Justin Madubuike ties NFL record of 11 straight games with at least a half-sack

Another week, another sack for Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Justin Madubuike.

The fourth-year defensive tackle tied the NFL record of 11 straight games with at least a half-sack with his strip sack against Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence in the Ravens’ 23-7 victory on Sunday Night Football.

Madubuike now has 12 sacks for the year, with three games remaining on the schedule for the regular season. The 2020 third-round pick is gearing up for a massive payday this offseason as he is currently set to hit the open market as a free agent.

Spotrac.com currently has a three-year calculated market value of $55.3 million, with an average annual salary of $18.4 million for Madubuike. Meanwhile, overthecap.com says the franchise tag for defensive tackles in 2024 is estimated to be $19.7 million.

Following the game, Madubuike revealed that his goal for the season is to hit 15 sacks. Madubuike currently leads all interior defensive linemen in sacks this season and is ninth among all players in the league.

Baltimore will have to make tough decisions this offseason, with several key players hitting free agency looking to cash out, particularly on the defensive side of the ball.

The Baltimore Ravens held the Jacksonville Jaguars offense to just one touchdown Sunday night.

Defensive coordinator Mike MacDonald used a plethora of pass rush concepts to rattle Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawerence.

Here’s a look at defensive lineman Justin Madubuike sacking Lawerence and forcing a fumble late in the 4th quarter Sunday night.

The Ravens are now allowing just 16.1 points per game and rank No.1 in the NFL in that category.

Aggies in the NFL: Where to watch in Week 15 of the NFL Schedule

See where all your favorite Aggies are playing during the 15th Sunday and Monday of the 2023 NFL regular season.

Week 15 of the 2023 NFL season was started on Thursday, as the Las Vegas Raiders, after scoring zero points last weekend in a 3-0 loss to Minnesota last Sunday, scored a franchise-record 63 points against the hapless Los Angeles Chargers, who went on to fire head coach Bradon Staley just a day later.

On Saturday, six teams played on the annual weekend before Christmas as several Sunday matchups will continue to provide more context regarding the playoffs, including Dallas’s road trip vs. Buffalo at 3:25 CT.

Concerning the plethora of Aggies in the NFL, no one was better than Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Justin Madubuike last weekend, recording seven tackles, five solo tackles, a sack, one tackle for loss, and five quarterback hits in the Ravens 37-31 OT win over the Las Angelas Rams.

As we do every week during the regular season, plenty of Aggies are well-represented within the NFL, including some of the best players on both sides of the ball. Here are the matchups, game times, and broadcasting information for several Aggies playing in the NFL this Sunday and Monday.

5 Ravens players who could cause problems for the Jaguars in Week 15

Will the Jaguars defense be able to wrangle Lamar Jackson and co. on Sunday?

The Jacksonville Jaguars have hit another rough patch in their 2023 season. After two consecutive losses, Jacksonville is in serious need of a bounce-back win.

But their Week 15 opponent is one of the toughest teams in the league. The Baltimore Ravens are 10-3 and have won their last three games.

Baltimore has one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, a ferocious running game, and a top-tier defense. If the Jaguars want to get back on track, they’ll have to pull off an upset on Sunday Night Football.

Here are five Ravens players who could cause trouble for the Jaguars in Week 15:

Best Photos: Top Aggie performances from Week 14 of the NFL season

Texas A&M was well represented in Week 14 of the NFL, and we have some of the best photos for you to check out

We are now past the halfway point of the regular schedule, and playoff pictures are starting to take shape. As we look forward to the rest of the games this week, I’d like to take some time to recognize a few top week 13 performances from Aggies in the NFL.

Defensive lineman Justin Madubuike got another sack, extending his streak to ten games. His 11 sacks on the season put him in the top ten in the NFL through 13 games with the Ravens. Here are his stats from Sunday’s OT win over the Los Angeles Rams.

  • 7 tackles / 1 TFL / 1 sack / 5 QB hits

Donovan Wilson made his first appearance on the list this year and showed up in a big way. Early in the game, with the Eagles driving, Wilson stripped Jalen Hurts and recovered the fumble setting the tone for the rest of the game on the way to a Cowboys victory.

  • 5 tackles / 1 Force Fumble / 1 Fumble Recovery

Josh Reynolds has been a little quiet over the past few weeks, but he reached the endzone. Even with his score, the Lions still fell to the Chicago Bears.

  • 3 catches / 44 yards / 14.7 avg / 1 TD

Another great week for these former Aggies, and you can check out some of the best photos from week 14.

Ravens DT Justin Madubuike just keeps getting sacks

Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman Justin Madubuike managed to record yet another sack in the week 14 win over the Rams.

Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman Justin Madubuike managed to record yet another sack in the week 14 win over the Rams. Madubuike continues to be disruptive versus the run as well, working as a key component in what has statistically been the best defensive team in the AFC.

Madubuike is now tied for No. 10 in the NFL in total sacks for 2023 and the Ravens lead the entire league in that category. The team has thrived under defensive coordinator Mike MacDonald’s system and after recording just 5.5 sacks in 2022, Madubuike has already surpassed that number in 2023.

At just the age of 26, Madubike is still operating under a four-year $4.853 million deal he signed in 2020. He’s scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent in 2024 and if the Ravens stamp his career with an AFC and/or Super Bowl championship this year, Madubuike is likely to get a favorable contract in free agency.  The Ravens already attempted to sign him to an extension according to ESPN and now, Madubuike has the entire league on watch as he continues to perform at a high level.

Aggies in the NFL: Where to watch in Week 14 of the NFL Schedule

See where all your favorite Aggies are playing during the 14th Sunday and Monday of the 2023 NFL regular season.

Week 14 of the NFL season was more entertaining than many of us anticipated, as the 2-10 New England Patriots traveled to face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night and looked competent on offense for the first time all season. While Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett would miss the game due to injury, backup Mitch Trubisky struggled throughout the game.

On the other side, Patriots backup Bailey Zappe, who has now started the last two games, out-dueled Trubisky, throwing for 240 yards and three touchdowns, while former Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott accounted for 140 yards and a touchdown in his best game as Patriot to date.

Even though the Steelers had a chance to win or tie the game in the final seconds, Trubisky chose to take a 50/50 deep shot on 4th & 2 instead of simply converting with a short pass, leading to a 21-18 Patriots victory.

As we do every week during the regular season, plenty of Aggies are well-represented within the NFL, including some of the best players on both sides of the ball. Here are the matchups, game times, and broadcasting information for several Aggies playing in the NFL this Sunday and Monday.

Where the Ravens currently rank in 2024 Pro Bowl voting

Where the Baltimore Ravens currently rank in 2024 Pro Bowl voting

Early results for the ongoing voting process for the 2024 Pro Bowl were revealed on Wednesday.

The Baltimore Ravens are looking to be well-represented in the Pro Bowl with the fourth-most votes among all 32 teams with 16 players in total making the top 10 of their position in the AFC.

Where does each player rank in the AFC?

Ravens lead all NFL teams in total sacks with 47

The Baltimore Ravens lead the entire NFL in team sacks with 47 on the season.

In an AFC filled with offensive juggernauts, the Baltimore Ravens have contrarily built their core on defensive excellence as the top AFC seed through Week 13.

This is best reflected in the Ravens’ total of 47 sacks, which leads the NFL.

A combination of key signings, like the one-year, $2.5 million contract for outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney and the one-year, $1.4 million deal with OLB Kyle Van Noy, is a big part of the defense’s success. Clowney has recorded 7.5 sacks on the season, and Van Noy has recorded six.

Defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald knows that when the Ravens are able to gain early leads, he can nullify the opposing rushing attack and wreak havoc in the pass rush. However, when Baltimore falls behind, sacks may lessen as opponents begin to run the ball at a higher rate.

The Ravens offense must help the defense by both winning the time-of-possession battle and avoiding short drives that subject the defense to attrition.

Ranking No. 21 in passing touchdowns, the Ravens offense has not shown an ability to win games by primarily passing the ball. Because of this, the Ravens need to avoid offensive shootouts and control the game clock so the defense can be fueled in Macdonald’s pass-rush schemes.

Patrick Queen is not a fan of Spotrac’s four year, $67 million contract prediction

Patrick Queen projected to sign a 4 year, $67 million contract in 2024

Baltimore Ravens inside linebacker Patrick Queen is in the midst of his best season. The fourth-year linebacker is heading towards a sizeable payday this offseason, whether from the Ravens or another team in free agency.

Spotrac currently projects a four-year, $67 million contract for Queen. It is safe to say Queen is not a fan of those numbers, as he responded with a thumbs-down emoji.

The former first-round pick is set to become an unrestricted free agent following this season after Baltimore declined to pick up his fifth-year option over the offseason.

Queen’s NFL journey to this point has been an up-and-down ride. Still, something appeared to click for the speedy playmaker last season, and his level of play was only amplified by the arrival of Roquan Smith as the two went on to become one of the best linebacker duos in the entire league.

Queen is not the only player from the Ravens’ 2020 draft class looking to cash in this offseason, with defensive tackle Justin Madubuike and safety Geno Stone having great seasons. After signing quarterback Lamar Jackson to a five-year, $260 million contract this offseason, Baltimore will have to make many difficult decisions in the future regarding the salary cap.

Given that the Ravens already signed Smith to a five-year, $100 million contract, it is hard to imagine them giving out a second massive contract at the inside linebacker position.

Through the first 12 games this season, Queen has 102 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and four passes defended.
