Recently offered LSU cornerback target decommits from Georgia

The Tigers offered Kayin Lee on Wednesday, and he backed off his pledge to Georgia on Tuesday.

Kayin Lee, a four-star cornerback and a top-50 recruit in the nation, announced his decommitment from Georgia on Tuesday. The 5-foot-11-inch, 175-pound junior from Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Georgia,  received an offer from new Tigers coach Brian Kelly on Feb. 16.

As a junior at Cedar Grove, Lee picked off seven passes, two of which came in the Georgia AAA state title game. He also earned MaxPreps Junior All-American second-team honors.

In his sophomore season, Lee earned Region 5-AAA Defensive Player of the Year, after totaling 27 tackles and three interceptions in eight games, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

He’s the No. 144 player in the country and No. 17 cornerback, per the 247Sports composite.

Lee had been pledged to Georgia since September shortly after taking an unofficial visit to Athens. His decommitment came just six days after receiving an offer from the Tigers, which seems to indicate they will have a chance to land him. He has also received recent offers from Nebraska and Texas.

As Brian Kelly tries to build LSU back into a powerhouse, it would be a powerful statement to steal a top-50 recruit out of Kirby Smart’s backyard.

4-star cornerback from Georgia has Ohio State in top ten

Might this kid be a candidate to break the seal on the 2023 recruiting cycle for Ohio State?

Ohio State is continuously working the recruiting trail hard for the 2022 class that’s currently ranked No. 1 in the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, but it’s also looking forward to 2023 as the two recruiting cycles begin to overlap. There’s not a commitment for 2023 just yet, but the Buckeyes appeared in the top ten of 4-star cornerback Kayin Lee Friday.

Out of Ellenwood, Georgia, Lee has offers from many big-time programs already. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Lee is ranked as the No. 9 cornerback and 87th overall prospect in the 2023 class. Besides, OSU, the other schools in his top ten that he dropped on Twitter Friday include Georgia, Miami, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Pitt, UCF, Arkansas, and Indiana.

There hasn’t been too much information on which schools Lee might be leaning towards, and it’s probably a little early to get too excited about reading any kind of signs, but we’ll stay on top of the recruitment as more information becomes available.
