Texas flipped Oregon commit Josiah Sharma on Wednesday

The Longhorns added to their 2025 class on Wednesday.

After a recent trend of whiffing on a handful of targets as of late, the Texas Longhorns earned a bit of retribution against the Oregon Ducks after they landed five-star WR Dakorien Moore.

On Wednesday the Longhorns staff flipped four-star defensive lineman Josiah Sharma. He originally pledged to play for the Ducks back on June 28. Less than a month later he backed off his original commitment and flipped to the Texas Longhorns.

The California native is a top 300 prospect according to the 247Sports composite ranking, On3 has Sharma rated as the No. 148 overall prospect and No. 25 player in his home state. The commitment was announced on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday afternoon.

Sharma also competes in wrestling at Folsom. That will help him in creating leverage against opposing offensive linemen at the next level. According to his 247Sports bio, Sharma recorded 45 tackles, 15.0 TFLs, 5.0 sacks, with two forced fumbles and a safety during his junior season.

Sharma becomes the No. 16 commit of the Longhorns’ top 15 2025 class. He is also the No. 10 commit with at least a four-star rating. Perhaps this can be the launching point for another run on the recruiting trail for the Burnt Orange.

4-star DL Josiah Sharma flips his commitment from Oregon Ducks

The Oregon Ducks saw 4-star defensive lineman Josiah Sharma flip his commitment on Thursday night.

One of the members of the Oregon Ducks’ 2025 recruiting class flipped his commitment on Thursday evening.

Four-star defensive lineman Josiah Sharma announced he would commit to the Texas Longhorns, flipping his commitment from the Ducks. Sharma committed to the Ducks on June 28.

Sharma was No. 245 overall in the 2025 class and No. 30 among defensive linemen nationally on the 247Sports composite. He was one of the lower-rated players in Oregon’s fifth-ranked 2025 class.

Though he wasn’t one of the premiere members of the class, Sharma was one of two defensive lineman in the Ducks’ 2025 haul. The remaining defensive lineman is edge Matthew Johnson.

We will see what Dan Lanning and his coaching staff have planned for the rest of the cycle, but this is something they should be able to bounce back from.

Oregon lands commitment from 4-star DL Josiah Sharma

Oregon Ducks land commitment from 4-star defensive lineman Josiah Sharma as part of a double-commitment day in Eugene.

Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks kicked off the weekend in style on Friday, landing a pair of blue-chip commitments in a matter of minutes.

The first one to come was 4-star defensive lineman Josiah Sharma, who is rated as the No. 230 player in the 2025 class, and No. 28 DL. His commitment came just a few minutes before the addition of 4-star RB Jordon Davison, who is the No. 96 player and No. 6 RB in the class.

Sharma stands at 6-foot-5, 295 pounds, and will be a bruiser on the interior defensive line for the Ducks next season, going along with the trend of big-bodied players in the trenches.

After the addition of the two players, Oregon now moved up to No. 13 in the 2025 recruiting rankings.
