How much is Georgia Tech planning to pay its recent 5-star commit

How Georgia Tech landed a rare five-star commitment. A multimillion dollar NIL deal helped the Yellow Jackets in this one

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets recently picked up a commitment from five-star offensive tackle recruit Josh Petty. In fact, Petty represents history for the Georgia Tech program. He could become the second five-star signee in school history (according to 247Sports).

“Tech’s been very easy. Tech’s been very cooperative and efficient with working on that. I needed that number to be fair. Tech went beyond and above and really have taken care of me,” said Petty in a recent interview with the AJC.

The 6-foot-5, 265-pound offensive tackle is the 14th best player in the country. Petty is the fourth-ranked recruit in the Peach State and the top offensive tackle in Georgia. The Georgia Tech commit is the No. 2 offensive tackle in the nation.

It is safe to say Petty is a massive addition for Tech and head coach Brent Key. According to On3, a name, image and likeness licensing deal worth $2.4 million over three years helped the Yellow Jackets land a commitment from the talented offensive tackle.

Petty’s commitment represents a potential massive change in momentum for the Georgia Tech program. Georgia Tech is projected to pick up a commitment from Georgia’s most recent decommitment.

Petty’s commitment is another example of how Tech is becoming more of a pain in the side for the Georgia Bulldogs. One of Georgia’s top advantages over other elite college football programs is its lack of in-state recruiting competition. There’s no other state with as many top recruits and so little in-state recruiting competition.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart still runs recruiting in the Peach State. The Bulldogs are expected to land commitments from five of the state’s top six recruits in the 2025 cycle.

Ohio State Football misses out on five star offensive tackle

OSU is stil trying to get more momemtum in recruiting on the O-line. #GoBucks

Ohio State Football has been a hotbed for talented offensive linemen over the last decade. Names like Paris Johnson Jr. and Billy Price have come to Ohio State and left being a first-round pick.

Unfortunately, for the Buckeyes, that allure doesn’t always attract the top talent, and that was the case for Josh Petty, a five-star tackle in the Class of 2025.

Petty went with Georgia Tech over some of the nation’s top programs, including Ohio State and Tennessee. “I know it’s the right place for me,” Petty told 247Sports. The home-field advantage played a large part.

rom Roswell, Georgia, Petty was the No. 2 overall tackle in the class and the No. 14 overall recruit. He was recruited by Justin Frye and took a visit to Columbus on June 14.

The Buckeyes have the No. 1 Class of 2025, but they don’t have a ton of top-tier offensive line talent. The best lineman joining Ohio State Football in the class of now is Carter Lowe, a four-star commit from Whitmer in Toledo.

Georgia Tech beats out Ohio State, Tennessee for five-star offensive lineman

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets landed five-star offensive tackle Josh Petty in a massive recruiting win for the ACC program.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets pulled off a massive win on the recruiting trail, securing a commitment from 2025 five-star offensive tackle Josh Petty.

Petty, a native of Roswell, GA, announced his commitment to the ACC program on Monday, choosing the Yellow Jackets over finalists Florida State, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Stanford – among others.

“I know it’s the right place for me,” Petty told 247Sports. “The offensive line development at Georgia Tech is unmatched. They’ve been doing great things.”

Petty is the No. 14 ranked prospect in the 2025 class, and he becomes Georgia Tech’s first five-star commitment in the modern recruiting era. In fact, the only recruit rated higher in 247’s database is wide receiver Calvin Johnson – and that turned out quite well for the Yellow Jackets.

Staying in state and playing for the hometown team is a big part of what convinced Petty to commit to GTech – and he hopes others will follow suit:

“He’s building a Georgia-based team and Georgia has some of the best high school talent in the country,” Petty continued. “If we can keep getting high priority, in-state guys, Georgia Tech will be a great program in no time.”

Petty’s commitment is a great start for coach Brent Key and his staff.

2025 five-star offensive tackle includes Vols in top five

2025 five-star offensive tackle includes Tennessee football in top five.

2025 offensive tackle prospect Josh Petty narrowed down his top five schools.

Petty’s top five schools are: Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Florida State and Stanford.

Petty will officially visit Tennessee this weekend. He will also officially visit Ohio State on June 14 and Florida State on June 21. Petty visited Clemson on May 31 and Stanford on June 1.

The 6-foot-5, 262-pound offensive tackle is from Fellowship Christian School in Roswell, Georgia.

Petty ranks as the No. 13 overall player in the class of 2025. He also ranks as the No. 2 offensive tackle and No. 4 player in Georgia, according to 247Sports.

Tennessee offered Petty a scholarship on March 24, 2023.

Ohio State football makes final 5 for 2025 high 4-star offensive tackle

The Buckeyes are looking good in his recruitment

If there is one big need for the 2025 recruiting cycle for Ohio State football, it’s on the offensive line.

The size of the 2024 OL class was on the higher end, but the majority of signees won’t see the field for a few years. That doesn’t mean they won’t turn out to be a solid class, but there isn’t an early impact player in the group.

That looks to be changing for this current cycle, as the Buckeyes already have a commitment from in-state tackle Carter Lowe, but there are other big fish still out there. One of them is Georgia’s 6-foot, 5-inch and 262-pound tackle. [autotag]Josh Petty[/autotag], who on Tuesday morning released his top five schools with Ohio State making the cut.

Also included for the nations No. 32 overall prospect and 5th tackle according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings is Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Florida State and Stanford. It very much seems like the school with the best academics and athletics will win out in the end for Petty.

Five-Star tackle sets visit with Ohio State

Five-Star tackle sets visit with Ohio State #GoBucks

Ohio State has dialed up its recruiting efforts to an 11 and they have most recently nailed down a recruiting visit from a five-star offensive tackle in the class of 2025 from the state of Georgia in Josh Petty. He is widely considered a top five offensive tackle in the class and is projected as an immediate contributor level player.

A lot of negativity has been spread towards Justin Frye, and although I think it is a bit early to put him on the hot seat, he has been a common name coming up as next on the chopping block. His ability or lack thereof has been a storyline this off-season so sealing a commitment from a star like Petty would certainly ease those angry voices.

Florida State has been another school that has been fighting for the commitment of Petty, but his confirmed visit to Columbus on June 14 will tell us a lot about how he is feeling.

2025 five-star offensive tackle schedules Tennessee visit

2025 five-star offensive tackle schedules Tennessee football visit.

Petty will officially visit Tennessee on June 7. He will also officially visit Florida State on June 21, Oregon on June 14, Stanford on June 10, Auburn on June 4, Clemson on May 31 and Georgia Tech on May 28.

The 6-foot-5, 262-pound offensive tackle is from Fellowship Christian School in Roswell, Georgia.

Petty ranks as the No. 29  overall player in the class of 2025. He also ranks as the No. 5 offensive tackle and No. 7 player in Georgia.

The Vols have nine commitments in its 2025 recruiting class: Quarterback George MacIntyre, defensive lineman Ethan Utley, tight end Jack Van Dorseiaer, cornerback Dylan Lewis, running back Justin Baker, wide receiver Joakim Dodson, cornerback Tyler Redmond, safety Sidney Walton and wide receiver Radarious Jackson.

The nation’s No. 2 OL locks in an official visit to Auburn

Auburn is in the mix to land one of the top offensive linemen from the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Auburn football has splashed in the 2025 recruiting cycle, especially for the offensive line group.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and his coaching staff have reeled in four offensive line commitments, but the sights are still set on reeling in strong talent for the future. The next lineman on Auburn’s board is a four-star from metro Atlanta.

[autotag]Josh Petty[/autotag], a four-star OL from Fellowship Christian School in Roswell, Georgia, has released his official visit dates for the summer with Auburn getting a spot on June 4. If Auburn could seal the deal and land his commitment, he would be Auburn’s top offensive lineman commit of the cycle. Petty is a top-10 national offensive lineman by all four major recruiting outlets, with his highest ranking coming from 247Sports which ranks him No. 2 among 2024 offensive linemen.

In a recent interview with On3’s Chad Simmons, Petty shared that he wants to feel like a priority at his college destination.

“Who makes me feel like a priority will separate one school for me,” Petty said. “You can tell if a school wants you on how they talk to you and I will go where I am cared about. It is about the little things for me now. These visits will show me a lot about the people and the education. Those things mean a lot to my future.”

Petty will visit Georgia Tech and Clemson before his stop in Auburn. He will also stop by Tennessee, Stanford, Oregon, and Florida State during June.

5-Star OT Josh Petty locks in official visit with the Oregon Ducks

Josh Petty, a 5-star offensive tackle in the class of 2025, has scheduled an official visit with the Oregon Ducks.

The college football recruiting season for the class of 2025 is starting to ramp up, and the Oregon Ducks are already on the trail. On Sunday, Josh Petty, a 5-star offensive tackle, locked in official visits with four schools, one of which is Oregon, according to a report from On3’s Steve Wiltfong.

At 6’5″ and 262 lbs., Petty is one of the most physically gifted tackles in his class, and he seems to love finishing his blocks with Jackson Powers-Johnson-style pancakes. Relative to his peers, 247 Sports ranks Petty as the No. 2 OT in 2025, and On3 ranks him at No. 4.

Along with Oregon, Petty announced official visits with the Clemson Tigers, Auburn Tigers, and the Stanford Cardinal. His visit with the Ducks is scheduled for June 14th.

The Ducks have had success recruiting tackles during Dan Lanning’s time at Oregon, bringing in 5-star Josh Conerly in the class of 2022 and landing Ajani Cornelius as one of the top transfers in the class of 2023. Last year, they were close to landing 5-star Brandon Baker, but he ended up committing to Texas.

Conerly and Cornelius were the Ducks starting OTs in 2023, and they are expected to start at tackle for the Ducks in the fall. After this season though, both will probably move on to the NFL, leaving openings at the tackle spot, which could make OT recruiting a focus in 2025.

Florida joins recruiting race for top-20 offensive tackle

Billy Napier is always looking to add elite linemen to Florida’s roster and the recruiting staff is getting started early with blue-chip offensive tackle Josh Petty.

The Florida Gators are officially entering the race for Fellowship Christian School (Roswell, Georgia) offensive tackle [autotag]Josh Petty[/autotag].

Billy Napier’s recruiting staff offered Petty a scholarship on Wednesday. Petty is only a rising junior, but his top-20 status means that programs looking to sign him must get started early. Arkansas, Clemson and Louisville have all offered him since.

This is just the beginning of Petty’s relationship with the Gators. Offensive line coach Darnell Stapleton made the offer during his very first conversation with Petty, but there are hopes on both sides for things to develop.

“Florida is a great school in the SEC and knows how to develop players. What they do as a school and a program is really impressive,” Petty said to Corey Bender of Gators Online.

Florida hosts plenty of rising juniors at the end of the summer. The barbecue at the end of July that coincides with the Friday Night Lights camp looks like an ideal time for Petty to get on campus.

Petty is a consensus four-star recruit across 247Sports, ESPN and On3. Rivals.com doesn’t have a rating for him. The On3 industry ranking, which uses a weighted average of all four major services, puts him at No. 16 overall and No. 2 among offensive tackles in the class of 2025. He’s also the fourth-best recruit out of Georgia.
