Alabama set to host several key targets for upcoming Junior Day

Alabama already had one of its Junior Day’s in January. The Tide’s next Junior Day will be this weekend and a handful of elite prospects are expected to be on campus.

Alabama will be hosting its second Junior Day this weekend. The Tide’s first Junior Day took place on the last weekend in January.

Thus far, Alabama has four commitments for the 2024 recruiting class. Cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe, wide receiver Perry Thompson, edge rusher Sterling Dixon, and quarterback Julian Sayin are those committed to Alabama at this time.

With Alabama having one of its best recruiting classes in school history just last season, it will not be easy to replicate. However, the Alabama coaching staff has hit the ground running recruiting some of the nation’s top recruits in the 2024 class as well as a few in the 2025 class.

Roll Tide Wire will take a look at some of the prospects that will be in Tuscaloosa for Junior Day this upcoming weekend.

Florida football working on official visit from this 4-star EDGE rusher

The Gators are a bit of a longshot for this 2024 EDGE but you’ve got to start somewhere.

The Florida football program extended an offer to four-star edge rusher [autotag]Jordan Ross[/autotag] out of Birmingham (Alabama) Vestavia Hill last Friday. Co-defensive coordinator/defensive line coach [autotag]Sean Spencer[/autotag] has been at the forefront of the prep prospect’s recruitment and was the Gators representative that made the official move.

The 6-foot-4-inch, 219-pound defender still has a lot to learn about what [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] and Co. are building in the Swamp having only received a visit at his school from Spencer back during the NCAA’s contact period. However, it seems like he is warming up to the idea of playing on the gridiron in Gainesville.

“I really have no idea about Florida to be completely honest with you,” he told Swamp247. “I never really have looked into Florida because I wasn’t sure if they were interested in me. I am definitely going to visit them. Me, my mom, and my dad are going to go down for a visit to Florida. We I think are going to go down for a spring date and maybe an official. We are still trying to figure out all of that. I am planning to take my official visits in the summer, so I am still trying to figure those out, but Florida is in the conversation for one.”

Other schools under consideration are the Tennessee Volunteers and Auburn Tigers, who have “started to separate from the pack” according to Ross. The high school junior is also considering the USC Trojans and Texas Longhorns, in addition to the Gators, for his official visits. He has already visited the Vols several times, however, and does not feel that it is necessary to make an OV in Knoxville.

Ross is ranked No. 88 overall and No. 8 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 consensus has him at Nos. 108 and 11, respectively. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has the South Carolina Gamecocks out front for his commitment with a 38.5% chance of landing him, while the Georgia Bulldogs, Tennessee and Colorado Buffaloes trail behind at 17.7%, 15.1% and 12.6%, respectively.

Tide offer in-state, 2024 EDGE from Birmingham, Jordan Ross

Alabama continues to offer some of the state’s top prospects. Recently, the Tide offered 2024 edge rusher Jordan Ross.

Alabama is usually able to land at least a handful of in-state prospects. One that recently received an offer from Alabama is 2024 edge rusher, Jordan Ross.

Ross plays for Vestavia Hills High School in Birmingham, Alabama. He plays basketball and football for the Rebels.

Ross possesses the size and speed to play off the edge or inside the box at the collegiate level. He is listed at 6-foot-4, 219 pounds, according to 247Sports.

After watching his highlight tape, Ross seems to have a similar style of play to that of former Alabama edge rusher Tim Williams. He will have to put on some additional weight to be a three-down lineman. However, he does have enough versatility and burst to be used as an edge rusher on third downs.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down Jordan Ross’ recruiting profile.

UGA football offers unheralded edge rusher Jordan Ross

Who is Jordan Ross and what are some of his best traits?

The Georgia Bulldogs have extended a scholarship to class of 2024 pass rusher Jordan Ross. Ross is ranked as a three-star recruit per 247Sports. However, he is overlooked by much of the recruiting industry. The talented pass rusher is unranked on the 247Sports composite.

The Auburn Tigers and Tennessee Volunteers recently offered a scholarship to Ross, who appears to be a rising talent. Ross plays for Vestavia Hills High School in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. Vestavia Hills is located south of Birmingham.

The 6-foot-5, 210-pound pass rusher also plays basketball. Ross has good closing speed, quick acceleration and frequently pressures opposing quarterbacks.

The three-star pass rusher should continue to improve his strength. Ross is good at quickly diagnosing plays. Expect him to receive more recruiting attention moving forward.

The Vestavia Hills standout announced his scholarship offer from the University of Georgia via Twitter:

Auburn offers EDGE player for 2024 class

The Athlete is the No. 13 recruit in California for the 2024 class.

The Tigers have been at work sending out offers for the 2024 recruiting class on both sides of the ball, and that work has continued on Wednesday.

[autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag] and his staff have offered athlete Jordan Ross, a prospect out of Downey, California. Ross is a four-star recruit that is listed as an athlete on 247Sports, but he claims himself as an edge rusher in his Twitter bio. He is 6-foot-5, so he certainly has the height, but it’s likely he’d add more weight onto his 215-pound frame if he intends to play EDGE at the next level — nonetheless, he’s highly touted, as he currently is ranked as the 13th best recruit in California.

So far, Ross has had offers from nine different teams. Interestingly enough, Auburn is the only team from the SEC to offer him so far. At the moment, he hasn’t made any visits on his recruiting trail but will likely do so once his recruiting class draws closer.
