Texas LT Kelvin Banks named 2022 Freshman All-American by On3 Sports

Kelvin Banks earns freshman All-American honors.

Texas left tackle Kelvin Banks enjoyed one of the best freshman seasons across the entire nation. The crown jewel of the Longhorns’ 2022 offensive line class is establishing himself as a star.

On3 Sports named Banks to its 2022 True Freshman All-American team for his effort this year.

Banks arrived on Texas’ campus in the summer and immediately locked down the left side of the Longhorns’ offensive line. He held his own against some of the nation’s best pass rushers all season long, only allowing two sacks in 12 games.

Notable names Banks performed well against include Will Anderson (Alabama), Dallas Turner (Alabama), Tyree Wilson (Texas Tech), Felix Anudike-Uzomah (Kansas State) and Will McDonald IV (Iowa State).

The future of the Texas offensive line looks to be in great shape with Banks anchoring down the left tackle spot.

Texas lands commitment from five-star offensive lineman Devon Campbell

ON FIRE! Texas adds another five-star to its offensive line class in Devon Campbell.

Texas won a huge Red River recruiting battle on Wednesday as they landed five-star offensive lineman Devon Campbell over rival Oklahoma.

The Arlington Bowie product was one of the top uncommitted prospects heading into national signing day on Feb. 2.

Campbell is rated the No. 3 prospect in the state of Texas and the No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the country, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

He becomes the highest-rated commit in Texas’ 2022 recruiting class.

Campbell joins offensive lineman Kelvin Banks as the sole five-star prospects in the class. If they both hold true to their commitment, it will be the first time in program history for Texas to sign two five-star offensive linemen in the same cycle.

Recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks from 247Sports had promising things to say about Campbell in his scouting report:

Average height with good length and a stout build that is virtually college-ready. Good athlete on the field relative to size; shows in pulling ability and second-level blocking. Heavy-handed and flashes devastating punch power at times in those second-level opportunities. Impressive open-field athleticism when lead-blocking beyond the line of scrimmage. Terrorizes second-level defenders and looks for extra work.

With the addition of Campbell, Texas signed one of the best offensive line classes in program history. A fantastic job by Kyle Flood.

Social media reacts to five-star OT Kelvin Banks committing to Texas

Five-star OT Kelvin Banks sent shockwaves across the college football world when he announced his commitment to Texas.

The Longhorns should send Mario Cristobal and Miami some flowers, as thanks to them Texas was able to gain a commitment from one of the top offensive lineman in the nation.

Days after decommitting from Oregon due to Cristobal accepting the head coaching job at Miami, five-star offensive lineman Kelvin Banks announced his commitment to the University of Texas. He is expected to sign with the Longhorns on Wednesday, and becomes the highest rated commit in Texas’ 2022 recruiting class.

Landing Banks is massive win for the Longhorns, who were in dire need of a revamped offensive line as that was weakest position group on the field at all times for Texas. His pledge to the Longhorns could also sway other blue chip prospects to follow him to Austin.

Even with the announcement coming just minutes ago, Twitter is already in a frenzy with the news. Here are some of the best reactions following Banks’ decision to continue his playing career on the Forty Acres.
