Auburn was unable to keep the three-star safety home.

SEC recruiting rankings: June update

The 2024 recruiting cycle has been kind to the Auburn Tigers thus far. How are they doing compared to the rest of the SEC?

The month of June has been a busy one in the world of recruiting, especially for the Auburn Tigers.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and staff have welcomed a myriad of popular recruits to visit campus, and have been fortunate enough to earn three commitments at this point in the month.

The month started with the Tigers earning two commitments on the same day. Auburn beat out Ole Miss in the pursuit of three-star wide receiver [autotag]Bryce Cain[/autotag] on June 13. Later that day, four-star safety [autotag]Kensley Faustin[/autotag] announced that he would also be committing to Auburn.

The third commitment of the month was the most notable. [autotag]Joseph Phillips[/autotag], a four-star linebacker from nearby Tuskegee, chose Auburn over Georgia. Phillips is now Auburn’s second-highest-ranked commit for the 2024 cycle, and his commitment is declared a monster win for Freeze on the recruiting trail.

In other refreshing news, three 2024 commits announced that they would be “shutting down” their recruitment. Joining four-star quarterback [autotag]Walker White[/autotag] by doing this trend are tight end [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag], running back [autotag]J’Marion Burnette[/autotag], and defensive back [autotag]A’Mon Lane[/autotag].

As the month of June begins its final lap, here’s a look at how Auburn stacks up in recruiting with the rest of the SEC according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

In-state safety Rydarrius Morgan puts Auburn in top 6

Auburn is in the mix for the talented safety from Central-Phenix City.

[autotag]Rydarrius Morgan[/autotag] is one of Auburn’s top in-state targets and the Central-Phenix City has taken the next step in his recruitment. The three-star safety announced a top six of Auburn, Alabama, Miami, Mississippi State, FSU and Cincinnati on Twitter Wednesday night.

Morgan has taken multiple visits to Auburn since they offered him a scholarship on April 13 and was supposed to take an official visit before he was forced to postpone it.

The 6-foot, 175-pounder has also taken official visits to Florida State (June 2) and Cincinnati (June 9) and is set to take one to Miami this weekend.

He is the No. 558 overall player and No. 56 safety in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 27 player from Alabama.

Auburn secondary coaches [autotag]Wesley McGriff[/autotag] and [autotag]Zac Etheridge[/autotag] are leading the charge for the Tigers as they look to add to their impressive secondary haul. They have already landed commitments from four-star cornerbacks [autotag]A’Mon Lane[/autotag] and [autotag]Jayden Lewis[/autotag] and four-star safety [autotag]Kensley Faustin[/autotag].

Morgan has not set a commitment date but has expressed interest in committing during the beginning of his senior season.

Twitter reacts to Auburn landing Bryce Cain and Kensley Faustin

Auburn fans had plenty to say after the Tigers landed two commitments in one night.

It had been nearly two months since [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and Auburn landed a commitment, but that changed Tuesday night.

The Tigers snagged not one, but two commits. Wide receiver [autotag]Bryce Cain[/autotag] and safety [autotag]Kensley Faustin[/autotag] both pledged to Auburn.

Cain, from Baker, Alabama, is a speedy wide receiver who thrives in the slot and can generate big plays. The 5-foot-11, 170-pounder is Auburn’s first commitment at wide receiver.

Faustin, a four-star prospect, is capable of playing anywhere in the secondary and can help in both coverage and run support. He joins cornerbacks A’Mon Lane and Jayden Lewis in what is rapidly becoming a loaded secondary class for Auburn.

The two commitments fired up the Auburn fan base, which took to Twitter to celebrate. Here are the top reactions:

Tuesday two-step: Auburn football earns two quality commitments

Four star CB Kensley Faustin and three star WR Bryce Cain each announced their pledges to Auburn on Tuesday evening.

Recruiting has been a hot topic around Auburn University since the calendar turned to June. [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and staff have made their pitches to many of the nation’s most talented recruits for the 2024 cycle in hopes they will commit to Auburn.

On Tuesday, Freeze locked in two more commitments to the 2024 cycle. Four-star safety [autotag]Kensley Faustin[/autotag] and three-star wide receiver [autotag]Bryce Cain[/autotag] both visited Auburn recently and quickly announced their commitment to the program.

Cain became the first commitment of the day, announcing his pledge just after 5 p.m. CT. Cain was a heavy lean to Ole Miss before visiting Auburn last weekend, but the campus tour was enough to separate Auburn from Lane Kiffin and the Rebels.

The Mobile native says that Auburn feels “like home.”

“The coaches can develop and I feel like they can take me to the next level. I love it here,” Cain tells Auburn Undercover.  It just feels like home. It feels like the best place for me. I can fit in with everybody. It’s great, I love it.”

Faustin announced his commitment shortly after Cain revealed his decision. Faustin, like Cain, took his official visit to Auburn last weekend. While there, Auburn coaches shared how they would like to fit Faustin into their scheme, which was appealing to the Naples, Florida native.

“They see me fitting in at whatever position is going to get me on the field early,” Faustin said in an interview with Auburn Undercover. “They see me as a safety, star, nickel, whatever’s going to get me on the field. They see me as very versatile, and that’s what they like about me.”

Here’s a look at what both Faustin and Cain bring to the table:

LSU offers 4-star 2024 safety from Naples, Florida

LSU’s coaching staff took a trip to Florida to check out one of the best safety prospects in the 2024 class.

LSU’s coaching staff took a trip to Naples, Florida, to check out one of the best safety prospects in the 2024 class.

[autotag]Kensley Faustin[/autotag] is a five-foot-eleven, 170-pound, four-star safety from the 2024 recruiting class. He is from Naples, Florida, where he plays for Naples high school.

The Naples Golden Eagles finished the 2022 season 9-3 with a loss to Dunbar in the third round of the 3S playoffs.

There are no Crystal Ball projections per 247Sports and no clear favorite to land Faustin per On3.

Film Analysis: Faustin has incredible ball skills and is able to make a lot of plays in the passing game from his safety position.
