Former Ohio State forward Justice Sueing signed to NBA Summer League roster

Sueing will try to make an NBA roster this summer #GoBucks

After a so-so final season at [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag], many thought that forward [autotag]Justice Sueing[/autotag] would have to pursue a career overseas to continue his basketball career.

That won’t happen just yet, as Sueing was signed to the Oklahoma City Thunder Summer League roster and will get a shot at staying Stateside to play professionally.

The 6-foot, 6-inch Hawaii native didn’t have the season most expected with career lows in shooting percentage from the field and beyond the arc. Sueing did score fairly well, averaging 12.3 points per game and showed flashes of being a very good player. His issue was consistency but he certainly is a talented player.

We are interested to see how Sueing fairs in the Summer League and where his career takes him. Best of luck to Justice as he tries to make an NBA roster.

Report: Thunder sign Justice Sueing to summer league roster

The Thunder’s summer league roster continues to grow.

The Oklahoma City Thunder continue to add players. Following the 2023 NBA draft, they’ve made several undrafted players signings.

One recent addition is Ohio State forward Justice Sueing, per Draft Express’ Jon Chepkevich. The 24-year-old joins the Thunder’s summer league roster, which will play games July 3-17.

Sueing worked out for the Thunder in a pre-draft visit. He played five college seasons — the first two at California and the final three at Ohio State. In 35 games this past college season, he averaged 12.3 points on 42.4% shooting, 5.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists. He also shot 28.9% from 3 on 2.8 attempts.

Sueing joins Tanner GrovesCaleb McConnellAdam Flagler and Hunter Maldonado as undrafted free agent signings by the Thunder following their two-player draft haul of Cason Wallace and Keyontae Johnson.

The five-year college player could be an option in undrafted free agency for the Thunder.

The 2023 NBA draft is two weeks away, which means draft prospects are touring the country and meeting with teams.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are looking at possibly adding two rookies to their roster. They own the No. 12 and No. 50 picks in the draft.

Undrafted free agency will also be an option for the Thunder. A potential target following the draft could be Ohio State forward Justice Sueing, who worked out for the Thunder in a pre-draft visit, per his Instagram story.

Ohio State takes decisive lead into halftime over Michigan State

Twenty minutes to go to move on in the Big Ten Tournament! Can OSU close it out?

Well, why not keep on going? The Ohio State basketball team is a far different team than it was just a few weeks ago and has the No. 4 Michigan State team on the ropes in the Big Ten Tournament up 33-24 at halftime in Chicago.

To make things even more surprising and unexpected, Ohio State is doing it without leading scorer, freshman sensation, Brice Sensabaugh who was held out of the game as he’s evaluated for “knee soreness.”

And while there have been some good moments on the offensive end, the Buckeyes are winning this game because of their ability to dictate the pace, get back on defense, and play solid half-court defense. Michigan State is shooting just 31.0% from the field and has made just 1-of-9 three-point attempts.

Meanwhile, Ohio State has shot the ball well, making 14-of-27 (51.9%) shots from the field, including 5-of-9 from deep. Justice Sueing and Bruce Thorton lead the Buckeyes in scoring with 8 points each. OSU has just three turnovers and nine assists in the game.

All of that is fine and good, but you can expect Michigan State to push the pace and make a run in the second half. Ohio State will need to continue to limit possessions and play solid, team-defense to pull this one out.

Thoughts after Ohio State’s upset win at home against Illinois

What were your thoughts on this long awaited Buckeye win? #GoBucks

The slide is over as Ohio State stopped their 9-game losing streak, defeating Illinois at home 72-60. The young Buckeye squad showed has shown marked improvement since four freshmen have been inserted into the starting lineup and it finally resulted in a win.

Head coach [autotag]Chris Holtmann[/autotag] should be able to breathe a big sigh of relief, even though making any postseason tournament most likely isn’t in the future for this team.

There was plenty to like about what Ohio State did today, as I’m sure it felt great to finally get their fourth win in conference play. Here are my thoughts about OSU’s 12th win of the season, against 17 losses.

Ohio State basketball stumbles down stretch in loss vs. Northwestern at home

Welp. Same result. #GoBucks

You can just feel it happening. The Ohio State basketball team plays well in stretches, but once the end of the game comes around, the Buckeyes smoke and sputter and seem to lose their way.

The Buckeyes had the lead against Northwestern several times at home on Thursday night, and even under seven minutes to play, but then got disjointed on both ends of the floor and allowed the Wildcats to go on a mini-run late to put OSU in too big of a hole to climb out of. When the clock struck zeros, Ohio State was again on the wrong side of the scoreboard, losing 69-63 to drop its fifth in a row and 10 out of 11 games.

Yes, another close loss to add to the growing list. Another game in which the Buckeyes missed a ton of opportunities down the stretch.

It seems like it’s something different that spells doom for Ohio State every game. This time it wasn’t turnovers or poor overall shooting, but instead troubles from beyond the arc. OSU hit just 1-of-14 (7.1%) from 3-point range, while Northwestern made 12-of-29 (41.4%)

Justice Sueing showed up big for the Buckeyes this time around. He lead OSU with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting and pulled down seven rebounds. Unfortunately, the usually sensational Brice Sensabaugh struggled, making just 1-of-8 field goals for just four points.

With yet another loss, Ohio State drops to 11-13 overall and just 3-10 in Big Ten play. The Buckeyes will try to end the losing streak against Michigan State at home on Sunday.

You’d be well-advised not to hold your breath.

Thoughts on another Ohio State Basketball loss, its fifth straight

Another ugly conclusion. #GoBucks

Entering the New Year, the [autotag]Ohio State Buckeyes[/autotag] basketball team was 10-3 and looked like one of the best teams in the conference. New Year’s Day would be their last win, proceeding to drop five straight, their most recent tonight to a very average Nebraska team, 63-60.

It’s added to a very frustrating time for Buckeye basketball, inching towards .500 with every loss. Head coach [autotag]Chris Holtmann[/autotag] must have a warm seat right now, but with a few more losses it could be getting hotter.

Not much good came from this game, especially given the level of the opponent along with the long losing streak. This season has become increasingly frustrating and here some thoughts on the most recent loss.

Five things we learned during Ohio State’s late loss to Purdue

A tough L for the Buckeyes #GoBucks

The Buckeyes faltered late and a costly turnover eventually gave the visiting Boilermakers a 71-69 win. It was a game that Ohio State could have had but didn’t make enough plays at the end of the game to come out with a win.

There was plenty to like about this game, but there were some concerning aspects that also came out of this heart-breaking home loss. Find out below what we learned about Ohio State after losing a game that they could have won.

What we learned about Ohio State’s thrilling win over Rutgers

That was fun, wasn’t it? #GoBucks

The Buckeyes and Scarlet Knights battled a full 40 minutes on Thursday night in Columbus and an unlikely hero emerged for Ohio State. Guard Tanner Holden hit a game-winning three-point shot as time expired, giving the Bucks a 67-66 win.

The win for the Buckeyes brings their record to 7-2 with a date the reeling North Carolina next. The Tar Heels have lost their last four games and still have two more to play before hosting Ohio State.

There was a lot to take away from this game, as Rutgers is a very solid team with a star (more on that in a bit). Find out what we learned about the buzzer-beating win for Ohio State below.

Ohio State rides Justice Sueing’s big game to win over ranked Texas Tech team in Maui

You have to consider it a successful trip out to Maui after this result. #GoBucks

After three games out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean in the Maui Invitational, Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann has to be pleased with his team’s showing after a tournament-ending 80-73 win over the No. 21 Texas Tech Red Raiders. The result is a fifth-place finish by the Buckeyes.

Of course, it’d be nice to have won the whole tournament, but to finish 2-1 in such a deep field is something a team with a lot of fresh faces can build on. The Buckeyes rode a massive game from forward Justice Sueing to win one heading back to the mainland.

Sueing, a Hawaiian native, played right at home, scoring a career-high 33 points on a very efficient 12-of-19 field goals that included just 1-of-5 from three-point range, but 8-of-8 from the free throw line. Sueing also had eight rebounds and five assists to stuff the box score and put the team on his back. It was a performance many were hoping for from the veteran and versatile forward, and one that could set him up to be the main playmaker on a team with so many unknowns.

One of the big stories of the game — aside from Sueing’s big day — was Ohio State’s ability to handle the Texas Tech defensive pressure. The Buckeyes turned the ball over ten times but also forced ten turnovers themselves against a team that likes to exert defensive anxiety on teams. OSU also outrebounded a team that prides itself on being physical, 26 to 25 to show that it’s a team that won’t be bullied.

It was a pretty close game throughout, but Ohio State had a modest lead for most of the game and went into halftime with a 42-37 advantage. The lead would never be relinquished despite some mini-runs on both sides. Each time Texas Tech would pull to within four to five points, it seemed like Sueing would make a big play to keep the Buckeyes just out of reach.

Guards Sean McNeil and Brice Sensabaugh were the only other two players that scored in double figures for the Buckeyes with 13 and 10 points respectively.

With the win, Ohio State improves its record to 5-1 and will head back home where the schedule doesn’t get any easier. The Buckeyes will next face Duke at Cameron Indoor next Wednesday in the ACC\Bige Challenge after it says Aloha from Hawaii.
