Lee Corso makes headgear pick for LSU-Alabama game on ESPN’s College GameDay

The GameDay panel’s prediction was unanimous.

ESPN’s College GameDay took a trip to Tuscaloosa on Saturday for LSU’s key SEC West matchup against Alabama.

As is tradition on GameDay, host Lee Corso concludes the show by picking one of the teams and donning the headgear of the respective mascot. On Saturday’s show, the panel of Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit, Pat McAfee and comedian guest picker Nate Bargatze unanimously picked the Crimson Tide, and Corso followed suit, tossing on the elephant headpiece.

LSU will hope that Corso and the GameDay panel’s prediction ultimately doesn’t come true. With a win, the Tigers would force a three-way tie in the division and have a good chance of returning to Atlanta.

LSU faces Alabama in Bryant-Denny Stadium at 6:45 p.m. CT on CBS.

ESPN ‘College GameDay’ makes pick for Ohio State at Wisconsin, other big games

Do you agree with their picks? #GoBucks

Even though Saturday night’s contest between [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] and Wisconsin isn’t a ranked matchup, [autotag]ESPN “College GameDay[/autotag]” thought enough of the game to include it as part of its selection of winners.

It was notable that [autotag]Lee Corso[/autotag] was not present, however, [autotag]Kirk Herbstreit[/autotag], [autotag]Pat McAfee[/autotag] and [autotag]Desmond Howard[/autotag] along with guest picker [autotag]Steve Smith[/autotag], the former Utah and NFL star wide receiver, were on hand in Salt Lake City, Utah, to make their picks.

Find out below who each of the analysts believe will win the game between the Buckeyes and the Badgers in prime time this evening.

ESPN College GameDay makes their Week 9 picks

Who do you have winning the biggest games of the weekend?

Although [autotag]ESPN College GameDay[/autotag] did not pick a winner between [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] and [autotag]Pittsburgh[/autotag], they still made many other picks for Week 9’s action.

The crew was missing [autotag]Lee Corso[/autotag], but [autotag]Desmond Howard[/autotag], [autotag]Kirk Herbstreit[/autotag] and [autotag]Pat McAfee[/autotag] along with guest picker [autotag]Steve Smith[/autotag], the former Utah and NFL star receiver was on hand in Salt Lake City, Utah to participate in the festivities. As always, GameDay was a fairly enjoyable watch, even if half of it was in the dark.

The four of them picked winners for the biggest games of the weekend, so find out below which teams they believe will come out victorious during today’s action.

How to watch, listen, stream No. 9 Oregon at No. 13 Utah

How to watch, listen, stream No. 9 Oregon at No. 13 Utah

The 12:30 time slot belongs to the Ducks once again, but this time, Oregon will be on Fox as they go to No. 13 Utah for a huge game Saturday.

ESPN GameDay will be in Salt Lake City, making it the second time this season they’ll be at an Oregon game. The last time was at Washington where Lee Corso picked the Huskies. It’s unusual to see the ole ball coach go against his favorite mascot The Duck and it’s hard to see Corso not pick the Ducks for the second time.

For those with the capability, the game will be broadcast in 4K as most Fox college football games are.

College GameDay staff is unanimous with Penn State-Ohio State picks

The College GameDay crew and guest celebrity picker made their picks in the big Penn State-Ohio State game.

The time for talking and analyzing pregame storylines is done. Now it’s time to go on the record with the official picks for Penn State’s road game at Ohio State. The noon kickoff was the scene for ESPN’s traveling road show, College GameDay, and the staff closed out their show by making their official predictions for the game.

And according to the official predictions, Penn State is clearly the underdog in this matchup.

Desmond Howard picked Ohio State after suggesting Penn State is not over the mental hurdle it takes to clear to beat the Buckeyes.

Pat McAfee, who picked West Virginia over Penn State back in the season opener, picked Ohio State and said Kyle McCord, Ohio State’s quarterback, is battle-tested enough for the situation. He also suggested this would put Ohio State on the path to another national championship.

Guest celebrity picker, and former Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud, understandably stuck with his Buckeye roots by picking Ohio State. We’ll give him a pass for that one.

Kirk Herbstreit, another former Buckeye, picked Ohio State.

And the legendary Lee Corso didn’t do a good job of hiding his official mascot head pick. The scarlet and gray sweater underneath his jacket was already making the rounds on social media and was visible at the GameDay desk. And Corso loves putting on the Brutus mascot head, so his picking Ohio State was not only expected but inevitable.

Over on the Fox pregame show, there was a split decision on the game. Urban Meyer and Reggie Bush each picked Ohio State but Matt Leinart and Brady Quinn each pickled Penn State.

So the picks are in. Now it’s time to settle this one on the field.

There’s other big games in the country, but you know when the pregame shows descend at the same time — Fox’s Big Nook Kickoff is also on hand — that it’s a massive matchup.

Analysts Desmond HowardPat McAfeeLee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit were joined by a familiar guest picker, former Ohio State and current Houston Texans quarterback, C.J. Stroud (who just so happens to be tearing it up in the NFL) to make their picks for this week.

Find out below what team each of ESPN analysts picked to win the cataclysmic matchup on Saturday.

Who did Lee Corso and the College GameDay crew pick for Week 7?

With Washington-Oregon set to be one of the games of the year, who did ESPN’s College GameDay crew pick for that and other Saturday games?

The ESPN College GameDay crew headed out west for Week 7 as undefeated Pac-12 titans are set to clash.

The Washington Huskies, led by one of the Heisman front-runners Michael Penix Jr., host the Oregon Ducks, one of the most complete teams in the country.

Does the GameDay crew think Penix and one of the best wide receiver rooms in recent history will be enough for the Huskies? Or will the Ducks play spoiler in front of the home crowd? What about the rest of the Week 7 games?

From guest picker Joel McHale to Lee Corso, here are the crew’s selections for Saturday.

Oregon Ducks all-time record when featured on ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’

Oregon Ducks all-time record when featured on ESPN’s College GameDay

If it feels like we were just doing this, that’s because we were.

On Sunday morning, ESPN announced that its flagship show, ‘College GameDay,’ will be headed to Salt Lake City to feature the marquee matchup between the Oregon Ducks and Utah Utes.

Just two weeks ago, ‘GameDay’ was up in Seattle to feature the top-10 showdown between Oregon and the Washington Huskies, which turned out to be one of the best games of the season.

It’s no surprise that ‘College GameDay’ is betting on the Ducks once again to provide some entertainment in one of the best matchups on the Week 9 slate.

The history between Oregon and Utah is not long, but it is certainly heated and has provided a lot of drama over the past few years. In 2021, Utah blew out the Ducks in the regular season and Pac-12 Championship game, leading to Mario Cristobal’s departure from the program. A year ago, it was Oregon who came back and got a gutty win at home over the Utes with a severely limited Bo Nix.

This game will now give us a team who is in prime position to make it to the Pac-12 title game in 2022, and potentially be in position for a spot in the College Football Playoff. It’s no surprise that this is where ‘GameDay’ wants to set up shop.

This will be the 30th time that Oregon has been featured on ‘College GameDay,’ and the 19th time it is featured while on the road. So how do the Ducks fare when ESPN comes to town for one of their games? Let’s take a look:

ESPN College GameDay picks winner of Ohio State vs. Maryland

We know you have the Buckeyes winning, but do they? #GoBucks

Although [autotag]ESPN College GameDay[/autotag] is not in Columbus, Ohio for the [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] against [autotag]Maryland[/autotag] football contest, it’s still a big game.

The show’s broadcast team traveled to Dallas, Texas, to be on hand for the Red River Rivalry, as two undefeated teams, Oklahoma and Texas, face off in their final Big 12 version of the rivalry.

Analysts [autotag]Desmond Howard[/autotag], [autotag]Pat McAfee[/autotag], [autotag]Lee Corso[/autotag] and [autotag]Kirk Herbstreit[/autotag] were joined by guest picker Baker Mayfield, former Sooner and current Tampa Bay Buccaneer quarterback to make their picks for this week.

One for their games was of course the Buckeyes and Terrapins. Find out below who each of them picked to win the game today.

Fox’s Big Noon Saturday trolled College GameDay by flying Washington State flags on set

So, the Washington State controversy is still a thing for some reason.

The ongoing Washington State drama, also known as the most pointless controversy of the college football season in some corners, took another turn Saturday morning on Fox Sports’ Big Noon Kickoff.

After Lee Corso’s misinterpreted comment sparked a misinformed comment from Wazzu coach Jake Dickert — and was sorted out like normal adults would in a misunderstanding — ESPN’s Pat McAfee and Desmond Howard tried to keep the mess going last week for some reason.

Well, now GameDay’s rival pregame show is jumping into the ring. Matt Leinart led a pro-Washington State flag-waving celebration on air this week on Big Noon Kickoff because, honestly, there just isn’t a lot going on this week besides the Red River Showdown, and you’ve got to fill the air somehow.

Seeing these grown men flying flags to troll another college football pregame show is just the “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” scene from Mary Poppins, only dumber.

Look, our current sports media landscape rewards the more salacious stuff like this as it spreads out over multiple weeks.

Everyone is always mad about everything, and now, Washington State has become the fixation of college football coverage for a controversy that apparently got resolved last month. In a few weeks, this will be forgotten because the bits will wither on the grapevine, like all stupid controversies in all sports do.

It’ll turn into something else dumb, like someone doing the horns down at an actual longhorn this week and getting chased around while McAfee does push-ups or something. Go Cougars; eat at Arby’s.
