247Sports analyst doesn’t like MSU’s chances vs. Rutgers – here’s why…

One analyst from 247Sports is not particularly high on the Spartans’ chances in Saturday’s finale against Rutgers

Justin Thind of 247Sports is not particularly high on the Spartans’ chances in Saturday’s finale against Rutgers.

Michigan State is a slight favorite in the matchup with the Scarlet Knights, but Thind is questioning how that is so. Thind took to social media platform X on Friday, and explained why he likes Rutgers to beat Michigan State on Saturday.”

Here’s what Thind had to say about this matchup between the Spartans and Scarlet Knights on X:

Rewatching Friday night’s game, not optimistic about MSU’s chances vs Rutgers tomorrow. With Tatum, Brantley, Rucker, Hughes, and Coley out at CB, Rutgers will simply target whichever receiver isn’t being covered by Ed Woods every 3rd down. That’s what Purdue did all 2nd half even when MSU’s run defense stood tall on early downs, and it worked well no matter what blitzes or coverages Joe Rossi tried to call. Rutgers has more talent & a better run game than Purdue to complement that pass plan. You won’t be holding them to -2 rush yards like Fri. Not to mention MSU’s offensive struggles…”

Michigan State comes into this game needing a win to become bowl-eligible for the first time since 2021. The Spartans are 5-6 overall and 3-5 in Big Ten play.

Kickoff between the Spartans and Scarlet Knights is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The game will be televised on Fox Sports 1.

Michigan State is apparently in a great position to land one of the top point guards in the 2022 class.

The Spartans picked up a 247Sports crystal ball prediction for four-star point guard Tre Holloman of Saint Paul, Minn. on Friday. Michigan State recruiting insider Justin Thind was the one who entered the crystal ball prediction, stating in a tweet that a decision is not imminent but he’s locking in a pick for the Spartans.

Holloman is ranked as the No. 11 point guard and No. 72 overall prospect in 247Sports composite rankings or the 2022 class. He’s also listed as the top player from Minnesota.

Holloman — who is listed at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds — holds scholarship offers from Michigan State, Marquette, Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, Oklahoma State, Texas, Baylor, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Dayton.

MSU picks up three crystal ball predictions for 4-star DL Alex VanSumeren

It appears Michigan State is getting close to landing a huge prospect in the 2022 class

It appears Michigan State is getting close to landing a huge prospect in the 2022 class.

Three different recruiting insiders with 247Sports put in crystal ball predictions on Monday that state Michigan State will land four-star defensive lineman Alex VanSumeren of Essexville, Mich.

Stephen Brooks, Justin Thind and Corey Robinson — who collectively have been wrong only once on 54 of their 2022 crystal ball predictions — each pegged VanSumeren to pick Michigan State. His brother, Ben, is also a Spartan after transferring from Michigan this offseason.

VanSumeren is ranked as the No. 27 defensive lineman and No. 179 overall prospect in the 2022 class by 247Sports. He is also ranked as the No. 4 player in the state of Michigan for the class.

He currently holds scholarship offers from numerous power programs, including Alabama, Clemson and Texas A&M. So if the Spartans are able to actually land VanSumeren, it would be arguably the best recruit new head coach Mel Tucker has gotten so far.

Keep an eye on his recruitment as a big announcement could be coming soon.
