Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson’s head bounced off the turf after taking a vicious hit by a Buffalo Bills defender. Though Jackson was able to get to his feet and walk into the locker room under his own power, he was quickly ruled out with a concussion. While the injury ultimately knocked Jackson out of the divisional playoff game against the Bills, it doesn’t appear to be too serious.

According to The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec and ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, Jackson has been cleared to travel. He’ll fly back to Baltimore with the rest of the team. Ravens wide receiver Willie Snead told reporters he had talked with Jackson after the game, saying Baltimore’s quarterback is “doing all right.”

It was a rough night for Jackson, who was often harassed and hit by the Bills’ defense. He finished the game completing 14-of-24 passes for 162 passing yards, no touchdowns, and a pick-six. Buffalo managed to get eight quarterback hits and three sacks on Jackson through three quarters.

Luckily, it seems as though Jackson is fine. While the night has been a disappointment, at least that silver lining is there.

Lamar Jackson in the concussion protocol after big hit in the end zone

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson took a massive hit in the end zone by the Buffalo Bills, sending him to the locker room.

This night has gone from bad to worse for the Baltimore Ravens. After another terrible snap from center Patrick Mekari, quarterback Lamar Jackson chased down the loose ball only to be hit by multiple defenders in the end zone and stayed down on the ground.

Jackson was taken to the locker room and will be replaced by undrafted free agent Tyler Huntley. The Ravens announced Jackson is in the concussion protocol.

It has not been a great night for Jackson, who has been harassed all game long by an aggressive Buffalo Bills defense. Jackson has completed 14-of-24 passes for 162 yards but threw an interception in Buffalo’s end zone that was returned for a touchdown on the previous drive.

While the Bills have been aggressively blitzing Jackson and the Ravens’ offense, Mekari’s snaps haven’t been great. Several have already been well off the mark, including two that have gotten by Jackson and rolled around on the ground.

Lamar Jackson misses 2nd practice of Week 5

Though Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson’s knee injury isn’t considered serious, missing a second practice in Week 5 is cause for some alarm

It’s not quite time to fully panic yet but there’s definitely some room for concern as Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson missed his second-consecutive practice of the week with a knee injury, according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. As the Ravens are set to play the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, there’s a very real possibility that Jackson could miss the first game of his NFL career.

Though many pundits and fans have wondered aloud about Jackson’s durability as a dual-threat quarterback who is not afraid to take off running, the reigning MVP has missed just three regular-season practices prior to this week. But with a nagging knee injury suffered at the tail end of Week 4’s game against the Washington Football Team, Jackson has missed two practices already this week, putting his status for Sunday’s game in jeopardy.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted Jackson’s knee injury isn’t considered serious and holding him out of practice is more of a precaution than anything else. However, if the injury is more serious or Baltimore decides to sit Jackson for a game as a more prolonged precaution, we’re likely to see Robert Griffin III on the field in his stead.

Friday’s final injury report will clear everything up and give us a more concrete status for Jackson. But until he takes the field, all of Baltimore is going to be collectively holding their breath.

Lamar Jackson back at Ravens practice after injury

The Baltimore Ravens got quarterback Lamar Jackson back at training camp practice after missing two days due to a “soft-tissue” injury.

While the entire football world was focused on safety Earl Thomas, the Baltimore Ravens quietly had quarterback Lamar Jackson sitting out of practice. Jackson missed two practices before returning to the field at the Under Armour Performance Center on Monday.

Initially, assistant head coach and wide receivers coach David Culley claimed Jackson was held out of practice as a normal rest day. Culley said Jackson’s “arm gets a little tired every now and then” on Saturday and the team was giving him the same rest day he normally gets. However, coach John Harbaugh gave a different story just a day later, noting Jackson was dealing with a “soft-tissue” injury. While Harbaugh wouldn’t further elaborate on any of the injuries Baltimore is currently dealing with, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said it was a groin injury.

Regardless of the type of injury, seeing Jackson back on the field and making some throws is a relief. Not only does it point to Jackson’s injury being not terribly serious, but it’s also a return to normalcy after a difficult weekend because of the Thomas situation.

Jackson is looking to win back-to-back MVP awards this season and carry the Ravens to Super Bowl LV. In such a condensed offseason, every training camp practice carries even more weight than normal. Though he missed a few practices, Jackson looked to be moving well enough in a quarterback drill.
