Georgia signs 4-star DL Justin Greene

Georgia signs 4-star DL Justin Greene

National Signing Day has been good to the Georgia Bulldogs, who’ve locked-down the nation’s No. 1 overall class in the 2024 cycle.

Among the star-studded group of signees is four-star defensive lineman Justin Greene. The Lawrenceville, Ga., product plays for Mountain View High School.

Greene (6-foot-4, 260 pounds) is regarded as the No. 23 defensive lineman, the No. 21 player in the state and the No. 151 recruit overall in his class, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Greene racked up 63 tackles, four sacks and blocked six kicks on special teams in 2022.

Greene joins Joseph Jonah-Ajonye, Nasir Johnson, Jordan Thomas and Namdi Ogboko as signees along the defensive line.

Georgia pads 2024 recruiting lead with another blue-chip DL commit

This group now has 19 hard commits and ranks No. 1 in the nation by a huge margin.

Georgia has stomped the college football world over the last two years, largely thanks to their highly-disruptive defensive line. However, most of those DLs have gone on to get drafted by the Eagles, so the Bulldogs will have to keep bringing in talent up front to maintain that dominance. So far, they seem to be up to the challenge.

On Tuesday, Kirby Smart’s staff managed to get another blue-chip piece for that unit. Here’s how Don Bosco Prep (N.J.) four-star defensive lineman Jordan Thomas announced his commitment to Georgia.

Thomas (6-foot-5, 296 pounds) is ranked No. 1 overall in New Jersey, No. 13 at his position and No. 105 nationally in the class of 2024, going by the 247Sports composite rankings.

23 other schools made offers, with Rutgers and South Carolina being the other favorites for Thomas’ commitment.

Georgia’s class of 2024 also recently got a commitment from Mountain View (Ga.) DL Justin Greene, who was recruited by the No. 1 overall prospect in the class, quarterback Dylan Raiola. This group now has 19 hard commits and ranks No. 1 in the nation by a huge margin.

LSU offers top-50 Georgia EDGE Justin Greene

Greene, a four-star recruit, would be a major addition to LSU’s class.

[autotag]Justin Greene[/autotag] is a 6-foot-5, 235-pound, four-star edge rusher in the class of 2024. He is from Lawrenceville, Georgia, where he plays for Mountain View High School. The Mountain View Bears finished the 2022 season 5-6 with a loss to Norcross in the first round of the Georgia 7A state playoffs.

There are currently no Crystal Ball projections for Greene, but South Carolina is a 51% favorite to land him per On3.

Film Analysis: Greene was pretty much unblockable in the Bears’ game against Jackson County. You can see that in his film below. It didn’t matter which side of the ball he lined up on, he has enough skills to make any offensive tackle look silly.

Auburn offers elite 2024 defensive linemen Justin Greene

Hugh Freeze and Co. are looking to build on a successful early signing period.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] exceeded all expectations with his transitional signing class, flipping several key targets and getting Auburn’s class into the top 20 nationally.

The focus is now on the 2024 recruiting class and returning Auburn to where it belongs, inside the top 10. One way to do that is for Auburn to land more elite recruits and on Monday they extended an offer to four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Justin Greene[/autotag], one of the best in the country.

Measuring in at 6-foot-4, and 226 pounds, the Lawrenceville, Georgia product already has offers from Michigan State, Kentucky, South Carolina, and now Auburn.

He is the No. 50 overall player and No. 9 defensive lineman in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 9 player from the Peach State.

Greene has played varsity for Moutain View High School since he was a freshman and has excelled at rushing the passer. He made 63 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and 4.0 sacks in 11 games during his junior season.

Auburn does not have a commit from a defensive lineman in the 2024 class but has two commitments in four-star quarterback Adrian Posse and four-star cornerback A’Mon Lane.

Swinney Camp Notebook: Day 4, Morning Session

The Clemson Insider was back on hand for Day 4 of the Dabo Swinney Camp on Saturday, June 11. Here are our notes and observations from the morning session of Saturday’s Swinney Camp.

  • As expected, Woodland (Dorchester, S.C.) four-star tackle Kam Pringle was back on campus for an unofficial visit Saturday. Pringle didn’t participate in Saturday’s morning session. He camped at Clemson last summer and was among the first batch of rising juniors to pick up an offer when Clemson formally turned the page to offering prospects in the 2024 class.
  • Mountain View High School (Lawrenceville, Ga.) four-star defensive end Justin Greene — the nation’s No. 2 defensive lineman in the 2024 class, per 247Sports —impressed yet again. Greene will be here all three days and has certainly looked like the offer-worthy candidate we pinpointed him to be.
  • We were really impressed with the two marquee gunslinger prospects on campus: The Loomis Chaffee School’s (Windsor, CT.) Dante Reno and Hodgenville (Ky.) Larue County’s Cutter Boley.
  • Reno — a four-star class of 2024 recruit — has been on offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Brandon Streeter’s radar for quite some time now. As has Boley — a class of 2025 recruit with offers from Kentucky, Missouri, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, West Virginia and others – who made an unofficial visit on April 8 and was back on campus Friday.
  • So, it came as no surprise to us when Streeter paid careful attention to every detail concerning Reno and Boley. Even with Clemson’s quarterback board shifting in the direction of Willis (Texas) five-star DJ Lagway and Providence Day School (Charlotte, N.C) five-star Jadyn Davis, that didn’t prevent Reno from throwing in front of Streeter and Swinney for the second consecutive summer.
  • It’s clear that Clemson is still high on the Fiskdale (MA.) native, who Rivals considers to be the No. 15 quarterback in his class.
  • We were also left impressed by what Grayson’s (Loganville, Ga.) four-star interior offensive lineman Waltclaire Flynn, Jr. (pictured above) had to offer. Flynn isn’t the biggest prospect in terms of size, but his footwork, athleticism, smarts and instincts, immediately jump out. It’s no wonder that Rivals has him pegged as the No. 1 center prospect in the class of 2024.
  • Back out there for another day of work, Yulee (Fla.) three-star safety Landon Hale continues to look the part. All the tools are there and while his recruitment has seemingly heated it up, he would be one of the more sought-after safeties in the country, if he had another year of game film under his belt.
  • Before the start of Saturday’s Swinney Camp, Director of Special Teams Bill Spiers paid a lot of attention to Cornelius (N.C.) Hough 2024 kicker Nolan Hauser, who was back on campus today. Hauser’s coming off visits to North Carolina, Penn State and Tennessee, while Ohio State stopped by Hough at the end of last month. He’s quickly become one of the more high-profile kickers in the country and already has prior connections to the Clemson program.
  • TCI learned that both Troup County (Lagrange, Ga.) four-star edge rusher Qua Birdsong and four-star safety Noah Dixon will be on campus later this afternoon, Dixon reported an offer from the Tigers last week, while his teammate, Birdsong, is hopeful to add one as well.
