LeSean McCoy peels back the curtain on working with Tom Brady

“And then the playoffs, it was like the Terminator.”

It’s hard to measure the impact of Tom Brady on a locker room.

Sure, there are the stats that he’s amassed over his career. And yes, of course, there are the Super Bowl wins (7) and appearances (10). But in a way, that seems to come up short. Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back LeSean McCoy peeled back the curtain about what it’s like playing with Brady.

“Real talk, I played in Buffalo and I would play this dude every year, twice a year. I’d say, ‘When Brady leaves, the Patriots, they will not be as good.’ Everybody talks about this Belichick — and I respect Belichick, he’s a great coach — but c’mon, let’s stop that,” McCoy said on The Pat McAfee Show. “When (Brady) leaves that team, they will not be the same. The guy is different. You feed off of him. His energy.”

McCoy, who had been Brady’s opponent for so long, got an up-close look.

“The regular season, he was so serious. And then the playoffs, it was like the Terminator. He was even more serious. And then the championship week he was even more serious. Like, even the coaches have to be on their A-game because the dude demands so much respect. When he’s there, it’s like the championship habits pick up. The championship DNA picks up. And I think when you have a guy like that, you have a chance to win. And I love Belichick, but they’re not the same team without (No.) 12 over there.”

“He’s the only player that I’ve ever been around that, when he speaks, when he talks, I believe him,” McCoy said. “He could tell me, ‘Shady, go walk on that water. You won’t drown.’ I’m going to be like, ‘OK.’ He has that type of thing about him. And the way he works. When I was younger, I wish I worked as hard as he does. We just won a Super Bowl and he’s back training, doing little things.”

LeSean McCoy won his second Super Bowl ring without playing a single down in either game

Congrats, Shady!

Let me start off with this fact: I am, in no way, saying a bad thing about LeSean McCoy winning two rings (his Tampa Bay Buccaneers teammates, I’m sure, agree).

But it’s just a fun fact: “Shady” has had a terrific NFL career, and he won a ring with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019 after running for 465 yards and four touchdowns during the regular season.

Then, he signed with … the Tampa Bay Buccaneers! And he’s now a two-time Super Bowl champion, which is just amazing. What’s more amazing? He didn’t play a single down in either game.

He was inactive for Super Bowl 54 and didn’t play on Sunday (he had 10 carries all season):

What’s even better about this is what his teammate Leonard Fournette had to say about McCoy’s role this year back in January:

See? He more than earned those rings.

Super Bowl LV: Which pending free agents could interest Bills?

Free agents to watch on Chiefs and Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV for Buffalo Bills.

Everyone will be tuning into Super Bowl LV on Sunday, and that should include Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane and the team’s front office.

The Bills are still waiting to see where the 2021 salary cap will land which will influence who they try to sign in free agency this offseason… but hey, you never know, right? Might as well do a little scouting while you’re watching the game.

With that said, let’s take a look at Super Bowl participants that the Bills could have their eyes on come free agency:

LeSean McCoy has high praise for the Eagles’ Miles Sanders

During his Super Bowl media event, Buccaneers running back LeSean McCoy called Eagles star Miles Sanders the next great franchise back

LeSean McCoy is the Eagles franchise leader in rushing, and as he approaches another Super Bowl appearance, he’s raining down high praise on the guy who shattered all his rookie records.

While appearing in a zoom call with the media at Super Bowl 55, McCoy was asked about Miles Sanders and his two years at the helm carrying the ball for the Eagles.

“I think he’ll be the next franchise back… I think Miles is really, really good. He’s a lot faster than I was. When I watch him play, I think he’s a lot faster than I was, my top speed”

Sanders broke the Eagles rookie record for yards from scrimmage in 2019, passing LeSean McCoy for the most yards rushing in a season by a rookie.

Sanders also set the Eagles rookie record for rushing yards with 818 and caught 50 passes for 509 yards.

Last season, Sanders had 867 yards rushing and 6 touchdowns, along with 197 yards receiving in 12 games played.

Leonard Fournette to make his Superdome debut — with the Buccaneers

The Buccaneers reached an agreement with ex-Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette, who will play his first game in the Superdome against the Saints.

LSU Tigers product and former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette is set to open the 2020 NFL season from inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, playing against his hometown New Orleans Saints as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Fournette, a free agent, reached an agreement with the Buccaneers late Wednesday evening on a one-year contract after weighing offers from several teams.

Fournette joins a backfield also featuring second-year pro Ronald Jones, rookie draft pick Ke’Shawn Vaughn, and LeSean McCoy, the latest past-his-prime star to team up with Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski in Tampa Bay. How the running back rotation may shake out is anyone’s guess, but it’s hard to believe the Buccaneers moved so quickly to acquire Fournette only to keep him on the sidelines in Week 1.

If he does play against the Saints in the 2020 season opener, this will be Fournette’s first game in the Superdome at any level of football. He didn’t make the trip from Baton Rouge with LSU in college, and came up just short of a high school championship game in the Superdome while starring at St. Augustine in New Orleans.

Fournette played against the Saints for the first time in his NFL career last season, hosting them in Jacksonville. He was limited to 72 rushing yards on 20 attempts (3.6 yards per carry) but did catch all 6 of his targets in the passing game, gaining 46 receiving yards in a 13-6 loss.

He’ll have a shot at payback in just 10 days, but the Saints defense has shown before they’re up to the task of containing him. The challenge just may be slightly more difficult this time with Brady throwing to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. That sort of threat could be distracting.

Eagles’ Miles Sanders hoping to link-up with former Texans star RB Arian Foster

Miles Sanders has been compared to some really good running backs early on in his career and after shattering the records of one former Eagles great, the former Penn State star is hoping to get a tutorial from another comparable star.

Last season, Jason Peters compared Sanders to another former Eagles great, now signed in Tampa Bay.

“He is on that Shady level. He’s smooth,” Peters said. “He can catch, split him out, same as we did with Shady. He’s going to be a good one.”

Brandon Brooks took it a step further, comparing him to his former teammate in Houston, Arian Foster.

“Arian at his peak, there was nothing he couldn’t do: receive out of the backfield, making guys miss, taking the ball [the distance]. We ran a zone back then — one cut downhill. He reminds me of him a lot,” Brooks said.

Now Brooks is trying to help Sanders and Foster link up according to the Eagles star running back who stated that he’s hopeful the meeting will happen.

“He’s really smooth and great at that stretch game,” Sanders said of Foster.

Bruce Arians says RB Ronald Jones is ‘the main guy’

Despite signing veteran running back LeSean McCoy this week, Bucs head coach Bruce Arians said running back Ronald Jones is still the guy.

When running back Peyton Barber left the Buccaneers for the Washington Football Team in free agency, Tampa Bay knew it needed to add more depth to its backfield, which now featured 2018 second-round pick Ronald Jones as the starter.

The Bucs used a third-round pick in April’s NFL draft on Vanderbilt running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn, hoping the pass-catching back can compliment the play style of new quarterback Tom Brady. Tampa Bay also went out and signed veteran free agent LeSean McCoy this week, adding even more versatility to an already potent offense.

So, should Jones be worried about his place on the depth chart? Not according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Jones had a bounce-back season in 2019 after a miserable rookie year where he ran for just 44 yards and one score. Last season, the former USC star had 724 yards on the ground to go along with six scores. He also added 31 receptions for 309 yards.

It’ll be interesting to see how the running back situation progresses throughout the season. If Jones struggles out of the gate, don’t be surprised if Arians decides to give more touches to either McCoy or Vaughn.

Nobody better touch Tom Brady’s avocado ice cream

Rob Gronkowski’s caption contest on Instagram yielded one hilarious response involving Tom Brady’s avocado ice cream.

Bucs QB Tom Brady celebrated his 43rd birthday this week, but is hoping to play like a young gunslinger this season as he looks to guide the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back to the postseason for the first time in more than a decade.

Brady’s offseason training program and diet have been well-documented thanks to his TB12 method. And one of the biggest treats we know the quarterback likes to indulge in from time to time is avocado ice cream.

Maybe that’s why Tampa Bay tight end Rob Gronkowski couldn’t resist tagging Brady in the below photo, which was part of a caption contest he held with fans.

See what Gronk had to say as well as Brady’s response.

LeSean McCoy says he just wants to help out and contribute to the Bucs

New Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back LeSean McCoy spoke about joining the Bucs and what he envisions himself doing for the team.

LeSean McCoy will always be able to say he’s a Super Bowl champion, having been a part of the Kansas City Chiefs team that defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV.

The only problem for McCoy was that he didn’t play in that game. The running back was a healthy scratch on Super Bowl Sunday, and was also a healthy scratch for the team’s big win over the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship Game.

Now a member of the Buccaneers, McCoy seems rejuvenated, and believes this new-look Bucs team is building something special.

Take a look at McCoy’s thoughts on joining Tampa Bay below.

Gronk asks fans to caption a photo of him and LeSean McCoy and they deliver

Bucs TE Rob Gronkowski took to Instagram to solicit help from fans to caption a photo of him and LeSean McCoy.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers added another talented veteran to their roster this week by inking running back LeSean McCoy.

At 32, McCoy’s best days may be behind him, but according to him he still has gas in the tank and a desire to win.

Yesterday, the new Buccaneer hit the field with his teammates, including tight end Rob Gronkowski, who welcomed McCoy to the team by holding a caption contest on Instagram for the below picture.

And, as expected, fans came up with some hilarious responses.

Take a look.
