Seahawks Week 13 injury report: 2 players QUESTIONABLE

Seahawks Week 13 injury report: 2 players QUESTIONABLE

The Seattle Seahawks are gearing up for their second-straight Thursday Night Football showdown. This time, it will be against the Dallas Cowboys.

Like last week, the Seahawks did not have an actual practice on Wednesday afternoon. They had a walk-through, and as such, the practice report is an estimation of what a full practice would have looked like.

The full injury report can be seen below:

Week 12 inactives: Frank Clark and 5 others ruled out

The Seattle Seahawks are gearing up for their first Thanksgiving game at Lumen Field. They will be hosting the reigning NFC West champs – and current division leading – San Francisco 49ers for a crucial showdown.

Seattle will be doing so without the services of defensive end Frank Clark, who was made a healthy scratch. Additionally, running back Kenneth Walker III is also inactive, but no surprise there.

The good news is quarterback Geno Smith appears healthy enough to play. We’ll quickly find out how well he has recovered from Sunday’s loss to the Rams.

The Seattle Seahawks have completed their final walk-through of the week before their Thanksgiving showdown with the San Francisco 49ers. The Seahawks had another walk-through, and once again, the injury report is merely an estimation of what it would look like had Seattle fully practiced.

One thing to note: although right tackle Abe Lucas is listed as questionable, head coach Pete Carroll has confirmed he will not play.

The Seattle Seahawks have are hurdling towards their Thanksgiving showdown against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football. The health of the team – specifically for quarterback Geno Smith – is the focus of the week for Seattle.

The Seahawks had another walk-through, similar to Monday. As such, the injury report is merely an estimation of what a full practice would have yielded. Fortunately, Smith was upgraded from a theoretical “did not participate” to a “limited.”

Seahawks fall on the road to the Rams, lose 17-16

Seahawks fall on the road to the Rams, lose 17-16

One year after having a rare sweep of the Los Angeles Rams, things have fallen back to order as the Seattle Seahawks were swept themselves. Seattle lost their rematch to the Rams, falling to them 17-16. The Seahawks have now dropped to 6-4 on the year with a Thanksgiving showdown against the San Francisco 49ers looming large in a few days.

The afternoon started flawlessly for Seattle, who scored on an opening 15-play, 88-yard drive to take an early 7-0 lead. The Seahawks’ defense held strong at their own two-yard line, stopping LA on fourth down. Seattle was able to extend their lead to 13-0, but the Rams scored right before half to give an identical 13-7 halftime score as it was in Week 1.

Unfortunately for the Seahawks, the second half in this one played out similarly when it came to their offensive prowess. Seattle started the game 4/4 on third down, but then were an astonishing 1-for-11 for the remainder of the afternoon. The Seahawks barely avoided another second half shutout, but only managed a lone field goal.

Of course, losing quarterback Geno Smith certainly affected things in a negative way. Smith was injured near the conclusion of the third quarter after taking a big hit from – you guessed it – Aaron Donald. Backup Drew Lock came in, and was unspectacular in relief action. Lock finished the day completing 2-of-6 passes for three yards and an interception.

Smith was able to gut it out and returned for the final drive of the game, trailing 17-16. It was an admirable effort, driving Seattle 38 yards to set up a potential game winning field goal. Instead, Jason Myers’ hot streak came to an end as his 55-yard attempt missed wide right, sealing the loss.

Once again, Sean McVay and the Rams prove they outright own the Seahawks. No matter the year, no matter the circumstances, as long as Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp and Aaron Donald are in the lineup they always find a way to prevail against Seattle.

It should be noted, however, officiating was highly suspect – and that’s the most polite way I could put it. Los Angeles’ second touchdown was directly aided by a defensive pass interference penalty as the Rams receiver was clearly falling down.

The Seahawks now find themselves in dire straits. The health of Geno Smith, and running back Kenneth Walker III (who left with an early oblique injury) will be under the microscope during the short week before Thursday Night Football. The course of Seattle’s season could very well depend on it.

Awful Announcing documents criticism of Jason Garrett

What did you think of Garrett’s season-opening broadcast?

As the Week 0 game with the highest profile, Notre Dame-Navy drew a large audience hungry for college football. That meant extended exposure for fill-in play-by-play announcer Noah Eagle and color commentator Jason Garrett on NBC.

Garrett and regular play-by-play announcer Jac Collinsworth, who missed Saturday’s broadcast, both have become frequent targets for Irish fans for the quality of their announcing. Without Collinsworth, Garrett received the brunt of criticism for the season opener, and sports media website Awful Announcing kept track of some of the tweets containing that criticism.

One series of tweets Awful Announcing chose to focus on were those saying Sam Hartman hasn’t worked with a running back like Audric Estime when the Seattle Seahawks’ Kenneth Walker III had played with Hartman at Wake Forest. Awful Announcing also highlighted tweets criticizing Garrett’s repeated mentions of the Midshipmen’s “mental toughness.” Still other tweets didn’t like what was perceived as Garrett’s lack of enthusiasm or energy.

We’ve had only one NBC broadcast in 2023, but social media already is in midseason form. There’s no place for critiques of Garrett to go but up. Who knows what’s in store for Collinsworth when he presumably returns for the Irish’s home opener this coming weekend?

Studs and Duds for the Seahawks from their blowout loss to Ravens

Studs and Duds in Seahawks 37-3 blowout loss to Ravens

The Seattle Seahawks suffered a historic loss on Sunday. They tied a 41-7 blowout defeat to the New York Giants in 2010 as the second worst loss in the Pete Carroll era. Their 37-3 humbling by the Baltimore Ravens is second only to a shocking 42-7 smackdown by the Los Angeles Rams in 2017.

To say things went south fast for the Seahawks is the understatement of the weekend. For a failure of this magnitude, everyone on the team has to wear some of the blame, and it’s hard to find positives when there’s a 34-point loss on the books.

There will be a few Studs listed out of fairness to what they accomplished in the game, but the reality is there isn’t many great things to say about what happened in the Charm City.

5 takeaways from Seattle’s humiliating 37-3 loss to Baltimore

5 takeaways from Seattle’s humiliating 37-3 loss to Baltimore

Sunday’s 37-3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens is almost as bad as it could have been for the Seattle Seahawks. No, that isn’t hyperbole, as this 34-point defeat ties a 41-7 beatdown in 2010 as the second worst defeat(s) Seattle has suffered in the Pete Carroll era.

When a team has a calamitous failure like this, it’s hard to narrow the reasons why to any one aspect, but a few certainly stand out more than others. In this week’s takeaways list, there’s plenty to mention. Unfortunately, there won’t be a ton of positive notes for me to choose from.

Simply put, the Seahawks were soundly humiliated. I could leave it there, and many might prefer it left that way. But for a little more digging, here are the biggest takeaways from Sunday’s disasterclass.

NFL player props: 5 best bets for Week 8

NFL handicapper John Holler looks at the NFL Week 8 slate and tabs the 5 best NFL player props to cash in on.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

Whether it’s because of competing with the World Series this weekend or just coincidence, the NFL has all 32 teams playing — taking a 1-week break from bye weeks. That won’t be repeated until Week 15 when the bye weeks are over.

Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NFL odds and lines, and tab the best NFL Week 8 player prop bets to cash in on among SportsbookWire’s NFL expert picks and predictions.

This week our picks include a hot quarterback not reaching an Over/Under number he has blown past more times than not, a pair of running backs showing why they’re the centerpieces of their respective offenses, an unheralded wide receiver continuing the roll he’s been on since mid-September and a big-name receiver burning one of the best pass defenses in the league for a touchdown.

Jaguars WR Christian Kirk OVER 54.5 receiving yards (-120)

– At Steelers, 1 p.m. (CBS)

The Steelers are allowing 260 passing yards a game and most of those yards are to wide receivers.

Kirk was overshadowed by teammate Calvin Ridley when he arrived in the offseason, but Kirk has maintained his role as the No. 1 wide receiver in the Jaguars’ offense.

Kirk has topped this number in 3 of the last 4 games and will get every opportunity to get 8 or more targets, which should be more than enough to hit the Over.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins UNDER 252.5 passing yards (-115)

– At Packers, 1 p.m. (FOX)

In Minnesota’s first 2 wins, Cousins threw for less than 200 yards. The Vikings chose to have a balanced offense against the Panthers and Bears because they were never far behind and could keep mixing in the run to control game tempo and shorten the game.

In 6 games, the Packers have scored just 26 first-half points, giving their opponents the opportunity to get an early lead and control the momentum.

Cousins has blown past 300 yards in 4 games this season, but this one should be more of a ground-based game plan that will keep him short. Plus the number has swelled up 2 yards Saturday.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase SCORES A TOUCHDOWN (+120)

– At 49ers, 4:25 p.m. (CBS)

The 49ers have only allowed 7 touchdown passes in 7 games, but the Bengals are going to need to throw to win, and that means a lot of Chase.

The Bengals have been digging out of a hole after a 1-3 start and are starting to get their footing with Joe Burrow getting healthier and the anticipated return of Tee Higgins to limit constant double-teams of Chase.

The 49ers aren’t the best team to expect a big day from, but one of the 49ers’ few weaknesses is the ability to get beat over the top by opponents willing to take the risk.

Seattle Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker OVER 66.5 rushing yards (-120)

– Host Browns, 4:05 p.m. (FOX)

The Browns have a strong run defense, but they’re facing a Seattle team that doesn’t abandon the run even when it falls behind.

Walker has topped this number in 3 of the last 4 games (and came with 4.5 yards in the one he didn’t) because of the consistent run volume he gets. In his last 5 games, Walker’s rushing attempt totals have been 17, 18, 17, 19 and 26.

The Browns won’t be pushovers, but if Walker has what has become an average week – 17 carries or more – it will be very difficult for Cleveland to hold him under this number.

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler OVER 31.5 receiving yards (-120)

– Host Bears, 8:20 p.m. (NBC)

The Chargers have been struggling to win games, and when that happens, teams often revert to what has made them successful in the past. In the case of the Chargers, that is making Ekeler a 2-way threat as a runner and receiver.

Having missed 3 games this season, Ekeler hasn’t been able to get in a groove quite yet, but a primetime game against one of the worst teams in the league is a way to get healthy in a hurry.

Getting Ekeler in space in the pass game should be a priority for quarterback Justin Herbert, and 5 receptions should be about the baseline given the shorthanded nature at the top of the Chargers’ receiving corps. All it will take is one splash play and he tops this number.
