris Tonga who has for some reason been inactive for the last five games.

The Vikings and Bears kick off at noon central time.

Analyzing final Vikings injury report vs. Bears

The Vikings are relatively healthy on the active roster going into Sunday’s game

The Minnesota Vikings are facing a pivotal game in week six against their NFC North division rival Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon.

It’s a huge game for the Vikings and Bears, as they both sit at 1-4 and a loss will crater their playoff chances. Both teams had aspirations of a playoff berth but it hasn’t looked like it’s going to happen to this point.

Despite their record, the underlying metrics for the Vikings look good. They have played good football outside of their 12 turnovers and -9 turnover differential. That fact gives them a glimmer of hope for a potential playoff berth.

Going into Sunday’s game, the Vikings released their final injury report and it’s a much improved story than in previous weeks.

Vikings mistakenly leave one player off injury report

The Vikings forgot to add a name to the injury report

When the Minnesota Vikings released their injury report heading into week four on Wednesday afternoon, they left off a player. Safety Lewis Cine was mistakenly left off of the injury report after missing practice with a hamstring injury.

Things haven’t been going great so far for Cine, who has failed to play a defensive snap so far this season. He played in two snaps as a rookie before breaking his leg and missing the final 13 games of the 2023 season.

Right now, Cine is currently fifth on the depth chart with fellow second-year player Theo Jackson occupying the spot right in front of him. The hope is that he can continue to grow and develop while playing special teams and getting backup reps in practice.

3 Vikings defenders play zero snaps on defense

Things continue to look bleak for the top of the 2022 NFL draft class

The Minnesota Vikings 2022 NFL draft class is not in a great spot. Their top three defenders from that draft Lewis Cine, Andrew Booth Jr. and Brian Asamoah II all played zero snaps on Sunday.

Not overall snaps, but snaps on defense, the positions they were drafted to play. That’s not great!

It’s been a complicated road for all three. Cine broke his leg in week four of his rookie year and it set him back. He is still learning how to control his aggressive nature and the Vikings just don’t trust him on the field with how deep their safety room is.

Booth is in a similar boat. Injuries hindered his rookie season to less than 200 snaps during his rookie campaign. Like Cine, Booth’s aggressiveness gets him into trouble and he hasn’t shown that he can handle playing on the outside regularly.

Asamoah is a different case. He played well toward the end of last season but didn’t get off on the right foot this season. His absence is best explained by the emergence of Ivan Pace Jr. but that only explains so much.

Why aren’t these guys getting any playing time? Brian Flores is a very aggressive defensive coordinator and the one trait that describes all three is aggressiveness. Is it that these three just aren’t disciplined enough to be counted on? That could, along with some lack of development, explain why the top of the Vikings 2022 draft class isn’t playing much after three games.
