Who was the Baltimore Ravens MVP from first 12 games of the season?

With Baltimore on a bye week, we’re looking which players has been the Ravens MVP through the first 12 games of the regular season

The Ravens are 9-3 and sitting atop the AFC after a 20-10 win over the Chargers at SoFi Stadium in Week 12.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson was 18-32 passing, for 177 yards and one passing touchdown, while also logging 11 carries for 39 yards. Explosive rookie running back Keaton Mitchell led the group with 64 yards on nine carries, while Zay Flowers had two touchdowns and 62 total yards on the night.

With Baltimore’s much-needed bye week complete and the team set to return to the Under Armour Performance Center to begin preparation for the Rams, we’re looking at the team MVP from the first 12 games.

Justin Madubuike becomes first Ravens player since 2017 to reach 10 sacks

Justin Madubuike becomes first Ravens player to reach 10 sacks since Terrell Suggs.

During a 20-10 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday night in Week 12, Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Justin Madubuike combined with second-year defensive tackle Travis Jones to bring down quarterback Justin Herbert for a loss of seven yards on first down during the Chargers’ third offensive series of the game.

This half-sack put Madubuike at 10 total sacks for the season, making him the first player for the Ravens to reach the double digits since outside linebacker Terrell Suggs finished with 11 in 2017.

Madubuike has had at least half a sack in a franchise-record nine games in a row. He leads all interior defensive linemen in the NFL in sacks through 12 weeks of the season. The 2020 third-round pick out of Texas A&M will receive a massive payday this offseason, whether from Baltimore or another team in free agency. Spotrac.com projects Madubuike’s market value to be a three-year, $55.3 million contract with an average salary of $18.4 million.

With QB Lamar Jackson taking up a significant portion of the salary cap (his cap number is $32.4 million in 2024), the Ravens will have a more challenging time keeping players such as Madubuike around for the long term. Baltimore will have a compensatory pick heading their way in the 2025 draft if they decide to let Madubuike walk or are outbid for him in free agency this offseason.

Ravens’ defense unshakeable in 20-10 win vs Chargers

The Ravens held the Chargers offense scoreless in the second and third quarter, sacked Justin Herbert three times, and forced three fumbles.

The Baltimore Ravens kept the Los Angeles Chargers offense nullified on Sunday night.

Holding the Chargers scoreless in the second and third quarters, the Ravens sacked quarterback Justin Herbert three times, forced three fumbles, and picked up one interception.

Chargers’ wide receiver, Keenan Allen had 14 catches for 106 yards, likely due to the absence of the Ravens’ defensive back, Marlon Humphrey.  Still, the Ravens held the Chargers to just one touchdown and just 26:37 total time of possession.

The Ravens offense converted just 30.7% of their third-down attempts.

However, the Baltimore defense was so unshakeable that the Chargers failed to build momentum. The Ravens now rank No. 2 in points allowed per game in the NFL. If this dominance continues, their chances of winning the AFC may materialize.

Aggies in the NFL: Where to watch in Week 12 of the NFL Schedule

See where all your favorite Aggies are playing during the 12th Sunday and Monday of the 2023 NFL regular season.

Week 12 in the NFL season started off in blowout fashion on Thanksgiving Day, As, in annual fashion, the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys played their eleventh games of the season, and both outcomes were heavily lopsided.

Hosting the Green Bay Packers, the Lions were not prepared for their conference foes, who would take a 23-6 lead into halftime after blitzing quarterback Jared Goff, forcing multiple fumbles in the process. Making adjustments after the half, Detroit’s 16-point comeback wasn’t enough, as Packers QB Jordan Love threw his third touchdown of the game to seal the visitors 29-22 win.

On the other side, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is having an MVP season after throwing for 331 yards and four touchdowns en route to a 45-10 win over Washington. Still, it was cornerback Deron Bland’s NFL Record fifth interception return for a touchdown this season, as the second-year defensive back is now the favorite to win NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

As we do every week during the regular season, plenty of Aggies are well-represented within the NFL, including some of the best players on both sides of the ball. Here are the matchups, game times, and broadcasting information for several Aggies playing in the NFL this Sunday and Monday.

John Harbaugh explains decision to sit Broderick Washington against the Bengals

The Baltimore Ravens had a surprise name on their inactive list for their Week 11 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football.

After not appearing on the injury report all week leading up to the game, fourth-year defensive tackle Broderick Washington was inactive for the divisional showdown. This came as quite a surprise, as the 2020 fifth-round pick out of Texas Tech signed a three-year contract extension worth up to $17.5 million with the Ravens this offseason.

Head Coach John Harbaugh was asked about this decision during his Monday press conference.

“It just has to do with our opponent,” Harbaugh said. “The types of formations and personnel groups they were in. The type of game they play on offense. It was a strategic decision in terms of how to best use our personnel.”

Harbaugh was then asked what he has seen from Washington’s play this season compared to last year.

“I love Broderick,” Harbaugh said. “He’s a guy that just brings it every single practice, every single game. Very physical player. Does a great job pushing the pocket, pass, run game. Leader. Tone setter, for sure. He’s a Raven. We love it when he’s out there. He understood the situation. That’s just kind of a week-to-week process.”

Washington was the first player from Baltimore’s impressive 2020 draft class to receive a second contract. Other notable players from his class include first-round inside linebacker Patrick Queen, who is top ten in total tackles in the NFL, third-round defensive tackle Justin Madubuike, who leads all NFL interior defensive linemen in sacks with 9.5, and seventh-round safety Geno Stone, who is tied for the league lead in interceptions with six this season.

Through 11 weeks this season, Washington has 12 total tackles, one sack, and one fumble recovery.

Ravens have two players make a list of the top 25 NFL free agents for 2024

Ravens have Justin Madubuike and Patrick Queen make an ESPN ranking of the top 25 NFL free agents for 2024

General manager Eric DeCosta, Ozzie Newsome’s successor, has grown increasingly aggressive in handing out contracts, and he’s now built a Super Bowl hopeful for 2023 and beyond.

Baltimore currently has about $6,626,029 in cap space per Over The Cap, and they’re spending about $120+ million plus on the offensive side of the football.

The Ravens also have 26 players scheduled to hit free agency, and some tough decisions will be made regarding who returns to Baltimore.

ESPN recently did an early ranking of the top 25 free agents for 2024, and John Harbaugh’s squad had two players make the list or land on the honorable mentions.

The overall positional spending will change in the coming years after Lamar Jackson signed a massive five-year, $260 million contract extension, making him among the three highest-paid players on average in NFL history.

Aggies in the NFL: Where to watch in Week 10 of the NFL Schedule

See where all your favorite Aggies are playing during the tenth Sunday and Monday of the 2023 NFL regular season.

Week 10 of the 2023 NFL Season was not the most exciting matchup, as the one-win Carolina Panthers traveled to Chicago to face the Bears on Thursday Night Football, as both franchises are still rebuilding.

Former Divison III quarterback Tyson Bagent made his fourth start this season, already surpassing a feat that many deemed impossible for the former Harlon Hill Trophy winner, as Justin Fields continues to rehab this season.

However, what’s becoming somewhat forgettable week to week is that Panthers’ starting quarterback Bryce Young, who was the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, has been somewhat underwhelming in his first season. The streak continued on Thursday night with just 185 passing yards and zero touchdowns through the air.

Both teams relied on their defenses, while only one offensive touchdown was scored after Bears running back D’Onta Foreman found the end zone from four yards out late in the third quarter. Trailing 16-13 with just 1:40 left in the fourth, Panthers head coach Frank Reich opted to try a 59-yard field goal instead of going for it on fourth down, leading to kicker Eddy Pineiro’s missing the kick, handing the Bears their third win on the season.

As we do every week during the regular season, plenty of Aggies are well-represented within the NFL, including some of the best players on both sides of the ball. Here are the matchups, game times, and broadcasting information for several Aggies playing in the NFL this Sunday and Monday.

Lamar Jackson on the Ravens defense: They have no weakness

Ahead of Baltimore’s Week 10 matchup against the Cleveland Browns, star quarterback Lamar Jackson says the Ravens defense has no weakness

Sunday’s matchup at M&T Bank Stadium will feature the top two defensive units in the NFL statistically when the Ravens host the Browns in an intense Week 10 matchup.

Cleveland ranks first in yards allowed (234.8), the fewest allowed through nine weeks in 15 years.

Baltimore leads the league in points allowed (13.8), the lowest number this far into a season since its 2000 Super Bowl-winning defense.

During his post-practice sit down with the media, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was asked about his squad, and he didn’t hide the praise.

“Not trying to toot our own horn, but I believe our defense has no weakness,” Lamar Jackson said. “Just from the defensive line, the linebackers, the secondary, how they’re flying around and disguising defenses — making it look like one coverage, but it’s something else — and how they time up their blitzes, it helps us out a lot, because when we’re playing other teams, they’re flying around and giving us their best shot. It’s like we’re seeing one of the best defenses every day.”

Both defenses are coming off standout performances in Week 9, as the Browns allowed 58 total yards while recording their first shutout since 2007 in beating the Arizona Cardinals 27-0.

The Ravens allowed their fewest yards in five years when they held the Seattle Seahawks to 151 yards in a 37-3 victory.
