Raiders bring back DT Kyle Peko, waive QB Chase Garbers, CB Isiah Brown

Back for another training camp with the Raiders is Kyle Peko. The veteran defensive tackle spent last offseason with the Raiders before landing on the team’s practice squad. He was then signed to the active roster late in the season.

All told he appeared in eight games last season for the Raiders, collecting 11 combined tackles.

The 30-year-old enters his sixth NFL season after having previously spent time with the Broncos, Bills, and Titans. He has appeared in 28 career games with three starts.

With the return of Peko the team also announced the cuts of quarterback Chase Garbers and cornerback Isiah Brown.

Raiders swap out defensive tackles

The Raiders swapped out a couple interior defensive linemen Tuesday. They released Kendal Vickers and replaced him with Kyle Peko off their practice squad.

Vickers had missed the past three games with a back injury. In his absence, the team has elevated Peko from the practice squad.

They must have liked what they have seen from Peko and opted to make it official.

Vickers was in his third season with the Raiders, appearing in 25 games with two starts.

The journeyman Peko was signed this offseason as a free agent and didn’t make the team out of camp. He was signed to the practice squad and has seen action in three games this season with three combined tackles (one solo).

The lineman shuffle continues in Las Vegas. The day after the Raiders traded away Johnathan Hankins to the Cowboys for a late draft pick, they brought back veteran DT Kyle Peko to the practice squad.

Peko had been signed this offseason as a free agent and lost the battle for a roster spot out of training camp to Hankins, Andrew Billings, and the team’s two rookie DT draft picks.

Taking Hankins’s spot on the roster is tackle Jackson Barton who the team called up from the practice squad for depth on the offensive line.

Last Sunday the team lost right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor to injury after 14 snaps, with Thayer Munford filling in admirably. Barton offers some insurance should Eluemunor not be healthy enough to play this week at New Orleans.

Replacing Barton on the practice squad is T Sebastian Gutierrez.

In addition the team released CB Javelin Guidry from the practice squad and brought back CB Bryce Cosby.

It’s game week for the Raiders. The first regular season game week of the season. Just ahead of their first practice for the season opener against the Chargers, the Raiders added the final player to bring their practice squad to 16 players.

That 16th player is Kyle Peko who had been signed this offseason and spent all of camp and preseason with the team.

The seven-year veteran has appeared in 21 career games with the Broncos, Bills, and Titans.

With six defensive tackles on the Raiders’ active roster, Peko becomes the only interior defensive lineman on the practice squad.

Peko’s return means the only defensive tackle who spent time with the Raiders this offseason who is no long with the team is Tyler Lancaster who today was released from injured reserve with an injury settlement.

Addtionally, 14 of the 16 players on the practice squad were those among the final 22 cuts, which means very few players who were in Raiders camp are not still around and one step away from the game day roster.

Analyzing Titans’ snap counts from Week 18 win over Texans

After Rashaan Evans logged just three snaps in Week 18, it appears there has been another changing of the guard at ILB for the Titans.

The Tennessee Titans were close to as healthy as they’ve been all season long in the Week 18 game against the Houston Texans, but they still had some key players to replace.

Along with running back Derrick Henry, who wasn’t activated off Injured Reserve, the Titans were also without defensive linemen Teair Tart and Naquan Jones, both of whom were ruled out on Friday.

There was also a big question in regard to how the Titans would divvy up the snaps at inside linebacker with everyone healthy. Well, we got our answer for that question on Sunday.

Let’s analyze the Titans’ Week 18 snap counts and see how they went about filling the aforementioned avoids, and we’ll talk about what appears to be another changing of the guard at inside linebacker, the second this season.

Plus, we’ll go over any other significant takeaways from Sunday’s win that clinched the No. 1 seed for Tennessee.

Titans’ top PFF grades and stats from Week 17 victory vs. Dolphins

Four Titans offensive linemen earned a pass-blocking grade of 80 or better in Week 17.

Following the Tennessee Titans’ crucial Week 17 victory over the Miami Dolphins, which helped the team secure its second-straight AFC South title, we’re taking a look at the top Pro Football Focus grades on offense and defense.

Earning the top overall grade on both sides of the ball was running back D’Onta Foreman with an 82.7 after he had yet another stellar game with 26 carries for 132 yards and a touchdown.

On defense, defensive lineman Kyle Peko had the highest overall grade with a 78.3. Peko had one sack and two total tackles in just 16 snaps.

The most impressive part of the Titans’ Week 17 PFF grades comes from the offensive line, which was excellent against the Dolphins, a team that entered the game with the most sacks in the NFL. In fact, a total of four starters upfront notched a pass protection grade above an 80.

Titans sign Kyle Peko to active roster among four moves

Peko earned one of the highest grades on defense in the Titans’ Week 10 win over the Saints.

The Tennessee Titans made four moves ahead of practice on Wednesday, one of which included signing defensive lineman Kyle Peko to the active roster.

Peko, who was previously on the Titans’ practice squad, played 23 snaps in the team’s Week 10 win against the New Orleans Saints. He registered the second-best overall Pro Football Focus grade on defense, and the best run defense mark.

In addition to that move, the Titans are bringing back offensive lineman Bobby Hart and defensive lineman Amani Bledsoe on the practice squad. Both players were waived from the active roster on Monday.

Finally, the Titans have designated tight end Tommy Hudson to return from Injured Reserve. A 2020 undrafted free agent signing of the Titans, Hudson has played in three games this season but hasn’t suited up since Week 4.

The Titans will return to practice on Wednesday in preparation for their Week 11 matchup against the Houston Texans at Nissan Stadium on Sunday.

Tennessee Titans place DL Kyle Peko on Injured Reserve

The Titans have been very busy making roster moves on Thursday.

The Tennessee Titans have lost one of their competitors for a depth spot along the defensive line after placing veteran defensive lineman Kyle Peko on Injured Reserve, the team announced on Thursday afternoon.

Since Peko was placed on IR before making the 53-man roster, his 2021 campaign is officially over.

With Peko on the shelf, players at the position on the roster bubble, like Naquan Jones, Woodrow Hamilton, and Freedom Akinmoladun, will all have a better chance to make the cut. Jones has long been our choice of this group.

The only locks the Titans have upfront are Jeffery Simmons, Denico Autry, Teair Tart and Larrell Murchison. Simmons, Autry and Tart figure to be the starters, with Murchison factoring in as a rotational piece.

The Titans were quite busy making moves on Thursday, as the team signed three players, placed three on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, and activated one from the NFI list. Those moves can all be viewed below.

Joel Heath reinstated to Broncos’ roster, placed on Reserve/Opt-Out list

The Broncos added Joel Heath back to their roster and then placed him on the Reserve/Opt-Out list.

The deadline for NFL players to opt out of the 2020 season because of the COVID-19 pandemic passed nearly three weeks ago. Before that deadline, the Broncos cut defensive lineman Joel Heath.

Under special conditions, some cut players can be retroactively added to the opt-out list, according to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com. If a player receives a high-risk diagnosis or has a family member die or get hospitalized with COVID-19, that player can opt out after the deadline.

One of those conditions must have applied to Heath because he was reinstated to Denver’s roster and then placed on the Reserve/Opt-Out list, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Former Broncos cornerback Shakial Taylor, recently cut by the Giants, was also added to the list.

Heath was signed by Denver in March and cut four months later.

The Broncos now have three players on the opt-out list: right tackle Ja’Wuan James, nose tackle Kyle Peko and Heath. The league had 69 total opt outs this offseason.

2 Broncos players opt out of 2020 NFL season

The NFL’s opt-out list has been finalized and the Broncos have two players on the list.

The NFL’s deadline for opting out of the 2020 season has passed and the Denver Broncos have two names on the 66-player list.

Defensive lineman Kyle Peko and right tackle Ja’Wuan James have decided not to play during the COVID-19 pandemic. Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller seriously considered opting out but has committed to play instead.

“The opt-out option is a player’s choice and a player’s right, and we’ll respect that if a player decides to do that,” Broncos president/CEO Joe Ellis said on July 28. “That’s absolutely, 100 percent their right, inherently. I’ve got no objection to that at all and would be supportive of that, if that’s what somebody wants to do.”

Peko was a longshot to make Denver’s 53-man roster. James was expected to start at right tackle. For now, Elijah Wilkinson is projected to start in James’ place. The Broncos might consider signing a free agent tackle or trading for an experienced option to replace James.

Denver currently has one player on the Reserve/COVID-19 list: tight end/fullback Andrew Beck. Beck has not opted out of the season — he will be eligible to return to the active roster once healthy.
