Texas A&M guard Endyia Rogers declares for 2024 WNBA Draft, which is Monday night on ESPN

“We did things that people did not expect us to. Y’all had faith and belief in me like no other. Y’all are on the way to something special.”

After playing her final collegiate season in Aggieland, Texas A&M guard Endyia Rogers is taking her talents to the next level.

Rogers formally declared Wednesday for the 2024 WNBA Draft, which is Monday night.

“These past five years have been nothing short of amazing,” Rogers stated via X. “I appreciate everyone who came along this journey with me. It wasn’t always easy, but we found a way. I want to thank all my coaches from USC and Oregon for giving me the opportunity to play for their amazing programs.

“To my teammates and coaches at Texas A&M, I am super grateful that I was able to spend my last year of college basketball with you all and experience what it is like to be an Aggie. We did things that people did not expect us to do. Y’all had faith and belief in me like no other. I am thankful for the everlasting memories that I made with you all. I know that we did not finish the season the way that we wanted, but y’all are on the way to something special. Thank you all for everything, I am forever appreciative. As always, Gig’Em!

“To my family and friends, there is no me without you. It has been a journey since I was 4 years old. Y’all made every bit of the journey worth it. I appreciate the everlasting support and the sacrifices made throughout my basketball career. It takes a village. I love each and every one of you guys dearly.

Rogers spent her underclassman years at the University of Southern California. Then she became an Oregon Duck for the next two before playing her final season at Reed Arena.

The 29th annual WNBA Draft is Monday at 6:30 p.m. CST on ESPN.

After a bye week, A&M will welcome the No. 1 team in the nation to Reed Arena for their fifth SEC game of the season. The Aggies have played solid defense all season long and will need to find a way to slow down the South Carolina Gamecocks, who boast the number-one offense in the land.

This will undoubtedly be the toughest game of the season for the Aggies, with Dawn Staley bringing a South Carolina team that’s been out to prove a point after not making it to the NCAA Championship game last season. Head Coach Joni Taylor knows she must slow down and limit the mistakes against the No. 1 Gamecocks if they want a chance at a victory.

“…we’ve got to force them into a half-court game as much as possible. They are excellent in transition, and we’ve got to

limit those opportunities number one by getting back and getting a defense set and also by not turning the ball over or having turnovers that lead to live ball easy transition points.”

The Aggie defense went into lockdown mode early in the game, only allowing 22 points in the first half of the game and a 36.7% from the field. Coach Joni Taylor’s active offseason is paying dividends early, as A&M has already matched their SEC win total four games into league play.

Transfers Aicha “AC” Coulibaly, Endyia Rogers, and Lauren Ware were just what the doctor ordered by smothering defense and adding some much-needed experience to the court. Coulibaly and Rogers combined for 34 points and 9 rebounds on the offensive side, then also recorded five steals.

Coach Taylor’s mantra this year has been toughness and a staple of that is playing great defense. She wants that to be her team identity because she knows where that can take them.

The Texas A&M Aggies (14-3, 2-2 SEC) recorded their second SEC win of the season, beating the Tennessee Lady Vols (10-6, 3-1 SEC) at Reed Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Just a few games into the league play, the Aggies have already matched their SEC win total from last year. Coach Joni Taylor has done a great job bringing in the type of players she needed to bring toughness to this team. A&M looked very good on the defensive end, giving Tennessee their first SEC loss, and appeared to be working towards a certain level of consistency Coach Taylor has been preaching about.

“We’re four games in, so I think we’ve got to find some consistency and do the things we’re supposed to do. I also think we’ve shown what we’re capable of. And so, that’s the quest that we are on. The Texas A&M Aggies (14-3, 2-2 SEC) recorded their second SEC win of the season, beating the Tennessee Lady Vols (10-6, 3-1 SEC) at Reed Arena on Sunday afternoon.

A&M did what they do best and put on a strong defensive stand, holding the Lady Vols to under 40% shooting (36.7%) and eight points in the second quarter. They also dominated the paint, outscoring Tennessee 44 to 24 en route to a 71-56 win at home.

Another welcome addition was to see senior Sahara Jones take a big jump this game after a rough start to league play. Before the Tennessee game, she was 5-20 in the first three games of SEC play. Against the Lady Vols, she went 7-9 for 15 points, and if she can keep it up will be a great option off the bench. Starting guard Aicha Coulibaly gave her praise on Jones’ performance.

“I’m just so proud of her. We knew that she was capable of playing like this, it’s just the mentality, you know. She came in today and played great. I knew she had the potential and I feel like today she just came out and did what she needed to do. She’s very athletic and she knows where to get rebounds. She’s very active and they couldn’t stop her today and I’m just proud of her. I don’t know what else to say. That was amazing to see. I need her to come out and play like that every night.”

The Texas A&M Aggies (13-2, 1-1 SEC) notched their first SEC win of the season with a convincing 66-44 win over the Auburn Tigers (11-4, 0-2 SEC) at Reed Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Head Basketball Coach Joni Taylor let it be known after the loss to Georgia that her team did not meet her standard of toughness. That’s something she has been preaching all season long and her team got the message.

They handled business at home and not only notched their first SEC win of the season but crossed a major milestone of recording the program’s 300th win at Reed Arena. Coach Taylor was pleased with how her team responded knowing how talented a team Auburn can be.

“We gave up too many points in the first quarter on Thursday. With that being said, when you hold a team to 54 points, you should be able to win it. But I thought our defense was exceptional, especially our perimeter. Johnnie (Harris) has a really good team and she’s got a talented group of guards. And so, when you watch them on film, you sit up straight because if you’re not locked in, they can kind of have their way. I think our perimeter players were really sound defensively and forced them into really tough contested shots.”

A&M came out strong against the Auburn Tigers in their first home SEC game this season and they took Coach Joni Taylor’s challenge to heart. The Aggie played tough defense all night long and dominated the paint to the tune of 40 points and 43 rebounds. They were led by former Auburn Tiger Aicha Coulibaly and Janiah Barker who sat down to speak after the game.

“It was kind of emotional. I played with that team for two years and you know, I just had to do what I needed to do no matter what. We’re friends off the court, but on the court it’s game time.” – Aicha Coulibaly

“Something Joni talked about at the beginning of the season was that we’re not a team that’s going to have one person score 20 or 30 each game. There’s a lot of people on the team that can score. We contributed in the best way to that because we didn’t rush on offense, and nothing was forced. Aicha Coulibaly leads the Aggies to their first SEC win of the season over Auburn

The Texas A&M Aggies (13-2, 1-1 SEC) notched their first SEC win of the season with a convincing 66-44 win over the Auburn Tigers (11-4, 0-2 SEC) at Reed Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Coach Joni Taylor was much happier with her team’s effort in their second game of conference play as they put together a more complete game than their loss to Georgia a few days ago. Their toughness was on full display against the Tigers, with over half their points coming in the paint and they held them to under 10 points in two quarters.

Aicha “AC” Coulibaly led the Aggies in scoring against her former team and, with the help of a double-double from Janiah Barker, recorded the program’s 300th win at Reed Arena. A win over the Bulldogs in their SEC opener would have been ideal; crossing this milestone at home while winning their first SEC win this season was a nice consolation prize.

They are looking to move on from their first loss since November 16th, when they dropped their SEC opener 54-50 to Coach Joni Taylor’s former team, the Georgia Bulldogs. It was a wake-up call and they realized turnovers in conference play will not be as easy to come back against.
