ACC women’s basketball leaders as of March 3

Guess who leads for Notre Dame.

Well, we finally have reached March. The spotlight will shine bright on every team from here on out. But nowhere where the spotlight shine brighter than on the players most expected to lead their teams. That includes the ACC’s major statistical leaders, and you can find those players below:

One Notre Dame representative is here.

The ACC is in its final few weeks before its tournament. If any team lying in the weeds is going to make a move, now is the time to get moving. Otherwise, they might as well just sit back and let the teams that deserve it more grab the best positions. Speaking of the best, here are the best statistical players in the conference:

Guess who represents Notre Dame here.

We’re getting into the first full week of February now. It doesn’t seem like we already should be at this stage of the season, but we are. It’s another reminder for ACC teams that haven’t made their moves yet that the clock continues to tick. If they don’t, they’ll be put in their place by players like these conference statistical leaders:

Notre Dame never leads in loss to Louisville

The top three teams in the ACC entered Thursday with identical 12-0 home records.

The top three teams in the ACC entered Thursday with identical 12-0 home records. That included Louisville, which Notre Dame visited. For much of the contest, the Irish showed they could at least compete with the Cardinals. But they never possessed the lead in a 73-66 loss.

The Irish (17-5, 7-4) always seemed to be right on the edge of tying the game or even taking the lead. But every time they got an opportunity, the basketball wouldn’t fall through, not even when they had good looks. It seemed only a matter of time before the Cardinals (20-4, 9-2) pounced, and pounce they did.

The Irish trailed by three midway though the third quarter when the Cardinals decided enough was enough. They scored seven unanswered points to go up 10, and the Irish couldn’t get closer than five the rest of the way despite their best efforts. The deficit eventually grew to 13 in the fourth quarter, and while the Irish held the Cardinals without a point for the final four-and-a-half minutes, the deficit was too much to overcome.

Nyla Harris scored 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the field and completed the double-double with 10 rebounds. Sydney Taylor scored 13, and Kiki Jefferson, the ACC’s leading free-throw shooter, earned half of her 12 points by making all six shots from the charity stripe.

[autotag]Hannah Hidalgo[/autotag] was the only Irish player to reach double figures, but she scored 30 points, 22 of which came in the second half. She now has 551 points for the season, and in this game, she broke [autotag]Shari Matvey[/autotag]’s program freshman scoring record of 530, set during the 1979-80 season.

Hidalgo’s accomplishments in this game didn’t stop with scoring though. She was credited with seven steals, and the 113 she now has for the season represent the ACC freshman record. Appropriately, one steal led to the fast-break layup that gave Hidalgo the scoring record.

The good news for the Irish is that this was the loss that probably will cause the least amount of damage for their NCAA Tournament seeding. Plus, they’ll see the Cardinals again in South Bend to close the regular season. Still, this would have been a nice win to put on their resume, which is mostly thin right now. Hopefully, that changes soon.

Guess which leader represents Notre Dame.

Guess who represents Notre Dame on this list.

We have reached the point in the season where the calendar flips to another month. The contenders and pretenders slowly are starting to distinguish themselves from each other. February will separate the pack even further. Until that happens, here are the major statistical leaders in the ACC:

One Notre Dame player continues to tear up the conference.

The college basketball regular season might be half over but not the ACC season. No, we’re still getting warmed up, and the conference action continues to heat up with each passing game. The next couple of months promise to live up to the conference’s billing as one of the best in the country. You won’t want to miss it.

Here are the players to watch as of this moment:

Who is still in the transfer portal that might make sense for the Iowa Hawkeyes?

Fresh off a trip to the national title game, Iowa wants to retool. Here’s several transfer portal targets the Hawkeyes should consider.

What an offseason this has been for women’s college basketball.

After one of the greatest tournaments in history, the race is on for these teams to reach even bigger heights in 2023-24. A number of top players hit the portal this offseason, looking more like the football version of the transfer portal.

From established stars Hailey Van Lith and Aneesah Morrow to talented youngsters waiting for a breakout such as Lauren Betts, there’s something for everyone in the portal!

Unfortunately for the Hawkeyes, they haven’t brought in anyone yet even though some of the portal’s top players have made their way to greener pastures.

Just like one of the worst snubs in American Idol history Chris Daughtry said in his hit song “It’s Not Over,” it is definitely not over yet for the Hawkeyes. There are many talented players still looking for a new home to ply their trade. Plenty of potential Hawkeyes out there!

As we get ready to leave the month of April, here is an updated look at the crazy women’s college basketball transfer portal.
