Kyle Fuller might be a little biased, but he’s picking Chiefs to win Super Bowl LIV

The Bears aren’t playing in the Super Bowl, but CB Kyle Fuller still has a rooting interest, given his brother Kendall plays for the Chiefs.

The Bears aren’t playing in the Super Bowl, but cornerback Kyle Fuller still has a rooting interest. That’s what happens when your brother is playing on football’s biggest stage.

So when wondering who Fuller is picking to win Super Bowl LIV, it’s a no-brainer: The Chiefs.

“I think they’re pretty balanced, offense and defensive-wise, even special teams — I think they’re definitely a threat for sure with Patrick Mahomes and their receivers,” Fuller told ESPN. “I’m also a little bit biased. My brother [Kendall Fuller] is playing on their defense so … but yeah, I’m gonna go with Kansas City.”

The Bears learned firsthand how balanced the Chiefs are, as they played each other in Week 16. Kansas City won that game 26-3.

Super Bowl LIV, which pits the Chiefs against the 49ers, kicks off Sunday at 5:30 p.m. CT on FOX.

PFF suggests unexpected free-agent target for Bengals

A new idea should intrigue Bengals fans.

The Cincinnati Bengals might end up being a little more active than usual in NFL free agency now that it’s clear the carryover roster Zac Taylor inherited needs a little more help than anticipated.

That in mind, besides the draft storylines, it’s always a good time to look ahead to the market’s opening.

Pro Football Focus’ Anthony Treash did just that by suggesting the Bengals go after an unexpected name — Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Kendall Fuller.

The reasoning:

The Bengals are in rebuild mode and will be getting their franchise quarterback first overall this April. Positions of need are everywhere for Cincinnati, so after quarterback, cornerback is the next one to target. Kendall Fuller hasn’t been the same player for the Chiefs as he was in 2017 with Washington, but we have seen a level of play from Fuller that could make him a breakout player in 2020. In his second career season in 2017, Fuller’s 91.2 coverage grade tied for the second highest in the NFL, as he rarely gave up an explosive play. His 2018 wasn’t nearly as good, surrendering over 500 yards more in coverage but still ranking 38th of 120 qualifying cornerbacks in PFF coverage grade. This year, Fuller was out for a handful of weeks and has played more at safety in the latter part of the year. He’ll have a low asking price, and a fresh start for Fuller in Cincinnati back in the slot could be a win for both sides.

Interesting right?

The Bengals indeed have a few tough questions to answer this offseason. Darqueze Dennard is a free agent and Dre Kirkpatrick is on a big-money deal.

If Dennard wants to play on the boundary or somewhere else and the Bengals don’t want to just throw Darius Phillips out there with no quality depth behind him, Fuller indeed might be a target to consider.

At this point, Fuller is a former third-round pick who is only going on 25 years old and could come cheaper than expected after some struggles in Kansas City, but also offers hints of upside.

If nothing else, he’s someone to keep in mind.

2020 NFL Free Agency: 7 CB’s for the Eagles to consider

2020 NFL Free Agency: 7 CB’s for the Eagles to consider

The Eagles are set for a gigantic retool this offseason and they’ll likely start on the outside, where they need drastic upgrades at wide receiver and cornerback.

Philadelphia can address the receiver position via one of the deepest drafts in NFL history, but cornerback is not as deep a position in the 2020 NFL Draft and Howie Roseman could use free agency as a hunting ground.

Roseman and company may already have their eyes on two talented targets at the position.

According to Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network, the Eagles are interested in both Denver Broncos corner Chris Harris and Byron Jones of the Dallas Cowboys.

The word here in Mobile is that the Philadelphia Eagles will go hard after a cornerback in free agency. Chris Harris and Byron Jones are two of the names being thrown around, but I expect the Eagles to turn over every rock in free agency in an attempt to fill the position.

The report isn’t a major surprise and with Ronald Darby and Jalen Mills both likely to move on in free agency, the Eagles are expected to revamp the cornerback position and those two names will likely be the cream of the crop for cornerbacks.

With the Eagles needing to make changes and both Jones and Harris not being locks to end up here, we’ve provided 7 potential free agent targets at the position.

****

1. Byron Jones

Jones, is only 27 and entering his prime. He would provide a huge upgrade at cornerback for the Eagles while weakening their rival Dallas Cowboys. Jones is a shutdown cornerback regardless of numbers and would provide Jim Schwartz with the player that can allow the Eagles defense to pressure opposing quarterbacks. Jones isn’t an interception machine, but he doesn’t give up the big play and his physical enough to cover wideouts and tight ends.

6 pending free agents Bears should keep eye on in Sunday’s divisional playoffs

With all eyes turned to the divisional playoffs, here are 6 pending free agents the Bears should keep an eye on Sunday.

The Chicago Bears haven’t played in the NFL divisional playoffs since 2011, which hurts more than usual given the lofty expectations surrounding the team before the season.

Free agency is just about two months away, and the Bears have plenty of decisions to make both in-house and on the open market. With multiple areas of need, free agency and the NFL Draft will be important for general manager Ryan Pace.

With all eyes turned to the divisional playoffs, here are 6 pending free agents the Bears should keep an eye on Sunday:

CB Bashaud Breeland

Cornerback is certainly a position of need for the Bears this offseason, which they’ll look to address either in free agency or the NFL Draft. Given the Bears can save $8 million in salary cap space if they cut veteran cornerback Prince Amukamara, he’s likely to be a cap casualty.

One option the Bears could turn to in free agency is Chiefs cornerback Bashaud Breeland, who had 48 total tackles, two interceptions and eight pass breakups in 2019. If Breeland, a talented player at an important position, hits the open market, the Bears would surely be interested — for the right price.

Inactives for Chiefs vs. Chargers, Week 11

These players will be inactive for the Kansas City Chiefs Week 11 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Kansas City Chiefs have released their inactive list for their Week 11 Monday night matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Here are the inactive players for the Chiefs:

– DE Alex Okafor
– CB Kendall Fuller
– RB Darwin Thompson
– TE Blake Bell
– QB Chad Henne
– OL Jackson Barton
– OL Nick Allegretti

Here is the Chargers inactive list:

– OL Russel Okung
– WR Geremy Davis
– RB Justin Jackson
– OL Sam Tevi
– QB Easton Stick
– LB Drue Tranquill
– DL T.Y. McGill Jr.

The Chiefs will have all five starting offensive linemen in this game for the first time since Week 1. Eric Fisher is returning from a groin injury that has kept him out of action for the last eight weeks and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif returns from an ankle injury he suffered in Week 8.

Okafor is still dealing with an ankle injury and will miss this game, but could have a shot to return in two weeks after the bye. Fuller did participate in practice this week but was downgraded to a limited participant on Friday and will miss this game. He also has a shot to return after the bye week.

As for the Chargers, they will be without starting left tackle Russel Okung. This leaves them with just one starter along their offensive line and four backups. Look for Chiefs’ defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo to bring a lot of pressure on quarterback Philip Rivers tonight.
