Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriors Game 5 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors Game 5 odds and lines, with expert NBA picks, predictions and best bets.

The Los Angeles Lakers look to finish off their best-of-7 Western Conference semifinal series against the Golden State Warriors Wednesday at Chase Center. Tip for Game 5 is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Lakers vs. Warriors odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions

The Lakers lead the series 3-1 after edging the Warriors 104-101 in Game 4 at Crypto.com Arena Monday.

The Warriors shot 46.5% (40-of-86) from the field, as opposed to 45.3% (39-of-86) for the Lakers. Golden State was also 29.3% (12-of-41) from behind the 3-point line, while L.A. was just 24% (6-of-25). However, the difference was at the free-throw line, as L.A. was an amazing 20-for-20 from the stripe while Golden State hit just 9-of-12 attempts.

Los Angeles outrebounded Golden State by a slight 42-40 margin, while the Lakers had 2 fewer turnovers (14) than the Warriors (16). G Lonnie Walker IV was the unlikely hero for the Lake Show, hitting 6-of-9 from off the bench and finishing with 15 points. F Anthony Davis posted 23 points and 15 rebounds, and he has rolled up 22.3 PPG and 14.5 RPG across 4 games in this series.

Lakers at Warriors picks and predictions

Prediction

Lakers 113, Warriors 109

Moneyline

The LAKERS (+260) are worth a roll of the dice for a chance to multiply your initial wager by more than 2 1/2 times.

A.D. has been a beast in this series and the Warriors have had very few answers for him. Golden State has that championship pedigree, and it won’t go quietly into the night, but the Lakers have just been finding a way to win in this series and have shown off their depth along the way.

Against the spread

LAKERS +7.5 (-110) catching nearly 4 buckets is a steal. With the way Los Angeles has dominated in this series, taking a 3-1 lead, it’s surprising the Lakers are underdogs by so much. Take advantage.

The Warriors won and covered in Game 2 at home, posting a 127-100 victory, but Golden State also suffered a 117-112 setback in Game 1 as a favorite.

Over/Under

UNDER 225.5 (-105) is worth a look in this elimination game.

We’ve had the Under cash in each of the past 2 games, with Golden State averaging a mere 99.0 PPG.

The Under is 5-2 in the past 7 for the Lakers in the Conference Semifinals round, while going 4-1 in the past 5 games when playing on a single day of rest. The Under is also 4-1 in the past 5 for the Warriors after a straight-up loss, and 8-3 in the past 11 after a non-cover.

Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriors Game 2 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriors Game 2 odds and lines, with expert NBA picks, predictions and best bets.

The Los Angeles Lakers continue their best-of-7 Western Conference semifinal series against the Golden State Warriors Thursday at Chase Center in San Francisco. Tip for Game 2 is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Lakers vs. Warriors odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Lakers lead the series 1-0 after picking up a 117-112 win as 4.5-point underdogs (+155 moneyline) on the road in Game 1, and the Over (227.5) barely connected.

The Lake Show was in effect in Game 1 as Los Angeles hit 46.7% (43-of-92) from the field and a sparkling 86.2% (25-of-29) from the free-throw line. The only area L.A. didn’t do well in was from behind the arc, hitting just 24.0% (6-of-25).

F Anthony Davis was on fire, going for 30 points and 23 rebounds, while also posting 5 assists with 4 blocked shots. He was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line as he became just the first player in Lakers postseason history to have at least 30 points, 20 boards, 5 assists and 4 blocked shots. He is also just the second NBA player to ever accomplish the feat, joining San Antonio Spurs Hall of Famer Tim Duncan, who did it twice. F LeBron James also added 22 points with 11 boards, giving the Lakers a pair of double-double performers.

The Warriors hit just 40.6% (43-of-106) from the floor. Golden State was a tremendous 39.6% (21-of-53) from downtown, but managed to get to the free-throw line just 6 total times, hitting 5 from the stripe. Golden State, like L.A., turned it over just 8 times.

F Kevon Looney had 10 points to go along with an amazing career-high 23 boards. Meanwhile, G Steph Curry poured in 27 points, including 6 triples, while his Splash Bro G Klay Thompson added 25 points with 4 assists and 3 rebounds, while also dropping in 6 3-pointers.

Lakers at Warriors picks and predictions

Prediction

Warriors 121, Lakers 112

Moneyline

The Warriors (-250) will cost you 2 1/2 times your potential return in Game 2. While I am more than confident they will be able to bounce back after a disappointing series-opening loss, I never play a moneyline more than -180 on any singular wager. It’s a foolish bet and not a strong long-term betting strategy.

PASS.

Against the spread

The WARRIORS -5.5 (-115) are a strong option in Game 2. Golden State shot the ball well and took care of the rock but couldn’t get to the free-throw line. I expect that disparity to be considerably closer in Game 2 and swing the scales in Golden State’s favor.

Over/Under

OVER 227.5 (-110) is worth a look in Game 2.

The Over has connected in 7 of the past 9 games on the road for the Lakers, including the Game 1 result. The Over is also 9-2 in the past 11 games for Los Angeles after a straight-up win.

For Golden State, while the Under is 5-1 in the past 6 after a straight-up loss, the Over is 4-1 in the previous 5 meetings in San Francisco against the purple and gold, including the series opener.

LA Lakers at Golden State Warriors Game 1 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s LA Lakers at Golden State Warriors odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Golden State Warriors host the LA Lakers at the Chase Center Tuesday. Tip in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals is set for 10 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Lakers vs. Warriors odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Warriors beat the Sacramento Kings in Game 7 on Sunday 120-110 and covered as a 1-point road underdog. Golden State was 3-4 against the spread (ATS) in the series and just 1-2 at home. It ended the regular season 39-41-2 ATS.

The Lakers took down the Memphis Grizzlies in 6 games as was 4-2 ATS in that series, but just 1-2 ATS on the road. It finished the season 40-41-1 ATS. LA is 5-6 ATS over its last 11 games.

Lakers at Warriors picks and predictions

Prediction

Warriors 115, Lakers 108

Moneyline

PASS.

The Warriors were among the best home teams in the NBA this season, but to win outright at (-190), they have little value.

The Lakers could be worthy of a look on the moneyline at (+155), but given I prefer the Warriors’ home strength over their potentially tired legs, I’d ultimately look to the spread for value.

Against the spread

BET WARRIORS -4.5 (-110).

Golden State, postseason included, is 28-15-1 ATS at home, and despite going 1-2 ATS against Sacramento, it still has the best home-covering record in the NBA. It has had strength in numbers and should bounce back well against a familiar foe.

The Lakers, on the other hand, were just 20-23-1 ATS on the road. The Grizzlies didn’t play overly well for much of the series and scored under 105 in 3 of the 6 games. The Warriors have a more fluid offense that will put on display some of the Lakers’ defensive issues.

The Dubs should perform well at home and keep on rolling. Take WARRIORS -4.5 (-110).

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 227.5 (-110).

The Warriors were 3-4 O/U in their 1st-round series while the Lakers were  2-4 O/U. There were only 16 playoff teams in the postseason, and the Warriors and Lakers both ranked outside the top half in effective field goal percentage after Round 1.

These teams didn’t shoot that well, and in a higher-intensity environment, expect a slower-paced game. Back the UNDER 227.5 (-110).

Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriors odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriors odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Los Angeles Lakers (25-31) and Golden State Warriors (28-27) meet Saturday at Chase Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET (ABC). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Lakers vs. Warriors odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Lakers failed to cover the spread as 8-point home underdogs Thursday in a 115-106 loss vs. the Milwaukee Bucks. G Dennis Schröder scored a team-high 25 points as Los Angeles collapsed after covering for 95% of the game. The Lakers are a league-worst 1-9 against the spread (ATS) when playing in division.

The Warriors pushed as 3-point underdogs Wednesday in a 125-122 loss at the Portland Trail Blazers. G Jordan Poole finished with a game-high 38 points for the Warriors, who have lost 3 of their last 5 games. Golden State is 16-10-1 ATS at home this season.

This is the 2nd meeting between the Lakers and Warriors this season. In the Oct. 18 meeting, Golden State covered as a 7.5-point home favorite with a 123-109 win as the Over 224.5 total points cashed.

Lakers G D’Angelo Russell is expected to play Saturday after being acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.

Lakers at Warriors picks and predictions

Prediction

Warriors 125, Lakers 115

Moneyline

PASS.

The Warriors (-200) should win, but there is no need to risk twice your potential profit on the moneyline when Golden State should win by margin. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

BET WARRIORS -5.5 (-110).

The Lakers struggled to stay competitive late in the 4th quarter Thursday with F LeBron James sitting out, and now have to face one of the best ATS home teams without the 19-time All-Star. While the addition of Russell should help the Lakers make a playoff push, it will take a few games for him to build chemistry with Los Angeles and make a meaningful impact to the spread.

The Warriors should bounce back after a close loss at Portland and take advantage of a shorthanded Lakers team that will be trying to integrate new pieces.

Over/Under

BET OVER 236.5 (-105).

The Over is 4-0 in Golden State’s last 4 games and 5-0 in Los Angeles’ last 5 vs. teams with a winning record. These teams tend to play high-scoring games against each other, with the Over hitting in each of their last 5 meetings. Saturday’s matchup should be another offensive showcase.

Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriors odds, picks & predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriors odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Los Angeles Lakers visit the defending champion Golden State Warriors in both teams’ NBA season opener Tuesday. Tip-off from Chase Center is set for 10 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Lakers vs. Warriors odds, and our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The defending champion Warriors come into this season looking to win their 5th title in 9 years, all under coach Steve Kerr. Finals MVP and future hall of fame PG Steph Curry will be leading the team again this season.

After a lot of controversy in the last few weeks regarding a viral fight between young PG Jordan Poole and seasoned veteran and leader PF Draymond Green, the Warriors are looking to put that all behind them and show why they are the defending champions.

The Lakers are coming off a very disappointing season in which they missed the playoffs and fired coach Frank Vogel, replacing him with Darvin Ham. Ham will look to make this team with the trio of SF LeBron James, PG Russell Westbrook, and PF Anthony Davis work. Many are losing hope that this trio can work, in part due to Westbrook’s struggles.

Lakers at Warriors picks and predictions

Prediction

Warriors 109, Lakers 100

Moneyline

AVOID.

The Warriors are almost fully healthy and should win this game, especially if LeBron and Davis do not play. However, the moneyline here is too risky for me to advise you to bet on it either way.

Against the spread

BET WARRIORS -6.5 (-117).

The Warriors had one of the better offenses in the NBA last year, and I don’t see that changing because they were able to mostly keep their championship team together. Look for Curry and Poole to have big games and expect SG Klay Thompson to look even better than last year after having the off-season to recover.

Expect SF Andrew Wiggins, C Kevon Looney, and Green all to contribute on both the offensive and defensive ends as well. LeBron and Davis are a formidable duo, but without many strong pieces surrounding them, I do not see the Lakers being able to make this one a close game.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 225.5 (-112).

The Under here is your best bet for me. I don’t see this Lakers team being able to put up an absurd amount of points on this tough Warriors team. The home crowd should have a profound effect on this game, especially with it being the Warriors’ first game back at home since winning the Championship last year.

Los Angeles does not have a great defense to hold the Golden State offense, but they do have some capable defenders in PG Patrick Beverly and SG Austin Reaves. The Lakers are hoping that Davis can have an MVP-caliber season to lighten the load that LeBron has to carry as he continues to age, but I see the Warriors shutting that hope down early.

Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriors odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriors odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Golden State Warriors (50-29) play their final regular-season home game of the season Thursday against the Los Angeles Lakers  (31-48). Tip-off is 10 p.m. ET at Chase Center. Below, we look at the Lakers vs. Warriors odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Lakers have lost seven straight games and have only two wins in their last 13. They have been eliminated from playoff contention after being the preseason favorite to win the Western Conference. They are 5-5 ATS in their last 10 games.

The Warriors have won two games in a row after losing seven of their previous eight. They are 2-1 against the Lakers this season. They cling to a half-game lead ove the Dallas Mavericks for third place in the Western Conference.

Lakers at Warriors odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Warriors 121, Lakers 112

Money line

PASS on the money line. The Lakers are struggling. They are an abysmal 11-28 on the road, making them a bad bet to realistically win outright.

Meanwhile, the Warriors need to win to stay in third place and are 30-10 at home. They should win, but the price makes a bet for them on the money line just not worth it. You can add a Warriors win to a parlay, but don’t bet the money line as a single bet.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

The Lakers have managed to cover the spread three times in their seven-game losing streak. However, having been eliminated from playoff contention, I don’t expect much of an effort. They are 17-22 ATS on the road this season.

The Warriors are 22-16-2 ATS at home this season and have covered the spread in their last three games.

This could get out of hand early. But the Warriors have not beaten the Lakers by double digits this season and will be without Curry. If there is a big lead and the reserves start to get playing time, there is always the chance things get interesting.

The Warriors win, but the Lakers will pull it within single digits without really threatening.

I LEAN LAKERS +12.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Warriors have cracked 110 points only once in their last four games, averaging 104.5 points in that span.

Over their last 13 games, the Lakers have allowed 123.8 points per game and at least 120 in 10 of those games.

Take OVER 221.5 (-112).

Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriors odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriors odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Los Angeles Lakers (26-30) wrap up a quick two-game road swing on Saturday when they face the Golden State Warriors (41-15). Tip-off is 8:30 p.m. ET at Chase Center. Below, we look at the Lakers vs. Warriors odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Lakers are coming off a 107-105 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers Wednesday. They have lost two games in a row and six of their last eight outings. Los Angeles is 9-17 on the road.

The Warriors are on a two-game skid of their own. They have the league’s best home record at 25-5 but lost at home 116-114 to the New York Knicks Thursday. Golden State had won nine in a row before the two losses and it beat Los Angeles 121-114 on the road in their first meeting this season.

Lakers at Warriors odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Warriors 124, Lakers 110

Money line

PASS on the money line.

The Lakers have struggled too much lately, and on the road this season, to really think they would make a smart pick tonight. Plus, they are struggling with their health. The matchup against Davis will be a challenge for the Warriors, but the Warriors have more mismatches.

While Golden State has lost two in a row it hasn’t lost consecutive home games this season. However, the -300 price tag is just not worth the risk.

Against the spread

The Lakers are 24-32 ATS overall this season and are 12-14 ATS on the road. Los Angeles lost to Golden State on opening night by 7 points.

The Warriors are 29-23-4 ATS overall and 17-11-2 ATS at home.

I’m banking on a bounceback game from the Warriors after their loss to the Knicks and the banged-up Lakers will be the victims.

Take the WARRIORS -6.5 (-115).

Over/Under

The first matchup between the two teams had a total of 235 points.

Four of the Warriors’ last six games have had 230 points or more and they have scored 120 points or more in five of their last eight games.

The Lakers have scored 110 points or more in five of their last seven games.

Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriors odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriors NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Los Angeles Lakers (25-13) visit the Golden State Warriors (20-19) Monday at Chase Center for a 10:30 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Lakers-Warriors odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Warriors gave PG Stephen Curry a nice birthday present Sunday by upsetting the Utah Jazz 131-119 at home. Curry dropped 32 points on 50.0% shooting (6-for-9 from 3-point range) with 9 assists.

Golden State’s win over Utah snapped a four-game losing skid. All games were on the road against Pacific Division opponents, including a 117-91 loss to the Lakers Feb. 28.

Los Angeles bounced back from back-to-back losses entering the All-Star break to beat the Indiana Pacers 105-100 Friday. The Lakers covered the spread as 4.5-point home favorites. Following a four-game losing skid in late February, the Lakers are 3-2 straight up and 4-1 against the spread in their past five games.

These teams split their first two meetings of the season, both in Los Angeles.

Lakers at Warriors: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Warriors 112, Lakers 107

Money line (ML)

PASS with a lean on Warriors (+115) since I like Golden State plus the points. There’s just not enough value in this money line to bet it.

Against the spread (ATS)

Lean on WARRIORS +2.5 (-110) for a half-unit because the Lakers are just 3-6 straight up in their last nine games and are banged up while Golden State has no news on its injury report.

Also, James scored only 19 points per game in the first two Warriors-Lakers meetings this season and he’ll have more defensive responsibility in this one since L.A. is without two frontcourt starters.

It’s only a lean because the Warriors will go into significant offensive lulls for stretches of games due to being too reliant on Curry’s production.

Over/Under (O/U)

Each team is better on the defensive end of the floor with L.A. the top-ranked defensive-rated team and Golden State ranking seventh.

The Warriors are well-equipped to deal with LeBron with three above-average wings in Kelly Oubre Jr.Andrew Wiggins and defensive Swiss Army Knife Draymond Green.

Finally, the teams are a combined 31-46 O/U this season, the Lakers are 1-6 O/U in their last seven games as favorites and the Warriors are 1-4 O/U in their last five as home underdogs.

The UNDER 223.5 (-110) for 1 unit is the best play in Lakers-Warriors.
