Twitter reacts to Vikings’ keg stand celebration

While the game itself may not be the most exciting, the Vikings defense may have pulled off the celebration of the year.

Games like this between the Minnesota Vikings and Las Vegas Raiders force fans to search for reasons to celebrate.

The Raiders threatened to break the scoreless 0-0 tie after a play to Hunter Renfrow put the Raiders in field-goal range. But a few plays later, safety Josh Metellus had other plans. Metellus punched out a would-be catch-and-run, and rookie Mekhi Blackmon recovered it to give the Vikings possession deep in their territory.

That led to one of the best celebrations one would find this week in the NFL from the Minnesota defense. The defense flipped Blackmon upside down on top of fellow rookie Ivan Pace to replicate a keg stand in celebration of the rookie’s fumble recovery.

Immediately, the football world on Twitter showed their appreciation for the creativity and splendor of the keg stand and Minnesota’s keg stand celebration.

7 Vikings make top 10 of Pro Bowl voting

The Vikings have been popular in the Pro Bowl voting through the first week

The Minnesota Vikings currently sit at 6-6 this season heading into week 14 against the Las Vegas Raiders. They have had some standout performances this season and have won multiple Player of the Week awards and a Player of the Month award as well.

Earlier this week, Chris Spooner took a look at seven different Vikings players who deserve a Pro Bowl berth and there are more who could be headed to the games the week before the Super Bowl.

Through a week of voting, the Vikings have seven players in the top 10 of their position.

7 Vikings who deserve a trip to the Pro Bowl

Chris Spooner takes a look at seven players for the Vikings who deserve a trip to Orlando for the 2024 Pro Bowl.

The NFL’s regular season is coming down the stretch run, which means it’s time to start thinking about the postseason and the Pro Bowl. Voting for the  Pro Bowl has opened up, and it’s your time as fans to let your voice be heard. This is your chance to tell the league – and the world – who you think the best players of the 2023 NFL season have been, and there are several Minnesota Vikings players who are worthy of the trip to Orlando.

This season has been a rollercoaster for the Vikings and their fans. The season started off about as bad as it could be, with the Vikings dropping each of their first three games, and four of their first five, with turnovers abound in each game. Then they recovered to win their next five games – but lost both their star wide receiver and starting quarterback in the process.

Now the Vikings are in the midst of a two-game losing streak and have gone into their bye week with significant questions at the quarterback spot. How they finish out the season will likely have some bearing on how the Pro Bowl voting turns out, but they have a number of players who are deserving of the spot regardless of how successful Minnesota is from here on out.

I have not included Justin Jefferson in this list due to the injury and extended amount of time missed, but name recognition alone may get him a nod. Now, let’s dive into the names!

4 stat that defines Vikings through 12 games

There are many stats out there but these define the Vikings season through 12 games

We are at the crossroads of the Minnesota Vikings 2023 season.

Sitting at 6-6, the Vikings have both looked dead in the water and like a legit threat to win the NFC North. As things sit right now, they have lost their last two games after pulling out five straight wins, all without superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

The bye week comes at a good time for the Vikings. Jefferson just came off of injured reserve and will play against the Las Vegas Raiders in week 14. It also gives players like Akayleb Evans and Marcus Davenport one more week to get back onto the field.

As we reflect what is going on with the Vikings during the bye week, these stats are the ones that define them.

Vikings snap count analysis: Powell clear WR3, Blackmon emerges at CB

Chris Spooner takes a look at a few interesting notes from the Minnesota Vikings’ snap counts from the Monday Night Football loss to the Chicago Bears.

The Minnesota Vikings have now dropped back-to-back games coming off their five-game win streak with another tough loss, this time at the hands of the Chicago Bears by a score of 12-10.

The Vikings defense did all it could to keep the team in the game, keeping Justin Fields and the Bears offense largely in check. Chicago failed to score a touchdown all night, and the defense was able to get not one, but two key turnovers late.

However, the offense was unable to capitalize and gave the Bears defense four turnovers of their own on the night to become the first team all year to lose a game while not allowing a touchdown to the opponent.

While the loss is disappointing, there were some interesting notes from the Vikings snap counts from the game. Here’s the breakdown.

Vikings defensive PFF grades in loss vs. Bears

The Vikings’ defense didn’t grade out the best against the Bears, especially with their tackling

The Minnesota Vikings lost a brutal game to the Chicago Bears by a score of 12-10 on Monday night. It was a brutal way to lose a game for the Vikings, especially since they didn’t allow a single touchdown.

The offense struggled mightily throughout most of the game. Where the offense really struggled was in situational football. The Vikings went 2-9 on third down and 0-2 on fourth down, both of which halted what seemed to be promising drives.

The defense carried their own weight despite four interceptions from quarterback Josh Dobbs, as they only allowed three points off of turnovers on Monday night.

The Pro Football Focus grades are in and the Vikings defense didn’t grade too well, especially in tackling.

Studs and duds from Vikings 12-10 loss vs. Bears

The studs and duds from Monday night’s loss were not favorable

The Minnesota Vikings failed to take advantage of the Detroit Lions losing on Thanksgiving Day by losing to the Chicago Bears 12-10 on Monday night football.

It was a frustrating loss on many accords. The Vikings turned the ball over four times against the Bears and they were all interceptions thrown by Josh Dobbs. His issues with ball placement came back to haunt the Vikings on multiple occasions.

As we look back at this game, it’s going to hurt for some time. The defense didn’t allow a touchdown and has allowed just one in their last eight quarters of football. The Vikings have put up three touchdowns in that span but have lost both games.

The studs and duds this week are evident as there were more poor performances than great ones.

Stock up, Stock down in Vikings 12-10 loss vs. Bears

As the Vikings self-reflect on their bye week, there a few stocks that rose, while some have plummeted given their recent performances.

The Minnesota Vikings ended up losing a second straight game in heart-breaking fashion against the Chicago Bears 12-10.

In a game that is only suitable to watch as a comedy, Minnesota scored the lone touchdown as Josh Dobbs found tight end T.J. Hockenson for Minnesota’s go-ahead score with just under six minutes to go in the game.

With the way that the defenses were playing, that should have been enough.

It wasn’t.

The Bears made just enough plays down the stretch to send the Vikings licking their wounds as they head into a much-needed bye week.

As Minnesota takes its time to self-reflect, let’s look at whose stocks rose despite the ugly showing and whose stocks sank alongside the putrid performance.

Studs and duds from Vikings 21-20 loss vs. Broncos

There were plenty of standout performances that we highlighted in the latest studs and duds

The Minnesota Vikings had the turnover bug bite them once again as they fall 21-20 to the Denver Broncos on Sunday night.

Even with the turnovers, the Vikings had chances to win. They could have gone up nine instead of five but they kicked a field goal. They could have driven down the field and won the game with a field goal, but they stalled out.

Yes, there were some missed penalty calls and the defense played well, but the Vikings can only blame themselves.

Throughout the game, there were multiple good and poor performances. Here are the studs and duds from Sunday’s game.
