Longhorns recruit Lance Jackson earns top ten ranking in On3’s update

Rankings are also being rewritten, which has helped some Longhorns recruits, including Lance Jackson

With the end of the high school football season drawing closer, coaches nationwide are making their final pushes for some of the country’s top prospects. Rankings are also being rewritten, which has helped some Longhorns recruits, including Lance Jackson. In On3’s updated rankings, released Monday, Jackson saw his stock rise.

The Texas native was listed as the eighth-best five-star recruit.  Due to his size and strength, Jackson has been a human highlight reel over the last few years. During his time at Pleasant Grove High School, the talented edge rusher showed good quickness.

While Jackson could outgrow his current position, he has the skills to thrive regardless of the role he is asked to play. That is something that On3 emphasized in its list.

“Ultimately, he may outgrow the EDGE position given his current size, but would be one of the more athletic defensive linemen in the class as well,” said On3 National Scout Cody Bellaire.

Although his collegiate debut is still months away, many Austin are excited about how Jackson will help improve the defense. They have been one of the better units in the nation this year and should continue to frustrate offensive coordinators next year with Jackson in the lineup.

On Monday, On3 showed why the Longhorns’ future with Jackson in the mix is bright.

Texas football edge commit Lance Jackson garners high praise

Power believes Lance Jackson is a “first off the bus” player.

How good is Texas Longhorns recruiting commit Lance Jackson? He is already garnering high praise as one of the top edge rushers in the 2025 class.

It’s rare to find an edge player as college ready, checking in at 6-foot-5 and 270 pounds. Jackson’s 34 inch arms and near 6-foot-10 wingspan will make the player difficult to block at the next level. In addition, the edge rusher should bring an added element in pass defense at the line of scrimmage batting down passes thrown his way.

The Top 100 and four-star player ranks No. 51 in the On3 consensus rankings. On3 in particular ranks Jackson as the No. 37 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class and No. 4 edge rusher in Texas. 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals rank Jackson between No. 65 and No. 82 overall.

On3 Sports director of scouting Charles Power believes he is a tone-setter.

Power shared his thoughts on Jackson on Friday.

“Texas commit Lance Jackson is definitely a “first off the bus” type. Carries 270 exceptionally well and has a large frame. One of the more physically impressive prospects.”

The Pleasant Grove player will look to make an impact at the next level.

Wisconsin offers four-star defensive lineman from Texas

The Badgers offered Lance Jackson, a four-star class of 2025 defensive lineman from Texarkana, Texas on Wednesday.

The Badgers offered Lance Jackson, a four-star class of 2025 defensive lineman from Texarkana, Texas on Wednesday. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound athlete still has two more seasons of football at Pleasant Grove High School before he’d make the jump to a college program.

Jackson has now received 16 Division 1 offers, with Wisconsin joining the Notre Dame as the second program to offer him from within the Midwest. Home state schools like Texas Tech, SMU, North Texas and UTSA have already offered him, with Texas likely soon to follow.

With Luke Fickell now at the helm as head coach and defensive coordinator Mike Tressel joining him from Cincinnati, the Badgers may be as strong of a recruit destination as ever moving forward and could have a legitimate shot at Jackson in 2025.

Sooners offer 2025 4-star prospect Lance Jackson

Oklahoma continues to send out offers to 2025 prospects with their latest going out to TE prospect Lance Jackson.

Jeff Lebby outlined his vision for Oklahoma’s offense when he signed on as offensive coordinator. He acknowledged that tight ends would have a prominent role in his scheme. He wasn’t wrong. Brayden Willis had his best year since becoming an Oklahoma Sooner en route to earning an invite to the Senior Bowl as he prepares for the 2023 NFL drafy.

With that level of production, it should make things easier for the Sooners on the recruiting trail. More specifically, it should make it easier to appeal to tight ends. Or at least Lebby hopes so.

He’s already testing that theory by offering four-star 2025 TE/DE Lance Jackson. Jackson, who hails from Texarkana, Texas, is already one of the best players in his class and will be a national name in short order.

Jackson was a Texas District 10-4A DII first-team selection at TE and DE as a sophomore. And the year before, he was a MaxPreps first-team Freshman All-American at tight end.

Early on, Arkanasas may be the team to beat as Jackson’s older brother, Landon, plays defensive end for the Razorbacks.
