UNC has made the final three for three-star defensive lineman Joshua Horton.

Three-star defensive lineman [autotag]Joshua Horton[/autotag] has narrowed down the decision on his next football home to just three schools, with UNC making the final list.

The UNC football program has been on a roll in the recruiting department and looking to add on to the already impressive 2023 class with Horton. The 220-pound recruit has shown strong interest in Carolina with the 247 crystal ball predicting it to be the next spot for Horton’s talents.

Horton took to social media to announce his final three teams, with Auburn and UCF still in the mix, and the date of his decision coming August 19th.

Last year for Langston Hughes High School, Horton had 96 total tackles, three sacks, and one fumble recovery for a touchdown in just 13 games.

Auburn three-star defensive lineman target sets recruitment date

He last visited Auburn on June 10.

An Auburn defensive target for the 2023 class has locked in his recruitment date.

Joshua Horton, who hails from Fairburn, Georgia, announced on his Twitter on Friday that he plans to commit to his school of choice on August 19th. Horton has narrowed down his final three schools to Auburn, UCF and North Carolina.

Coach Bryan Harsin would love to bolster the trenches with Horton’s commitment, but it may not be as easy as he’d like. 247Sports currently has Horton with two Crystal Ball predictions to the Tar Heels, so the Tigers may want to ramp up their recruitment for his services in the coming weeks leading up to his commitment in the middle of the month.

Horton visited Auburn officially on June 10, 2022 and was offered in the beginning of the year on Jan. 29 after visiting on Junior Day. It’s clear he was impressed enough to include the Tigers in his last three schools, but the Plains will hope their efforts to recruit him will allow them to win his favor on the day he commits.

Three-star defensive tackle recruit Joshua Horton has named his top 10 schools and indicates that a commitment is coming soon.

Three-star defensive tackle recruit Joshua Horton has named his top 10 schools and indicates that a commitment is coming soon. Horton, a member of the class of 2023, plays football for Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn, Georgia.

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound defensive lineman has recently visited UCF, Florida, and Nebraska. Horton is the No. 724 overall recruit in the country and the No. 86 defensive lineman.

Horton ranks Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, UCF, Tennessee, Nebraska, Michigan State, UNC, Mississippi State, and West Virginia as his top 10 schools. The Langston Hughes star is favored to commit to the Auburn Tigers.

Horton is a rising senior and has good grades. He visited Athens for the Georgia-South Carolina game in 2021. The Bulldogs offer Hughes back in June 2021.

Here is one of his top highlights from this past season:

Hughes could play 4-3 defensive tackle or 3-4 defensive end at the next level. The three-star defensive tackle named his top 10 schools via Twitter:

Teammate of Tigers commit puts Auburn in his top ten schools

A 2023 defensive lineman from Georgia puts Auburn in his final ten.

On Thursday, 2023 defensive lineman Joshua Horton has listed his top ten schools, among them the Auburn Tigers. Other SEC schools that were listed include Georgia, Tennessee, and Mississippi State.

Interestingly enough, he is teammates with recent Auburn commit Terrance Love. The two play at Langston Hughes High School. Horton is a strong force in the interior and certainly possesses great size. Last season, he recorded 81 tackles, eight quarterback hurries, and three sacks.

If he were to commit to Auburn, defensive line coach [autotag]Jimmy Brumbaugh[/autotag] would certainly welcome him in. So far in the 2023 class, the coaching staff has offered 35 defensive tackles. The position is clearly a point of emphasis for the Auburn Tigers during this recruiting cycle.
