2025 4-star WR and Texas A&M commit will visit the Aggies after visiting Texas

2025 4-star WR and Texas A&M commit Kelshaun Johnson will visit College Station next weekend after visitng Texas

Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class is inching closer to signing another highly talented cycle filled with future starters at nearly every position. One of the rising wide receiver prospects is 4-star Kelshaun Johnson, who chose the Aggies over the Texas Longhorns earlier this year.

While a commitment is nice, it’s somewhat meaningless until every prospect puts pen to paper during the early or national signing period, as the month of October is usually when a bulk of longtime commits end up flipping to other programs, as Texas A&M has felt the pain late flips after former 2025 5-star WR Cam Coleman chose Auburn after Jimbo Fisher’s dismissal.

Head coach Mike Elko knows that Kelshaun Johnson’s speed and route running skillset have quickly made him one of the top offensive prospects without a 5-star designation.

After it was revealed that Johnson would visit Texas during the Longhorns’ matchup with Georgia on Saturday, Rivals insider Landyn Rosow revealed that the senior receiver will head back to College Station next weekend for Texas A&M’s Week 9 home matchup with LSU.

According to Rivals, Johnson is currently positioned as the 174th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 32nd-ranked wide receiver prospect, and the 24th-ranked prospect in Texas.

Texas A&M will face Mississippi State on the road on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 3:15 p.m. CT. The game will air on the SEC Network.

One of Texas A&M’s 2025 commits will watch the Aggies play next weekend

2025 4-star WR and Texas A&M commit Kelshaun Johnson will watch Texas A&M take on Arkansas next weekend

Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class is filled with talent at every position, led by 5-star quarterback Husan Longstreet and 4-star defensive lineman DJ Sanders. Still, one name has continued to make headlines during his final year of high school football.

Needing to add more speed and downfield explosiveness to the wide receiver room, 4-star WR Kelshaun Johnson committed to the Aggies over the Texas Longhorns earlier this year and has continued to look like one of the top overall athletes in the cycle. While the Longhorns are certainly trying to flip him, Johnson is still firmly committed to the Aggies.

After scoring a late touchdown to take the lead in Hitchcock’s recent game, Johnson revealed that he will attend Texas A&M’s Week 5 matchup vs. Arkansas at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, which will be his first game this season.

With the Aggie offense finally looking better after defeating Florida 33-20 last Saturday, Johnson can visualize his place in the future lineup, possibly with quarterback Marcel Reed, who could start his second game of the season against Bowling Green on Saturday night.

According to 247Sports, Johnson is currently positioned as the 196th-ranked prospect, the 20th-ranked wide receiver prospect, and the 27th-ranked prospect in Texas.

Texas A&M will host Bowling Green on Saturday, Sept. 21. The game will be available to stream on ESPN+ and SEC Network+.

2025 4-star WR Kelshaun Johnson has committed to Texas A&M

2025 4-star WR Kelshaun Johnson has committed to Texas A&M!

Boom! Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class has added its 19th commitment in the cycle, as 4-star wide receiver Kelshaun Johnson, who had to delay his announcement the last two weeks due to Hurricane Beryl, has finally committed to Texas A&M over rival Texas on Tuesday afternoon.

Set to enter his senior season at Hitchcock HS, Johnson’s gravitation to the Aggies was a slow roll, but with new A&M offensive coordinator Collin Klein’s system coming into play, which relies on speed and precise route running, committing to a program clearly on the rise under head coach Mike Elko’s leadership was too good to pass up.

After losing out on 4-star wide receiver Taz Williams to Baylor, Elko and his staff knew that landing Johnson would be crucial to achieving their future offensive goals.

Standing at 5-11 and 160 pounds, Johnson possesses impressive speed and route running skills with the ability to play on the outside or in the slot while serving as a kick/punt returner early in his college career.

According to 247Sports, Johnson is currently positioned as the 192nd-ranked prospect in the 2025 class, the 20th-ranked wide receiver, and the 27th-ranked prospect in Texas.

As Texas continues to deal with the repercussions of Hurricane Beryl, plans are again being changed, including the commitment date for one of the top wide receivers in the 2025 recruiting class, which was last set for Wednesday afternoon.

According to OrangeBloods writer Jason Suchomel, Johnson will once again push back his commitment date to sometime next week, as power issues in Hitchcock, Texas, are still a problem. We all send our thoughts to Johnson and his family, and everyone is still affected.

Recently, speaking with On3’s Chad Simmons, Johnson was intrigued by both the Longhorns and Aggies’ future offenses. At the same time, Texas A&M remains the overwhelming favorite, according to several 247Sports recruiting analysts, and Texas is clearly in play. Johnson explained that both in-state programs are the finalists:

“They are great schools. I like the coaches at Texas and Texas A&M, both have good offense.”

With new offensive coordinator Collin Klein taking over play-calling duties this coming season, recruits, including Johnson, have been provided a clear vision of how they’ll fit in the Aggies offense.

According to 247Sports, Johnson is currently positioned as the 192nd-ranked prospect in the 2025 class, the 20th-ranked wide receiver, and the 27th-ranked prospect in Texas.

2025 4-star WR Kelshaun Johnson is set to announce his commitment next Monday

Texas A&M’s 2024 college football season is less than two months away. Mike Elko’s inaugural campaign will begin inside a packed Kyle Field in prime time against Notre Dame on Saturday, August 31.

On Sunday, A&M’s 2025 cycle secured its third prospect out of California. Four-star linebacker Noah Mikhail chose the Aggies over Oregon and USC, becoming the second LB commit in the class while bringing elite instincts and athleticism to the future roster.

With 2025 four-star Edge Marco Jones set to commit on Tuesday, it has now been revealed that 2025 four-star wide receiver Kelshaun Johnson will announce his commitment on Monday, July 8, as the Hitchcock (TX) native is a favorite to land with Aggies have his official visit to College Station back on June 6.

Texas A&M is still predicted to land rising 2025 4-star WR out of Hitchcock (TX)

Texas A&M is now predicted to land one of the top wide receiver prospects in the 2025 recruiting class

Texas A&M’s recruiting success under head coach Mike Elko isn’t surprising to most, but for those who felt that he couldn’t emulate the success that Jimbo Fisher sustained through his tenure, we’re all wrong sometimes!

Following the successful conclusion of the talented 2024 recruiting class, the 2025 cycle has been steadily expanding since the arrival of the former Duke head coach in November. Elko has secured 14 commitments, including the recent addition of four-star tight end Kiotti Armstrong last Friday night.

After hosting a long list of 2025 prospects back-to-back weekends, Elko and his staff have yet to land a wide receiver. However, after hosting four-star WR Kelshaun Johnson out of Hitchcock (TX), the former Texas Longhorns favorite has received two predictions to land with Texas A&M as of this week.

Back in April, Texas A&M WR coach Holmon Wiggins visited Johnson while also setting up his official visit. The Aggies’ coaching staff has continued to make the rising prospect a priority heading into his final senior season.

According to 247Sports, Johnson is currently ranked 192nd among prospects in the 2025 class, 8th among wide receiver prospects, and 27th among prospects in Texas.
