Former Georgia safety promoted from Rams practice squad

The Los Angeles Rams promoted former Georgia football S JR Reed from practice squad ahead of Monday night win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Los Angeles Rams promoted former Georgia safety JR Reed from their practice squad prior to their 27 – 24 Monday night victory over Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Reed went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft but signed a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars shortly after.  He was then waived by the Jags and picked up by the Rams.

It was a surprise that Reed went undrafted, as he started every game at safety for Georgia from 2017-2019 and was named to the Associated Press All-SEC second team (2017) and Walter Camp All-America first team (2019).

This promotion is supposedly temporary, as Reed is expected to return to the practice squad on Tuesday.

Reed had 199 total tackles, three sacks and five interceptions during his time at Georgia.  Look for Reed to climb the ranks in the depth chart as his career goes on.
