Fourth person arrested following Josh Reynolds shooting

Daniel Olivarez was arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder (and other charges) following the Josh Reynolds shooting.

A fourth person has been arrested in connection to the Josh Reynolds shooting in October, according to a report from KUSA-TV’s Darren Whitehead.

Police arrested Daniel Olivarez, 30, on Dec. 16. He was taken into custody on suspicion of six counts of attempted first-degree murder, six counts of attempted first-degree assault, three counts of illegally discharging a firearm, six counts of weapon used during a violent crime and four counts of violent crime causing death or serious bodily injury.

Olivarez is set to appear in court on Dec. 24. He has a cash-only bail of $300,000.

Two other men — Luis Mendoza, 35, and Burr Charlesworth, 42 — were previously arrested with charges including six counts of attempted first-degree murder. Another man, Dirk Lisica-Lange, 31, was arrested “on suspicion of attempting to influence a public servant.”

Reynolds, 29, was shot after leaving a Denver area strip club on Oct. 18. He was already on injured reserve with a finger injury when the shooting happened. The Denver Broncos released Reynolds before his deadline to return from IR and the wide receiver now plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Doug Pederson anticipates new Jaguars WR making debut vs. Jets

Doug Pederson anticipates new Jaguars WR making debut vs. Jets

New Jaguars wide receiver Josh Reynolds is expected to make his debut when Jacksonville hosts the New York Jets in Week 15, head coach Doug Pederson said on Friday.

Jacksonville added Reynolds via waivers last Wednesday, after he was let go by the Denver Broncos on Dec. 3. He practiced with the Jaguars last Thursday and Friday but did not play against the Tennessee Titans in Week 14.

Pederson noted Reynolds has quickly fit into Jacksonville’s offense and his expectation for Reynolds to field a sizable role given the season-ending injuries the Jaguars have experienced among their starting pass-catchers, to wide receivers Christian Kirk and Gabe Davis and tight end Evan Engram.

“Smart kid, [he] has picked up our offense pretty well,” Pederson said. “Only been here for a week and has done a good job fitting in. Obviously, now we expect his role to really increase more and more these last few games.”

Reynolds logged 12 receptions for 183 yards and one touchdown in five games with the Broncos this season and 232 catches for 3,116 yards and 20 touchdowns over 112 games in his career, including 54 starts.

Reynolds spent four seasons (2017-20) with the Los Angeles Rams, half of the 2021 campaign with the Tennessee Titans, and the rest of that year through the 2023 season with the Detroit Lions.

Sean Payton explains decision to cut Josh Reynolds

“We would have liked to have been able to keep him, but as guys got healthy and came from injured reserve, we had to have space.”

Last week, the Denver Broncos cut veteran wide receiver Josh Reynolds just before his deadline to return from injured reserve.

It was a somewhat surprising decision, but if the Broncos did not activate Reynolds to the 53-man roster, the two alternatives were cutting him or leaving him on IR for the rest of the season. By waiving him, Denver gave Reynolds an opportunity to continue playing in 2024, and he was picked up by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Coming out of the bye week, Broncos coach Sean Payton was asked about the team’s decision to waive Reynolds.

“From a roster management standpoint with Josh, it just became a numbers game,” Payton explained. “He’s done a great job. We would have liked to have been able to keep him, but as guys got healthy and came from injured reserve, we had to have space. Some of the younger guys have been playing well, and I wish him the best. He’s one of those guys that helped us get to where we’re at right now.”

Courtland Sutton remains the team’s No. 1 receiver with rookie Devaughn Vele is emerging as a promising No. 2. Lil’Jordan Humphrey is a key blocker, Marvin Mims has seen his role grow this season and Troy Franklin continues to develop. With a crowded WR room and other players returning from injuries, Denver did not have room for Reynolds.

Reynolds hauled in 12 receptions for 183 yards and one touchdown in five games with the Broncos this season. He thanked the team on social media for his time in Denver after being cut last week.

Payton also recently spoke about the departure of linebacker Kwon Alexander. Last month, after the Broncos promoted linebacker Zach Cunningham from the practice squad to their active roster, Alexander joined the Detroit Lions’ active roster.

“I’m happy for Kwon,” Payton said on Nov. 30. “I had a good visit with him. We’ve been together before, and it’s a good opportunity for him, but we knew this was coming with Zach.”

Reynolds and Alexander will now get fresh starts in Jacksonville and Detroit, respectively, as the Broncos move forward with their in-house players.

Josh Reynolds comments publicly for first time since shooting

“It [was] a crazy ordeal,” Josh Reynolds said of being shot. “But, hey, I’m here now. I’m in sunny Florida. I’m just blessed to be here.”

Former Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds was shot in his left arm and in the back of his head after leaving a strip club on Oct. 18. The Broncos described his wounds as minor, and three men have since been arrested in connection to the shooting.

Reynolds was already on injured reserve with a finger injury when the shooting happened. Once Reynold’s window to return from IR was set to close, the Broncos waived him because they had a backlog of receivers.

Reynolds was then claimed off waivers by the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he spoke publicly about the shooting for the first time after last Friday’s practice.

“Yeah, man, one of them things I had rather put behind me,” Reynolds said, via Mark Long of the Associated Press. “But I mean anybody going through that, man, it is a crazy ordeal. But, hey, I’m here now. I’m in sunny Florida. I’m just blessed to be here.”

Reynolds thanked the Broncos on social media for his time with the team after being cut. With the shooting behind him, the 29-year-old receiver will get a fresh start in Jacksonville.

“Was tough for a few weeks, but I had a good support system behind me,” Reynolds told Long. “A lot of the organization over there was helping me out a lot, so they made it easier for me to kind of transition through that whole process.”

Reynolds hauled in 12 receptions for 183 yards and one touchdown in five games with Denver this season.

Press Taylor addresses Jaguars adding veteran WR Josh Reynolds

Press Taylor addresses Jaguars adding veteran WR Josh Reynolds

The Jaguars added veteran pass-catcher Josh Reynolds to their wide receiver room on Wednesday, bolstering the position’s depth following season-ending injuries to starters, Christian Kirk and Gabe Davis.

Jacksonville secured Reynolds via waiver claim after Denver waived him from their injured reserve on Tuesday. The Jaguars will take on the two-year, $9 million contract Reynolds signed with the Broncos this past offseason.

Jaguars offensive coordinator Press Taylor expressed excitement about Reynolds’ addition on Thursday, before Reynolds’ first practice with the team.

Taylor noted he had monitored the receiver since his rookie season with Los Angeles in 2017. Taylor’s brother, current Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, served as the Rams’ assistant wide receivers coach at the time.

“It’ll be fun to see,” Taylor said Wednesday. “Josh has obviously had a lot of experience in this league. Just spent at least one year out in L.A. with my brother, so I’ve always kind of kept an eye on him, known him, have followed his career, just the type of player he is.

“I think it’s nice to add an experienced veteran receiver that’s done a lot in this league. He’s got range. He’s got size. He’s got all those things that — the experience that I think you see flourish in a veteran receiver.”

A fourth-round NFL draft pick by the Rams in 2017, Reynolds spent the first four seasons of his career in Los Angeles, the first two with Taylor on the coaching staff. He joined the Detroit Lions in 2022 before signing with Denver in March.

The 29-year-old has logged 232 receptions for 3,116 yards and 20 touchdowns over 112 career appearances, including 54 starts. He caught 12 passes for 183 yards and one touchdown in five games with the Broncos before landing on Denver’s injured reserve with a hurt finger in October.

Reynolds tied his single-season career high of five touchdown receptions with the Lions in 2023.

Three suspects have been arrested in connection to a shooting that allegedly targeted Reynolds and two companions in October while he was on Denver’s injured reserve. Reynolds reportedly suffered minor injuries from the attack.

Report: Jaguars add veteran to battered WR room

Report: Jaguars add veteran to battered WR room

The Jaguars claimed veteran wide receiver Josh Reynolds on Wednesday, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

Reynolds, an eighth-year pro, was waived by Denver on Tuesday. He joined the Broncos on a two-year, $9 million free-agent contract in March after spending four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, one with the Tennessee Titans and two with the Detroit Lions.

Reynolds has logged 12 receptions for 183 yards and one touchdown this season and 232 catches for 3,116 yards and 20 touchdowns over 112 games in his career, including 54 starts.

The Broncos placed Reynolds on their injured reserve with a finger injury in Week 5 and opted to waive him rather than facilitate his return to Denver’s active roster this week.

Three suspects have been arrested in connection to a shooting that allegedly targeted Reynolds and two companions in October while he was on the Broncos’ injured reserve. Reynolds reportedly suffered minor injuries during the shooting.

Jacksonville’s wide receiver room has been plagued by short and long-term injuries this season.

The Jaguars lost starting slot receiver Christian Kirk for the year in Week 8 when he broke his collarbone against the Green Bay Packers. Starting outside receiver Gabe Davis was ruled out for the campaign after tearing his meniscus against the Detroit Lions in Week 11.

Starting outside receiver and rookie sensation Brian Thomas Jr. was also impacted by, but played through, a chest injury in Weeks 9-11. Backup slot receiver Devin Duvernay spent Weeks 6-9 on the injured reserve with a hurt hamstring.

Jaguars pick up wide receiver recently cut by Broncos

The Jaguars claimed ex-Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds off waivers.

The Jacksonville Jaguars claimed former Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds off waivers on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.

Reynolds, 29, will now get a fresh start in Jacksonville after being waived by Denver on Tuesday. The Broncos had to activate the receiver from injured reserve or cut him by Wednesday or he would remain on reserve for the rest of the season. By waiving him, Denver allowed Reynolds to continue playing, now with a new team.

Jacksonville has also picked up Reynolds’ contract, so the Broncos will save the $623,611 salary he was due for the final five weeks of the season.

Unfortunately for Reynolds, he won’t be joining a Trevor Lawrence-led offense. The Jaguars placed Lawrence on injured reserve on Wednesday after he suffered a concussion in Week 13. Jacksonville is now presumably set to start Mac Jones to close out the season.

The Jaguars have already been eliminated from playoff contention, so they will be playing for jobs down the stretch. If Reynolds impresses in the final five games of the season, he might be a candidate to return in 2025.

Reynolds hauled in 12 receptions for 183 yards and one touchdown in five games with Denver before landing on IR with a finger injury. He was also shot after leaving a nightclub in October but has since recovered from minor wounds.

Josh Reynolds shares message on Instagram after being cut by Broncos

Josh Reynolds shared a message on his Instagram story after being cut by the Broncos.

Story update: The Jacksonville Jaguars claimed Josh Reynolds off waivers on Wednesday. See our original post below.

The Denver Broncos waived veteran wide receiver Josh Reynolds on Tuesday ahead of his deadline to return from injured reserve.

After being let go by the team, Reynolds shared the following message on his Instagram story:

I just wanted to give thanks to the Broncos country for accepting me into a top notch organization and giving me a chance to ball. I wish nothing best for the team and my guys I grinded with all year 💪

Reynolds, 29, signed a two-year, $9 million contract with Denver this spring. The Broncos are now set to save $4.5 million in 2025 salary cap space after parting ways with the receiver.

Reynolds was placed on IR after he underwent finger surgery last month. Reynolds was later shot twice after leaving a nightclub in the Denver area on Oct. 18. Reynolds has since recovered from his wounds and three people have been arrested in connection to the shooting.

Had the team not activated or cut Reynolds by Wednesday, he would have remained on IR for the rest of the season. The Broncos have now given him an opportunity to sign elsewhere while the team moves forward with Courtland Sutton, Devaughn Vele, Marvin Mims, Lil’Jordan Humphrey and Troy Franklin at receiver.

Broncos will get salary cap relief in 2025 after cutting Josh Reynolds

The Broncos will have an extra $4.5 million in salary cap space in 2025 after parting ways with Josh Reynolds.

Story update: The Jacksonville Jaguars claimed Josh Reynolds off waivers on Wednesday. See our original post below.

The Denver Broncos waived veteran wide receiver Josh Reynolds on Tuesday, a move that will allow him to play elsewhere down the stretch.

The deadline to activate Reynolds (finger) from injured reserve was Wednesday and if the Broncos did not activate him to the 53-man roster or cut him, he would have spent the rest of the 2024 season on IR.

It was a surprising move to see Denver part ways with the receiver, but coach Sean Payton is clearly happy with Courtland Sutton, Devaughn Vele, Marvin Mims, Lil’Jordan Humphrey and Troy Franklin at receiver. Reynolds will now get a chance to catch on elsewhere instead of being shelved.

The move will also save the Broncos salary cap space in 2025.

Reynolds received a $2 million signing bonus that was prorated as $1 million cap hits over two years when he signed this spring. So he will have a $1 million “dead money” salary cap hit in 2025, but his $3,990,000 base salary and $510,000 roster bonus will not count against the team’s books.

That will give Denver a net savings of $4.5 million in extra salary cap space next spring, according to OverTheCap.com. Given that Reynolds will turn 30 in February, it was probably an easy decision for the Broncos.

Sutton remains the team’s WR1 and rookies Vele and Franklin have shown promise this season while Mims has seen his role increase in Year 2. Expect the team to add reinforcements in 2025 as the youth movement continues.

Ex-Lions WR Josh Reynolds is now available again

Ex-Lions WR Josh Reynolds is now available again after being released from the Broncos I.R. list on Tuesday

The Josh Reynolds saga in Denver has come to a premature end. The Broncos released the former Lions starting wide receiver from their injured reserve list on Tuesday.

Reynolds has been out since Week 5 with a finger injury, though he was also the victim of a shooting while he was on Denver’s I.R. The Broncos had to release Reynolds by Wednesday or else he would have finished the season on the I.R.

The move to Denver did not go well for Reynolds. He caught just 12 passes in five games before getting hurt and then shot.

The question becomes, would Reynolds be welcomed back to Detroit? He was a prominent receiver over the prior two-plus seasons, starting 29 games and catching 97 passes from former Rams teammate Jared Goff. The Lions effectively replaced Reynolds’ role in the offense with Tim Patrick, who ironically didn’t make the Broncos in part because of Denver signing Reynolds.

However, Kalif Raymond is out with a foot injury that could extend into the postseason. Veteran Allen Robinson has just two catches in eight games. Reynolds’ familiarity with Ben Johnson’s complex offensive system could prove to be an asset. The health status of Reynolds could also be a factor in any potential reunion with Detroit.

Update: The Jacksonville Jaguars claimed Reynolds off waivers.
