Kansas at Texas odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Kansas at Texas odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 24 Kansas Jayhawks (4-0, 1-0 Big 12) and No. 5 Texas Longhorns (4-0, 1-0) meet Saturday at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Kansas vs. Texas odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Kansas covered the spread as a 9-point home favorite with a 38-27 win vs. the BYU Cougars as the Over (56.5) hit last Saturday. QB Jalon Daniels threw 3 TDs, and Kansas’ defense scored twice.

Texas covered as a 17.5-point favorite with a 38-6 win at the Baylor Bears as the Under (49) cashed last Saturday. QB Quinn Ewers finished 18-of-23 passing for 293 yards with a TD and rushed for another score.

The last time these teams met, Texas covered as a 9-point road favorite with a 55-14 win as the Over (63.5) hit Nov. 19, 2022.

Texas is No. 5 and Kansas is No. 24 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Kansas at Texas picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas 38, Kansas 16

Moneyline

The Longhorns (-800) are pretty much a lock at home to beat any team ranked beneath them, but most bettors don’t want to risk $800 to win $100.

PASS. Lay the points and/or bet the total instead.

Against the spread

Texas is a legitimate threat to win the National Championship this year and is tied with the Ohio State Buckeyes for the 4th-best odds at +900. Ewers is playing like a top-3 QB in the nation, and Texas’ defense is allowing just 12.5 points per game.

This will be Kansas’ 1st real test of the season, and I’m not confident in its ability to keep this game close after barely covering vs. BYU and struggling as a 28-point road favorite in a 31-24 win at the Nevada Wolf Pack the week before.

BET TEXAS -16.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Under is 3-1 in Longhorns games this season as Texas’ defense continues to bully opponents. Kansas has put up an average of 37.8 points per game this season but has only faced inferior competition. This should be a reality check for the Jayhawks, who needed multiple TDs from their defense last week just to cover by 2 points.

BET UNDER 61.5 (-110).

Kansas at Texas odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Kansas at Texas odds and lines, with expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks (25-5, 13-4 Big-12) will finish off another Big-12 conference title-winning season against the No. 7 Texas Longhorns  (22-8, 11-6) at the Moody Center Saturday at 4 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Kansas vs. Texas odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Kansas came into this week ranked No. 3 in the nation. With a 66-63 win over Texas Tech Tuesday, the Jayhawks clinched a top 5 finish once again. It also clinched at least a share of the 17th regular season conference title under coach Bill Self.

Check out: USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

Texas, who lost coach Chris Beard early in the season, was able to hold on until the end under interim Rodney Terry. Unfortunately, a loss to Baylor over the weekend, followed by a 75-73 loss to TCU Wednesday, saw the Longhorns fade from the conference hunt in the final week.

A win in this game will not mean much for Kansas. But a win for Texas, at home, could stop the bleeding of a 2-game losing streak before the Longhorns head into March Madness – where it hopes to use its superior talent to get to the second weekend of games. And hopefully further. A win would go a long way in regaining confidence and momentum for the beleaguered crew.

Kansas at Texas picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas 80, Kansas 73

Moneyline

PASS.

Kansas has nothing to play for in this game. It is getting ready for the tourney, and the Jayhawks will walk through this game without trying to do anything drastic or physical. Texas needs this game to stop the bleeding a 2-game losing streak has caused. With the game being in Austin, expect Texas to come out firing for the home crowd.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

Take TEXAS -3.5 (-105).

With Kansas gliding, Texas will be able to use its offense to smother the Jayhawks in this season finale.

Texas is 7-1 in its last 8 games following a loss. It has also been good ATS at home covering the spread in 4 of its last 5 home games.

With Kansas coming in with nothing in danger, the Longhorns will use their 30th ranked offense at 79.0 points, to put plenty of points on the board to cover this 3.5-point spread.

Over/Under

Take the OVER 148.5 (-115).

Texas has gone Over in 9 of its last 12 games at home. The Longhorns have also gone Over in 4 of 5 Saturday games recently.

Kansas has a solid defense at 68.0 points, but it is not looking to do much here. This means Texas will score at will. And this means another home Over is in store for Texas.

Kansas at Texas odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Kansas Jayhawks at Texas Longhorns odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets in a Big 12 matchup.

The No. 8 Kansas Jayhawks (19-3, 8-1 Big 12) visit Frank Erwin Center to take on the No. 20 Texas Longhorns (17-6, 6-4) Monday. Tip-off is slated for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Kansas vs. Texas odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

This Big 12 battle is the premier Monday night ESPN matchup. Kansas is no stranger to big games, recently defeating 10th-ranked Baylor 83-59 at home Saturday. Kansas did lose to now-No. 4 Kentucky in a non-conference home game 80-62 Jan. 29, its only loss in the last 8 games.

The Jayhawks are 8-2 straight up (SU) in their last 10 games but covered the spread just 4 times in that span. Kansas is 10-11-1 against the spread (ATS) overall, including 4-5 ATS in conference matchups. G Ochai Agbaji leads the Jayhawks in scoring with 20.8 points per game (PPG).

Texas features the country’s No. 1 defense, allowing 54.9 PPG. The Longhorns are 14-1 SU at home and 10-13 ATS overall this season. They are 5-5 ATS in conference play. F Timmy Allen (11.2 PPG) and G Marcus Carr (11.1 PPG) lead Texas in scoring.

Kansas at Texas odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas 66, Kansas 63

Money line

BET TEXAS (+105).

The Longhorns have been virtually unbeatable at home.

They’re 14-1 on their home court, having only lost to Kansas State by 1 (66-65) Jan. 18. The Longhorns shot just 23.5% (4-for-17) from deep in that matchup. They’re coming off a 22-point win (63-41) over then No. 22 Iowa State Saturday, a week after taking down No. 18 Tennessee 52-51.

Given that Agbaji is Kansas’ go-to threat and Texas has the best defensive backcourt in the NCAA, the Longhorns should be able to limit the superstar guard.

Kansas is 3-1 on the road over its past 4, all Big 12 matchups, with two of the wins by just 3 point each. This is going to be a close, hard-fought battle, one that should result in the home side coming out on top.

Against the spread

LEAN to TEXAS +1.5 (-110).

As noted, Kansas has been playing games close. This game should be no different.

While Texas is just 1-5 ATS against ranked opponents, Kansas hasn’t fared much better at 2-4 ATS against ranked opponents.

I’ll take the home side in this battle.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 131.5 (-107).

As mentioned, the Longhorns are holding opponents to 54.9 PPG. Kansas averages 80.2 PPG to rank 19th in the NCAA, but on the road, in a raucous environment, that number should slip.

Texas is 9-14 O/U overall and 4-11 O/U at home. Kansas is 13-9 O/U but just 2-4 O/U against ranked opponents.

Kansas at Texas odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Kansas Jayhawks at Texas Longhorns odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Kansas Jayhawks (17-7 overall, 11-5 Big 12) visit the Texas Longhorns (13-6, 7-5) in a Tuesday night (9 p.m. ET) ranked-ranked battle at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. Below, we analyze the Kansas-Texas college basketball odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Texas is No. 16 in the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. Kansas is ranked 19th.

  • Against the spread/ATS: Kansas +3.5 (-115) | Texas -3.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under: 139.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Kansas at Texas: Three things to know

  1. The Longhorns are coming off an 84-82 home loss to West Virginia (Saturday) and have lost four of their last six games. Texas shot 54.2% from the field against WVU; UT has shot over 54% in two of those recent four setbacks.
  2. Texas defeated Kansas, 84-59, on Jan. 2. For the Jayhawks, the loss was the start of a slide that saw Kansas lose six of 10 from Jan. 2-Feb. 6. The Jayhawks have since rallied to win five consecutive games. Over those five, Kansas has held foes to just 56.4 points per game on a 36.3% shooting mark from the field.
  3. Looking a possession analytics, Kansas ranks second in the Big 12 in preventing free throws. Texas ranks last in the circuit in that same measure. In three of the Longhorns last four losses, their opponent has gotten to the charity stripe 30-plus times.

Against the spread (ATS)

Against the number, Kansas has come up short in its road games against top teams (losses to West Virginia, Tennessee, Oklahoma in the last month). And in this one, the Jayhawks are away from home for the third time in a four-game stretch.

Look for a rebound from the Longhorns and for Texas to have the better inside looks in this contest. BACK THE LONGHORNS -3.5 (-105).

Over/Under (O/U)

The Over is: 4-1 in Kansas’ last five games … 6-0 in the Jayhawks’ last six road games against teams with a winning home record … 7-1 in the Longhorns’ last eight home games.

Figure on a better Kansas effort in this second meeting and on the Jayhawks getting a chunk of untimed points at the foul line.

TAG THE OVER 139.5 (-110) WITH A LEAN.
