Tennessee (21-5, 11-2 SEC) defeated Wake Forest on Saturday, 4-1, at Barksdale Stadium in the second-round of the NCAA Tournament Knoxville Regional.

Tennessee advances to the Sweet 16 for the tenth time in program history and will play Texas A&M at 3 p.m. EDT in College Station, Texas on May 12.

“These guys have worked so hard,” Tennessee head coach Alison Ojeda said. “Not just this team, but so many teams that came before them. We’ve been able to recruit off of the success of other teams. I want to make sure every single Lady Vol knows they’ve been a huge part of us getting to this place.

“A couple of years ago, we almost did. We almost hosted, but didn’t quite get it, then we earned to host and took advantage of it. Now, all of the sudden, we have an opportunity to go to the Sweet 16 and keep going.”

The match took place in the first-round of the NCAA Tournament Knoxville Regional.

“Today, honestly, it was more about just staying with it,” Tennessee head coach Alison Ojeda said following the first-round. “We don’t need to play better than how we’re playing. We just have to keep sticking with it and make sure that they’re (SEMO) the ones that feel like they have to elevate their level. Let’s just stay solid. That was the message everywhere.”

The Lady Vols advance to play Wake Forest on Saturday in the Knoxville Regional championship matches.

Wake Forest defeated Arizona State, 4-3.

Tennessee and Wake Forest will play on Saturday at 4 p.m. EDT. The winner will advance to a NCAA Tournament super regional.

“The University of Tennessee is all about winning, and our entire athletic department’s goal is to simply be among the few who are competing for championships,” Tennessee head coach Alison Ojeda said prior to playing Southeast Missouri State.

No. 1 Tennessee (56-7) defeated Georgia Tech, 9-6, Sunday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in the NCAA Tournament Knoxville Regional.

The Vols have advanced to play Notre Dame in the NCAA Tournament Super Regional.

Notre Dame defeated Texas Tech in the Statesboro Regional while Tennessee was playing Georgia Tech.

Following the Vols’ win, head coach Tony Vitello was asked if he knew Tennessee is slated to play Notre Dame.

“I’m going to go humble brag here,” Vitello said. “I’m just going to throw it out there. The only reason I know we’re playing Notre Dame was from one text message, and that was from Peyton Manning, so thank you for sending it.

“I’m not going to say thank you for letting us know who we’re playing. You’d like to just enjoy the moment for a minute, and thank you for allowing me to brag to people.”

Four Vols named to the Knoxville Regional All-Tournament team.

No. 1 Tennessee (56-7) defeated Georgia Tech, 9-6, Sunday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in the NCAA Tournament Knoxville Regional.

The Vols advanced to Super Regional play with the win against Georgia Tech.

Tennessee will host Notre Dame at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in the NCAA Tournament Super Regional. The winner will advance to the College World Series.

Notre Dame advanced to Super Regional play with a 2-1 win against Texas Tech in the Statesboro Regional final.

Following Tennessee’s win against Georgia Tech, the Knoxville Regional All-Tournament team was announced.
