Ohio State makes final three for 2024 California linebacker

The Buckeyes will get the final shot at impressing the linebacker #GoBucks

As [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] was watching where its players were going to be selected during the NFL draft, a very important recruiting target dropped the list of his final three schools.

California 2024 linebacker [autotag]Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa[/autotag] will consider Notre Dame, USC, and the Buckeyes as he hits the home stretch of his recruitment.

Next on tap for the eighth-rated linebacker and 103rd overall player are his official visits. Viliamu-Asa has set the dates with each school. Ohio State is getting the final visit in late June.

The timing of the visit is what head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] likes to see: The Buckeyes get the final crack at impressing the top linebacker.

The 2024 Buckeye recruiting class has one true linebacker, Payton Pierce, though Garrett Stover could play the position as well.

Notre Dame makes top three for 2024 California linebacker

The Irish will have one more chance to impress the top linebacker

Although it might have been gotten a bit lost in the draft hoopla last night, California linebacker [autotag]Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa[/autotag] released his final three schools with [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] as one of them.

The St. John Bosco star also included USC and Ohio State as teams he is still considering playing for. Viliamu-Asa has great size for the position at 6-foot, 3-inches and 230 pounds.

He’s rated among the best in the country, 8th at linebacker and 103rd overall according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Reading into his recruitment, Viliamu-Asa currently has a scheduled official visit to all three schools, with the Irish sandwiched between visits in the middle of June. He was in South Bend during the Blue and Gold game, his second visit.

The timing of his return visit to South Bend isn’t ideal, but it won’t matter if head coach [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] and his staff hit a home run on the visit.

Alabama offers 2024 prospect, St. John Bosco LB Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa

Alabama’s coaching staff has recently offered recruits on the West coast. 2024 linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa is the latest.

Alabama’s coaching staff has recruited the West coast over the years fairly well. Several players that the Tide have landed from that particular area in years past is Bryce Young, Blake Barnett, and Tommy Brown.

Alabama recently extended an offer to 2024 linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa. Viliamu-Asa plays for one of the country’s most prestigious high school programs, St. John Bosco.

It is interesting to think that former Alabama linebacker Henry To’oTo’o is also from the same general area. However, he spent his high school career at De Le Salle.

At this time, USC is the favorite to land his commitment at 49.1% likelihood, according to On3’s RPM. Alabama will likely try to get Viliamu-Asa on campus in the coming months. That will be something to monitor.

Sooners offer trio of top-100 2024 defensive prospects from California

While the Sooners finalize their ’22 recruiting class, they’ve ventured out west to offer 3 top-100 players from St. John Bosco in California.

The Oklahoma Sooners are putting the finishing touches on their 2022 recruiting class. And while they look to close out the cycle with a bang, the Sooners are looking ahead to 2023 and 2024 as well. They got a commitment from the top quarterback in the state of Texas on Monday in Jackson Arnold.

Brent Venables and his coaching staff have been on the road looking to open up new recruiting grounds in Texas and California.

On Tuesday, Venables and his staff were in California visiting St. John Bosco and they made several offers while they were there.

The Sooners offered safety Peyton Woodyard, cornerback Marcelles Williams, and linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa. Each player is considered a four-star defender early in the 2024 cycle by 247Sports for St. John Bosco.

Woodyard is currently the No. 20 player in the 2024 class and the No. 2 safety prospect. Williams is considered the No. 70 player and No. 8 cornerback in the class. Viliamu-Asa is ranked No. 10 in the country, is the No. 2 linebacker in the country, and is 247Sports No. 1 player in the state of California.

Each of these prospects is a top 100 player in the class and ranks within the top 10 in the state of California.

Brent Venables’ presence with the Oklahoma Sooners has given them inroads into Florida recruiting from his time at Clemson. He’s also been successful in recruiting in Texas in his short time in Norman. Now he’s making his way out west to keep Oklahoma’s footprint in the state of California strong as well.

With his defensive chops and the eventual move to the SEC, Venables has a strong hand to play as he ventures into Pac-12 country.
